  1. Truly weird weather. In Kansas City, it's usually around 10 degrees everyday. Supposed to hit 62 today, and 70 on Wednesday. Stay safe! Hopefully you have enough supplies that you won't have to venture out for a while.
  2. What are the trucks parked along the wall at the top left (left of the red trailer) and bottom right (above the Nationwide 4G LTE signs)? They look like street legal "show" trucks. Did they "race" those too?!?
  3. I can get 13mpg's empty. When towing, I usually get 10mpg's with a flatbed, and 9mpg's with any enclosed trailer. Weight doesn't seem to make a difference as far as mpg's. I didn't buy the truck for the gas mileage.... I drive a G6 when I don't need the truck.
  4. Maybe Denali tails would do the trick! I hear ya on the look of the headlights, it's clean for sure.
  5. Your truck looks sharp! Have you thought about doing a slight tint on the headlights and taillights, just to help blend with the black? If anything, just to soften the contrast.
  6. I have 265,000 on mine. I was well on pace to go over 300,000 last year, but I ended up acquiring my wife's gas sipper when I bought her a new kid hauler. My truck gets driven once a month now, and usually just enough to heat everything up. All original drivetrain. Did the mandatory GM fuel pump replacement at 150,000, and brakes, shocks, and suspension components as needed. I'd keep it forever if it was a crew cab!
  7. Nice box! Mine is the same, except aluminum. Are the cargo tie downs a WEATHERGUARD option, or added by the owner? Mine does not have them, and I hate crawling under the box to get to a tie down. The only problem I have with mine is it holds too much stuff! I ended up cracking the sides of the bed where it meets the bulkhead.
  8. ^^^^^ That sums it up about perfectly! This guy has owned the Firebird for almost 40 years, and he's not going to ever sell. This was his dream to resto-mod this car with a full independent suspension and crazy awesome motor. It will probably be a garage queen, with the occasional local car show thrown in there. The company doing the restoration wanted to bring the car to the SEMA show, and he said "Hell no, I don't want a bunch of people touching my car!" He is in his 50's and has no kids. He has a garage full of muscle cars instead! As long as I get to ride in some of his cars, he's ok in my book!
  9. Common may be the ones with a simple engine swap, and then they call it good. A close family friend is building this car right now. This isn't so common.... https://www.flickr.com/photos/restoreamusclecar/sets/72157633572308136 His down payment of $75,000 was just to START the 18 month process.
  10. This is Tyrone. He's a Lab and Great Dane mix. I adopted him when he was 2. Poor guy had been up for adoption since he was 6 months old. No one wanted a big, black dog. As you can tell by the pictures, he's definitely something to be feared! Sadly, I had to say goodbye to him in September. He was almost 14, and was done having fun. Man I miss that dog....
  11. I guess it is better than nothing. She has heated seats, so she can at least be warm while she waits for the windows to clear up.
  12. How long are you able to run your truck with your remote start? I'm trying to find a way to extend my wife's Traverse longer than 10 minutes. Yes, I can start it again for 10 more minutes but then that is it. Kind of a joke if you ask me. 20 minutes isn't near long enough to get the engine warm and start clearing the windows.
  13. Glad you are ok. Vehicles are replaceable. Something good will come out of this...just have to wait and see
  14. Beautiful Camaro! My parents bought a '79 Z28 exactly like that brand new right after they got married. They still have it today! Only difference I see is they went with the light blue interior...and manual windows. Hopefully will be starting the restoration project soon on this!
  15. I have been contemplating selling my truck. It sits in the driveway mostly, unless I "need" it. Working a desk job instead of wearing a tool belt now. Am I crazy for wanting to sell it? It's paid off, and runs every time I need it to. Hauls everything I ask it to. But it is worth more money today than it will be worth tomorrow. I know I will eventually get a crew cab truck, that's the only thing I wish I had. But maybe I can get by without a truck for now. I don't have a car trailer, boat, camper or any other trailer for that matter. Perhaps I don't need the truck, and can use the money on helping buy the next house.
  16. Brandons72vette, Do I even want to know what you do for a living? I've owned less cars than you have owned 2014 Mercedes.... Good luck on the restoration, I still remember my Uncle's 75.
  17. I completely agree.... Don't get me wrong Blackout07, that is definitely a good looking pup! I just wish there was a mute button for those things.
  18. The one time your truck looks "small"
  19. Haha, I was just messin with ya! Everyone buys their vehicles because of they way they look....! It's one of a kind, that's for sure. Those wheels look awesome. Usually it takes about 5 years for me to like certain body styles, but these new GMC's (HD's especially) look amazing! I keep telling myself I'm going to hang onto my truck til she dies.....but I may have to pull the trigger sooner now! Especially after seeing ones like yours. Some trucks look ridiculous with lifts and tires, but yours looks mean!
  20. I want to see one, just one, picture of that truck utilizing the lift kit and mud-grip tires! Looks amazing though!
  21. On post 7278, is that metal clumped on the rear diff? If so, is that normal or the sign of something bad? In my eyes, I would be in a panic right now! Same thing with the trans plug....
  22. Those springs will fit on the stock block? I like to see real lifts on trucks.....not the stupid 14" blocks with stock leaf springs. Glad to see you are doing the proper lift!
  23. Wow, not good. Notify the dealer immediately! Something has obviously malfunctioned. I would suggest not driving it until the problem is fixed.
  24. I have similar issues with my '01 2500. It has the same switch in the dash, so I will start looking at that. I can hear the motor " enagaging and disengaging", although it probably is not engaging all the way. Would the dash switch not functioning properly cause the motor to not engage all the way? My next thought would be the shift motor, I've seen people with issues with that as well. This makes me feel better knowing I'm not the only one out there with the same symptoms.
  25. I have replaced the master cylinder and was able to drive the truck for 20 minutes and not even a thought of locking up. Doug, I will keep an eye for that possibility. Let me know if this scenario is normal. Keep in mind this is before I replaced the master cylinder. When I go to start the truck, I have my foot slightly on the brake pedal. When I start it, the brake pedal almost seems to "pop" back against my foot. Is this normal? I understand that the initial lack of pressure is then pressurized once the engine is running. Not sure if that helps narrow the possibilities of failure. Thanks a bunch to everyone for their assistance. I will keep you posted if something else decides to turn up.
