  1. I've seen that video before and not really interested in digging in that deep for fog lights if that's what it takes however I do have auto body experience and replacing the valance is not that involved. I did the factory fog lights on my 2020 Custom which did have the cut out valance. I did the factory wiring but when I went to get the BCM flashed, dealer said it would be $400.00 plus to do it so I went with the Gen5 wiring harness and worked just fine. The valance is my hang up. I may change my mind on doing pods as I did see some pics where someone did the Diode Dynamics pods and it did look sharp on a Custom Trail Boss. Thanks for the response.
  2. I have researched as much as I can and there appears to be zero chance of installing factory fog lights on my new Custom Trail Boss. The valance doesn't even have the space opening to put them. I'm not really interested in the flush mount pods. Am I correct about my assumption? My 2020 Custom (not Trail Boss) at least had the cut outs to install them. Thanks for any information
  3. The controller is just like the picture you posted. Got it at Chevyparts.com $198.00 with coupon. Update on the install: I drilled for the bracket with the panel in place. The wire was easy to fish thru, did not have to remove a thing. There are several videos out there and one pushed in the small panel where the brake controller goes and one removed the whole bezel, way easier my way. The controller matches the knobs in the truck and actually looks pretty good.
  4. I will repost after my attempt to install the curt spectrum without removing the cover, maybe a yeah that's the way to go without pulling everything apart or nope doesn't work, I'll let you know
  5. Just got a 2023 Silverado Custom Trail Boss. I didn't notice at the time but doesn't have the factory trailer brake controller, does have the tow package. I've ordered the Curt Spectrum, looks like an easy install except: The cover where the oem controller goes, as I understand, pushes in and not pried out. It appears to me that I need to remove considerable amount of trim to access the back to remove. I have seen videos where folks have scarred it up pretty good and I would like to avoid that. My question is, can the holes just be drilled to mount the spectrum with the cover in place and just chase the harness thru the hole? I know there is a dummy connector but does not appear to be in the way. Thanks
  6. Thank you all for the feedback. I told my wife I was asking about it on the forum and she replied, just get a bigger truck! What? Wow, OK So think I'll try that first and see what's out there.
  7. Thanks for the info. I do have a few hills leaving house. I didn't even think about dry vs loaded weight, was just looking at the trailer weight in general. So a 3000 - 3500 dry weight trailers I've seen would do fine. So you think going that route, the truck could handle that without issues? Long story short, son is transferring from Washington State to University of Nevada Reno and this will be his living quarters. One option is to buy it there and bring it home afterwards however the prices here in Texas on trailers appears to be quite a bit better than Reno

  9. I have a 2020 Silverado Custom with the 4.3l engine. I'm looking into buying a travel trailer and wanted some opinions on weight. Specs say 7900 but wouldn't go near that weight. I'm looking at trailers 5,000 lbs and under. What would be a good weight that doesn't overly strain the truck? I have not pulled anything with this truck yet and don't want to make a purchase and as soon as I leave out realize I made a mistake. My other option is to look for a V8 but right now are pretty hard to come by at a decent price. Thanks for any advice
  10. I have a 2020 Silverado 4.3L and was thinking about getting a small travel trailer 3350 lbs Micro Mini Winnebago. Will this truck handle that or to much strain?
  11. Have the 2020 Silverado Custom. The truck came without an insulator pad under the hood. I haven't been able to find a correct part number for the custom. 84391123 is the option for the trim packages RST, LT, Trail Boss. 84391124 is the option for High Country and LTZ. When trying to order, neither one comes back as a fit for the custom. Not sure if I even need one or not but they are inexpensive and heard they reduce heat. Any thoughts on this?
  12. The wire I'm holding is the only single wire to my harness, everything else plugs into fog lights and headlights
  13. The one I'm holding is from the fog light harness. I have confirmed there is not a terminal in B3 body connector which instructions say to remove if one is there, seal and plug in the one I am holding. The C3 body connector is also empty which would come from the BCM to under hood box.
  14. Well, I just confirmed that I do nor have the wire from the BCM to the under hood box and that harness wasn't supplied with the kit. Does anyone know if this single wire harness is available pre assembled? Easy enough to make but serious trouble finding correct pin to plug into the BCM and under hood box
  15. I have not yet confirmed if the BCM to under hood body connector 2 brown/white wire is already there or if I will need to run one. I'm just trying to have everything ready so there are no surprises. If the jumper is not installed, I will do as suggested and snip off terminal and reuse for green connector. I would just need a pin for the BCM

  17. The wire shown will plug into the green body connector 2, pin B3. Instructions say if there is a connector present to remove and seal it. Thank you for giving me the tool number.
  18. The image is the connector that plugs into B3 Body 2 connector at fuse box from fog light wiring harness. Does anyone know the type of pin this is? I will need to remove an existing one at the B3 Body 2 connector to install and need to get the removal tool on hand before I tear into it. Thanks
