  1. 1999 Silverado broke the parking brake cable and I got a new one. It wasn't long enough. I could not get the ratchet pedal to release it's take up no matter what I tried both in the truck or out. I bought a new pedal with a pull pin in it that you don't take out until the cable is installed. I pulled the pin and nothing happened, and the cable has too much slack. The pedal won't ratchet up the slack, the nut at the rear splitter is all the way on, and with no tension on the pedal in the off position, it sometimes falls far enough to activate the light and I have to lift by hand. I have tried holding the cable into the sleeve and pressing the brake, and of course several brake pumps. I was hoping for a trick to get the pedal adjuster to work before I have to take the brakes apart to the star wheel adjuster. Thanks, Jeff Green Bay Wisconsin
