  1. The vehicle was originally delivered to a dealer in Victoria, TX in Nov 2020. Then it was transferred to a dealer near Dallas. Then it was transferred to my dealer in San Antonio, TX. When I got the vehicle in Jan 2021, it had 215 miles on it. So, one of the first two dealers added this device. I will call them later today to find out what they know.
  2. no extended warranty.
  3. I talked to the MyCar company and they checked the serial number against their records and said it was not theirs. They told me that the part in the photo is used by a lot of companies and the best thing to do is contact the original dealer to see if they added it.
  4. I will do that today.
  5. Not till I figure out what it does. I disconnected it and On Star still worked. I need to make sure it is not part of a safety mechanism. THis truck has so many bells and whistles on it, I have not discovered them all. I wouldn't be surprised if this thing makes coffee.
  6. I agree, but was wondering if any other device used IMEI numbers also.
  7. I paid cash for the truck, so I'm not sure why they would install such a device. I will take it to the dealer so they can see it directly.
  8. It could be this. I think it is some sort of communications module because it has an IMEI number printed on it.
  9. yes, but I disconnected it and the steps still worked.
  10. Yes, Brand new.

  11. Yes, Brand new from the dealer
  12. I will take some pics tomorrow and post
  13. I'll take some pictures and post tomorrow. I don't think it is an ODBII reader.
  14. I have not taken the vehicle to the dealer. I just talked to them over the phone. I don’t believe the device is an OBD2 reader, because it is hardwired into the wiring harness in parallel to the OBD port The vehicle has several cameras to assist with parking and with cruise control, and collision avoidance. But, they were all installed by the factory. I have no dash cam.
  15. I have a 2021 GMC Denali Sierra short bed pick up truck. It is only a few weeks old and I have discovered a device connected to the OBD2 port which the dealer cannot explain. It is the size of a Pack of gum, and it has a light on it. Does anyone know what this is for. I have added nothing to the truck. I took the truck to the dealer and they had no idea what it is, and they did not install it. I took a picture of the device and looked up the part number on the internet. The device is a cell phone based MyCar remote tracking, remote start, remote door opener. Now I need to find out who installed it and why. MYSTERY SOLVED-- The previous dealer installed it as a secondary source of vehicle data reported to the dealership. They install it on all their vehicles. My dealer said they would remove it. Thanks for all the suggestions.
