  1. FOUND IT So since my passenger/right rear door was the main problem child, (window not working and door ajar) I decided to deep dive into that door. I removed the door panel, disconnected the accordion from the pillar, disconnected all plugs from locks, window button, speaker, crash sensor, etc. and I pulled the entire darn harness out of the door completely. Quick inspection of the overall harness… looked great. Then I said screw it and I cut the accordion boot clean off, then cut the tape that the wires are wrapped in underneath that same boot. BAM! The wires were soaking wet (it hasn’t rained here in weeks), broken, and corroded. Looks like I’m headed to the stealership tomorrow for new harness. I’m an avionics technician so I would just repair those wires… but I had a fit of rage and cut the boot off. Damn.
  2. I couldn’t find anything inside the truck shorted, open, or chafed. I didn’t even bother with the outside because by that point the issue stopped and failed with the door closed position and I was beyond fed up with it. That said, I didn’t spend an absolute ton of time checking wiring inside either. Quick inspection of the accordian harness in drivers door and the door with the issue. Pulled the accordian back, spread the wires apart looking for anything obvious. Checked the pins against ground, looking for shorts, looked for recessed pins, etc. Removed the door panel, rinse lather repeat, looking for obvious issues. Found nothing. I read on another forum that there’s circuitry that passes through the door latch mechanism, so I replaced it out of desperation. No joy, that didn’t solve anything either. I hooked 12v directly to the window motor to see if that maybe had issues because the same door that has the ajar issue, well that window doesn’t work either. Window motor worked great. I still believe it’s wiring related though because how haywire my truck went during that rainy spell. Then when the sun came out, the issue went back to its normal intermittent self. (Then later failed completely) Maybe I’ll see if I can get my hands on some wiring diagrams. Or sell the truck. Who knows.
  3. I did not fix my issue. I still have the truck and drive it almost daily. My door ajar issue got very sporadic and intermittent. I’m thinking it’s a wiring issue because it really went bananas after a couple of rainy days. Then when all the rain stopped, so did the intermittent issue. So now I believe whatever the problem is, it is outside. Then, it failed completely and luckily it failed in my favour with the door closed and window up. So the truck thinks the door is permanently closed. Now although that door doesn’t register when it is opened… I don’t have to deal with all the dash dinging and all the lights/door ajar warnings. Whatever the failure is I’m suspecting it’s one common location with all of our trucks. The other commonality is, whatever is causing the door issue is linked to the windows, because although my door shows as closed, that window no longer works. I tested the window motor and switch, they’re both good! so to summarize, whatever the issue is, my theory is that it is outside and common between the door and window.
