  1. I know for a fact that a Global A E90 ECM can be fully unlocked via software. I also know for a fact that the T93 TCM can be bench unlocked and patched, and does not require cracking open, just like the GA E90. Some handheld tuners use a "dongle" in between the OBD-II port and the handheld, this temporary dongle allows for a software unlock to be performed. Once that is done, just unplug the dongle, plug in the handheld, and tune away. HPTuners isn't going to specify how they do it, but they are going to do it the easiest way possible and a temp. hardware bridge to allow a software change seems like it would be the easiest way for the GA units. Nobody is offering handheld tuning for the Global B that I know of, and it is more than likely for the reason that you stated. They have become even more elusive and are taking extra work. I don't know how HPTuners is currently handling Global B units, but they are able to unlock them.
  2. You are nothing but a lost cause here, asking that. What, are you going to "unlock" it yourself when you get your answer? Or just shrug, and say, "oh?" Definitely the latter. You think HPTuners spent all that time and money reverse engineering our hardware just to tell people exactly how they are doing it? Since you seem to already know through LF, why are you even on here asking the question to board members when you spoke to a LF professional? Good lord, we really know your type now. There are two ways to do chip bypassing. Via hardware, or via software Use your smooth brain and step back to have a look at the big picture: they are unlockable and tuneable. Quit talking so much about irrelevant details.
  3. Typical egotistical forum member. Asks a question that was already answered, gets panties in a wad when you don't like the answer, acts like you were asking something else when you weren't, acts like you've been on the forums longer than anybody, calls troll when you don't have anything else to say, etc. etc. I've seen it a lot. HPTuners unlocks the ECM and TCM when you send it in to their shop. Why do you want to ask dumb questions about soldering and chips? They unlock it, bottom line. I tune it, bottom line. I answered all of that earlier
  4. Ego is too big. Your "since the 90's" claim is cute... You seriously need to improve your reading comprehension skills (hint: the keywords I used, "useful" and helpful"). Since your head is still up there, ask your questions about unlocking and tuning somewhere else. But when you do, don't be an ass about it. Be specific with what you want to know (unlike this pointless interaction you started). You probably should just call somebody from HPTuners or SCT Performance though. Or, better yet, just learn how to Google and save yourself the phone call and being on hold. Brain usage is a good thing. Think for yourself. I just googled the answer you were looking for in no time. Also, you need a laptop for data logging SCT and HPT, else you aren't really tuning the vehicle, you are guessing. Always use a laptop for tuning, no matter what stage of tuning you are in. Do you have anything to say about EFI Live using laptops for manipulating the tune, rather than a handheld? Are you going to but upset about me not pointing that out earlier? Like I said, think for yourself on the easy things. If anybody needs tune-specific help that takes experience, though, I am here for that. Shoot me a private message and I will respond as soon as I get the notification.
  5. Get yer undies out of a bunch and check your ego, sir. (Edit: it seriously wasn't that serious ) You literally said "how did you tune it since you need send in the ECM....." which means you assumed my truck wasn't unlocked. My post earlier said it WAS unlocked and specifically said that I, me, am still tweaking my tune. So I said to read it again. You weren't asking me any details at that time. I tuned my truck with tuning software just like any other tuner who uses a laptop to tune it (HPTuners for me, and SCT is another example). Why are you now wanting to know details that you didn't ask me prior, as if they matter to the topic at hand? Are you doing the same to yours (or is somebody going to tune it for you?) and do you need advice? I'd be happy to help anybody on here with tuning their unlocked trucks. They just have to have the ECM and TCM sent in and unlocked first, for those who do not know. I haven't had a single encounter yet where they will remote unlock an ECM or TCM. My truck is unlocked and tuned very nicely, as I know my way around engines, tuning, and tuning software very well. And the fact you are mentioning a troll is hilarious to me, somebody who has been devoted to a few forums since the early 2000's, one of them (BMW head, here) having over 10k useful and helpful posts that I have accumulated over the years. I will do the same thing here as long as I own a Chevy. Real OGs know how to spot the trolls....
  6. I tuned it. Only have a K&N Blackhawk intake on it for the sound. Longtubes will be the next go-fast mod. Edit: I'll have to get a video of the induction noise during the 1-2 shift at like 4.5k
  7. I have yet to top mine out since I had it unlocked and then tuned it (High Country 6.2 10 spd), but my tires will limit me as I have a brain. But damn the ecm and tcm tune feels great. If anybody is on the fence, just do it. I'm still tweaking some of the shift times to get rid of the sluggish shifts on lower power shifts. mid power shifts are .200 seconds and full power are .100 seconds, tires chirp with only a small boost in pressure and reducing shift times.
