  1. I purchased the official GM Service Manual (3 volume set) for my 2007 Kodiak C5500 4x4 truck. Is there a way to acquire, paid or otherwise, the GM part numbers associated with the numbered items in the service manual's exploded view drawings without having to go to the dealer? The parts department person I talked to at my local dealer told me no, but I'm hoping he was wrong. It's time consuming to go down to the dealer every time I want to find out the GM part number for a specific part shown in one of the exploded view drawings. Such cross-reference lists obviously exist because the person behind the parts counter is able to pull up this information starting from my vehicle's VIN, then looking at exploded view drawings on his monitor, which allows him to then access GM part number information from the one/two-digit numbers shown in the drawings... Many times I am not looking to buy the part; I'm just trying to learn more information about the part and its specific function in the greater assembly. My current case is related to my air conditioning system, for which GM no longer makes refrigerant lines. I am trying to get sufficient information together to have someone make me new refrigerant lines because several local businesses I have talked to do not want to work on the AC system because GM no longer sells the specific replacement parts needed.
