I received the same letter today. I need to go back into my email to see, but I believe they called this a "recall" in that update email I received last month. What perplexes me about this is why not call it a recall? Doing the calculus in my head, It's a $30 part and takes maybe an hour or so of service to replace? I feel as if most truck buyers who have this package will not tow, however these trucks will enter the secondary market where it's acquired by someone who might want to tow. I keep going back to this being a safety issue and the (my perceived) low-cost of repair, they should handle this in perpetuity if it's never been resolved by the original owner... But that's just my $0.02 - I work in customer experience, this is just a horrible one and does not reflect well on the GM brand. I am getting close to 33mpg on my 4x4 3.0 LM2 between Pittsburgh and Columbus when I need to commute, so I'm not looking to trade-in/switch just yet. Camping season just getting ready to start, I'm curious to the mpg and DEF consumption while towing this spring (just did 2 short tows last fall) - I imagine it still beating out the gasoline options in the long run form a value-perspective.

Ok. Was able to test this afternoon. Good news. No brake controller errors, gain was fully adjustable and the toggle was responsive each squeeze. I didn't feel weight while pressing the brake pedal either when testing. I've attached the details of the work order bur it does lot look as if a part number is on it. Please let me know if you have any questions! -Brent

Ok. My replacement is scheduled for tomorrow. I'll report back asap. I won't be able to test on my camper until something over the weekend. I'm dropping off tonight/picking up tomorrow night. I'll ask for the part number as well. The service manager is going to test it with the magnet tester there. But I need to make sure it works myself on a trailer or 2 (mine and neighbors)...

Mine is. The service bulletin also states '23 in some cases Brand: Model: Model Year: VIN: Engine: Transmission: from to from to Cadillac Escalade Models 2022 6/10/2022 EOP All All Chevrolet Silverado 1500 New (RPO J22, VIN Digit 5 = A or D) 2022-2023 11th VIN Digit Z: 7/12/2022, G: 6/30/2022, or 1: 6/27/2022 9/29/2022 All All Chevrolet Suburban 2022 6/10/2022 EOP All All Chevrolet Tahoe 2022-2023 6/10/2022 EOP All All GMC Sierra 1500 New (RPO J22, VIN Digit 5 = H or U) 2022-2023 11th VIN Digit Z: 7/12/2022, G: 6/30/2022, 6/27/2022 or 1: 9/29/2022 All All GMC Yukon Models 2022 6/10/2022 EOP All All

I'm giving them until the end of the year, that's just over 3 months from purchase - I have engaged a lawyer who took my case and provided him all the sales, window sticker, phone records, GM case numbers and documentation stating "they don't have a fix" - that was key to the lack of "fix attempts". I'm in PA, I have 12 months/12,000 miles to kick off the process. But agreed, I love the truck, I love the 3.0 Duramax to tow my small camper, but dammit, I need that trailer brake controller to work w/o the wires/aftermarket unit sitting on my center console. While that is working with my trailer brakes - the "Trailer Brake Disabled" error still pops on my dash info screen every time I start the truck as a cruel reminder of the money I paid for this feature that I am not getting as of yet...

Talked to GM today - The news I am getting is they now see the issue at corporate - the Regional Manager (Service?) is supposed to reach out to me directly, but the "Brand Quality" Team is working on a fix and hope to have it rolled out between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I did ask them to keep my case open until I see resolution on this issue.

I have a new case open w/GM legal right now, they contacted me after I filed a BBB complaint - I received the call yesterday. This one was a little better vs. last conversations with customer service. She was reaching out to the service manager who quoted me the service bulletin number/etc to find out more. No record on her side, however it was good to hear they are working to "connect the dots"...

@Sam Elmore This exactly. I have a case open with GM - my rep cannot reference the bulletin and "there is nothing on the recall page" my dealer's service manager has been great. He's following up weekly with his district rep but no indication as of this AM on the "identified fix" from this forum next week. I'm honestly appalled by the lack of transparency. Someone isn't going to know about the issue, tow a trailer and be killed/kill someone when they cannot correct sway. I need to look into lemon law as well. I've been to the dealer twice already (install external brake controller, then back to fix the wiring bc it wasn't right the first time) and of course will need to do again "if" there is a fix for them to do that and take out the external controller...

Update - The dealer rewired the external brake controller, I got it home and tested - its working to brake my trailer w/o going out (even thought he message on the screen keeps coming up). I feel safe to tow my trailer with my family this weekend for a short trip to a local campground to "try out the new camper". I do appreciate the dealership's service department for doing this for me but this is unacceptable to start with from the manufacturer. I am giving GM until 10/27 to remedy before I start lemon law process - 30 days after the bulletin was created. I've documented every call, trip, interaction, opened a case with Chevrolet as well. I will not let this go 6 months of "waiting" for a fix w/o getting into a different truck to fulfill my use case.
