Hello. I have the same exact issue going on with my 2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD AT4. My truck has about 5200 miles. I towed for the very first time last week and my transmission overheated on me. A message popped up on the dash saying transmission to hot idle engine. Took the truck in the shop 3 days ago. They said my transmission valve body needs to be replaced. Thanks to this forum I was able to communicate with the shop mechanic and get it properly diagnosed without having to go back and forth. I did In fact call GM and asked about a loaner/rental truck. And they told me that I would have to pay for it up front and then get reimbursed for it after repairs are done. First of all that’s very unfair, if my truck is in the shop for 2-3 months bc of a back ordered part. You shouldn’t expect your customers to pay for a rental vehicle for 3 months and then wait to get reimbursed. It gets expensive. And it’s GM responsibility to make it right bc it’s a faulty part on their vehicle they manufactured. So I’m kinda pissed off about that part and will continue to push for them to cover the cost upfront or I’ll just have to go straight to the BBB.
