  1. Ok Guys, got the truck back today with the new long block, seems to be running fine “no knocks”! The truck only has 7k original warranty left and dealer told me that’s all the warranty the new engine will have on it that’s Bull ******! But he stuck to it so let’s hope this one doesn’t stack rod bearings in the future! At least it still has the original 5 year 60k power train warranty which should cover anything that oil touches in the block per dealer.
  2. Sorry for the crickets: I’ve been waiting to find out when new long block comes in. It arrived at dealership this past Wednesday and dealer said it should be ready to be picked up next week sometime. all I can tell you is the lifters started rattling and the next the rod bearings went, dealer has little explanation why a truck with 28000 miles went!! I can tell you the motor has never been worked on and was doing great until it wasn’t, the oil was changed regularly on time as stated before!
  3. Right or wrong they are awaiting approval from engineering to replace engine!
  4. Right or wrong dealership is awaiting approval for 6.6 to be replaced caused the 28,000 mile new engine spun #1 rod bearing and filled itself with metal, oh boy! Not feeling HD DNA at this point, anybody no how this will effect the resale value at some point.
  5. My 2024 6.6 2500 HD with 28000 miles on April 24th 2026 developed a lifter tick, took to dealer April 27th on the way turned to what sounded like piston rod going through block, pulled over side of road had towed rest of the way. Week later dealer said #1 rod bearing spun and has metal now in oil, still under warranty but waiting on Chevy engineering to approve new engine. didn't expect this on a truck bought brand new!
  6. It’s official: dealer just confirmed this evening, I’m to receive a new long block! The number 1 rod bearing spun putting shavings in the oil. New 6.6 engine will be ordered in the morning.
  7. No I don’t do my own oil changes and yes I’ve checked the oil level after each change regularly, dealer removed rollers and push rods today all look good on right bank, so going deeper tomorrow by removing head to get to lifters we will see what they find at that point!
  8. My nephew whom runs his own shop said it was chevys dirty little secret that when 6.6 were manufactured they blocks were out of specs causing a vibration in motor which is why the bearings went out! he said they won’t own up to it for obvious reasons.
  9. No oil consumption what so ever, recommended D 5w30 per Chevrolet! one day lifters rattle the next day rod bearings went out.
  10. It was not using oil, and I’ve been very picky maintaining my truck, no this issue just happened all of sudden with no warning, oil pressure was normal water temp normal and no check engine lights.
  11. Started as ticking noise 2 days ago, I was afraid it was lifters so parked truck until Monday so I could get it to dealership. on my way to dealership ticking noise turns to clank clunk awful noise, afraid engine is blown, will find out tomorrow when they check it out. Did I mentioned it’s a 2024 with only 28,800 miles on it? This should not be happening so soon. Anyone else experience this?
