  1. Again, I'm not saying there isn't an elevated chance of an issue with the 6.2, but just took a 1200 mile round trip vacation with the wife and passed countless of them. Not a single one blown up and sitting on the side of the road...just saying. And mine ran flawless too.
  2. This I completely respect and support, but only from a financial point of view. Vehicles are a depreciating asset and a horrible strain on many households. That said, there is no such thing as waiting out the current issues that manufacturers are having in their segment space with the EPA push to become compliant with mileage and emissions (let alone engineering to have the most horsepower, comfort, electronics, etc. over their competitors). We are in an era where the engineering is always pushing, so todays issues that get resolved will be a new set of issues in 5 years. Since the first vehicle rolled off the assembly line, mechanical failures have been an issue. Heck, as I sit here, if you visit any forum whether GM, Toyota, Ford, Dodge, etc. and assume you will have the same experience, then might as well plan on never buying another new vehicle. Forums survive and thrive on doom and gloom. I have no data to offer, but comfortable stating that for every failure, there are many upon many that didn't.
  3. That is impressive! I get that it's a long highway drive, but still, 29.6 has bragging rights. May have me thinking about the LZO next time. The torque is right where I need it for towing the boat, but I wonder how the power feels compared to my 6.2? I haven't driven the Diesel to compare. My silly attitude was focused on the horsepower and torque when I ordered my 2024. I do love the 6.2 though...

  5. I completely understand where your are coming from, the 5.3 served me well for 6 years and was reliable. Congrats in advance of your new to be truck, you will love it!
  6. Exactly my thoughts. I have a very long downhill stretch where I live and could post a mpg photo that would make you run and buy a 6.2...lol
  7. I posted this on another engine debate thread, but speaks to your question with the exception that I have never owned a diesel. Don't get caught up in some of the mileage claims...one on this thread is a 7.2 mile sampling, so totally irrelevant. My 2018 with the 5.3 averaged 18.9 over a 6000 mile time period of mixed city and highway use. My 6.2 is currently logging 18.1 over a 3500 time period of the same use. I know we beat this to death and opinions are all over the board, but here is my experience and thoughts. Bought a 2018 GMC Sierra SLT new with the 5.3 and 8 speed transmission. Owned that over 6 years and 65K miles using it as a typical homeowner would. I do tow a 6000 pound tri-toon boat which the 5.3 handled well. Traded in my 2018 for a 2024 GMC Sierra Denali with the 6.2 and 10 speed transmission. The difference in power and all around drivability is obvious and I do think the 10 speed contributes to that. Pulling my boat is a different experience now in terms of power. This is where you really notice the increased torque and my pulling mileage improved by 1.5 mpg (calculated running the same 8 hour roundtrip we do every year). I do run 93 octane gas even though this is debated up and down, I don't care for one minute about spending the extra dollars at the pump. I'm not rich, but capable of owning this truck and putting 93 in it. Bottom line, I would never look back at the 5.3 after owning the 6.2, to me it would now be a deal breaker. That said, no disrespect for the 5.3 and I had a great experience with mine. No mechanical failures and only routine maintenance in 6 years of ownership. I do hope the 6.2 gives me the same experience, but time will tell. One happy 6.2 owner here!

  9. My 2024 Denali 6.2 will stay in sport mode no matter how many times I cycle the truck on and off.
  10. Just curious, is the wife in the passenger seat when the noise is noticeable? I hesitated to ask since you mention the noise went away when stopped, but maybe your driving when on the gas is the issue?
  11. I wanted to send a thanks to the forum given all the great information and conversations to research before sealing the deal on a new GMC. From start to finish it took me about 2 1/2 months to order and receive my new truck. 2024 Denali with the Reserve Pkg, Atmosphere Brownstone Interior, Towing Mirrors, and the 6.2. Great experience with my dealer through the ordering and waiting process and very happy with the build quality and attention to detail. Only 130 miles as of today, but off to a great start.
