Recently purchased a used 2023 gmc sierra 1500 sle with a 5.3L gas engine with 19,000 miles on it. On my way home from the dealership a check engine light came on, I turned around and went back to the dealership where they plugged into the truck and said it was an oil pressure sensor that they had to order, No problem. Brought it back to the dealership the following weekend (1 1/2 hours away) they say they replaced the sensor and sent me on my way. No issues on the way home, went out an hour later to run errands and the check engine light was back on. Called dealership again and they reluctantly said they would have a loaner dropped off to me that week and they would take the truck back and fix it. It has now been 2 weeks and I’m told that the sensor caused oil pump failure and the parts are on order and should be done this week. I’ve owned this truck for 18 days and they have had it for 12 of them. My worry is damage to the top end of the motor if there was an oil pump failure and it being driven 300+ miles with the check engine light on. Any ideas? Thanks
