  1. Wonder if that tensioner you got recently is defective? Possible ...
  2. Yeah, that stuff works as a replacement for AutoTrack. GM DEXRON® II, DEXRON®III, AutoTrack II; Have to edit my prior post - this isn't the stuff I'm running in my truck. My truck takes this: GM DEXRON® VI; http://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-product/transmission-fluid/automatic/signature-series-fuel-efficient-synthetic-automatic-transmission-fluid/?code=ATLQT-EA
  3. Even Amsoil is cheaper! I run this stuff in my tranny / transfer case: https://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-product/transmission-fluid/automatic/signature-series-multi-vehicle-synthetic-automatic-transmission-fluid/?page=%2Fstorefront%2Fatf.aspx
  4. Nice. You've exceeded average engine life by a factor of 3! Good you got that belt fixed. Nothing more annoying than listening to it squeak hour after hour ...
  5. I've been trying to sell my parent's '04 Sunnybrook for over a month now. No bites. Guess they're asking too much. EDIT: Had the wrong name, lol - was thinking of the one they had 13 years ago ...
  6. I absolutely hated those styles when they came out in the mid 90's or so. I wouldn't take that thing for free. Nothing appealing about it to me at all. Rolling tupperware. I remember when the Camaro came back from the dead, the first time - looked like a beached whale. Uglier than sh**. Took GM until '10 to finally get it right.
  7. How about a "Beat A GM Engineer For Charity" day?
  8. I hope that crap stays in CT and NYC where it belongs ...
  9. Yeah that's exactly what it sounded like going down the road, only about 10x louder - I could feel it in the floor, too. Can't believe I put up with that for 6k miles ...
  10. Yikes - glad that's all that happened! I just finally found the source of the non-stop rattling over bumps that was coming from the rear of the truck. Sounded like I had a bed full to the top of brake rotors, and every time I hit bumps, CLANG BANG ... drove me nuts for a year and a half. After going down a chuckholed dirt road today, I said THAT'S IT - fixing this TODAY. Turns out, the upper mount for my airbags was totally loose, and slamming into the frame. When the truck sits, you can't move anything - all feels solid. But, if you jack the truck by the frame, and let the axle hang halfway so the bags are totally unloaded, the play was obvious. Amazing how much that SOB rusted in 1.5 years. Covered in used motor oil & Fluid Film too. Thought I was going to bust the bolt off in the frame. Got it out thankfully. Wire wheeled the hell out of the bolt, threw medium Loctite on it, ran it in, then slathered the top of the threads sticking out in the frame with anti-seize. Hopefully I won't have to remove them again .. but that should make things a little easier. Debating whether or not to throw my summer wheels on or not. Been hearing rumors of snow again though ... http://vid297.photobucket.com/albums/mm215/jjs05polaris/Forum%20pics/0409161357_zpsdltwhddn.mp4
  11. Wouldn't hurt to run a tape measure from roof to ground, and sear that number into your brain. Definitely a good number to know! I had just a stock '94 K1500 that someone had cranked up the torsion bars on. Went to this hole-in-the-wall carwash after work - noticed the clearance was looking pretty close. I asked the guy, " Am I gonna make it here or what?" He says, " Sure - plenty of room." OK! So in I go ............. BAM!! SCREEEEEEEEEEEEECH! The metal spindles for the spinning brushes slammed down on my roof, dragged a pair of 4" wide gouges parallel to each other, then, formed opposing lower-case "h" patterns as the brushes moved away from each other. Destroyed my roof. Lucky for me, the guy shared a building with a body shop - 100% paid for, fixed right, and no insurance involved. Worked out good ... but LESSON LEARNED!
  12. Not surprised. Was it $300?
  13. Yep - seen it quite a few times. I've had belts less than a month old do that. Probably hung around a parts store for YEARS ... and someone found it tucked behind the waste oil barrels ...
  14. Keep the manual stick - you'll thank me in a couple years. Trust me ...
  15. I've had my Sportsman 800 for over 11 years now. 1200 miles or so on it, but I use it mostly as a tractor these days. It gets worked pretty hard. I grew up on Jap machines, but when I rode my buddies '05 Sportsman 700, I was sold. Went and bought the 800 as soon as I heard about it, in January of '05. Still go and play every so often though.
  16. Oh me too! That, and slow drivers ... of which there are many in MA ... I've had gas pumps do the same thing. Was trying to fill my truck with premium ... did the same thing, so I went in and pretty much said, "WTF is going on with these POS pumps"? Same deal - they don't care. Suggested another pump. That's what I was going to do anyway ... so I get my receipt for the $2.67 it pumped in 5 minutes, and head to the next pump. Same thing. I left rubber from the pump out to the street. So pissed!! Not the first time that's happened too - seems to happen alot out here. Usually it's when the underground tanks are just about empty.
  17. Ford's got some nice looking stuff out right now. Not too crazy about the aluminum bodies though - that could cost you big in a fender-bender if the other guy's insurance - or your own - doesn't pay ...
  18. That sucks Oscar -been there. I backed into a little 4" maple sapling on my property going less than walking speed, back when the truck was only 2 years old / 20k miles. Folded the rear bumper into a vee, bent the tailgate, and tweaked the box so bad that I had a crease directly above the right rear wheel on the box. Had to go on a frame machine for an hour to tweak it back into shape! I did all the disassembly, and bought all the parts - the body shop did the body work and reassembly. Still cost me $2,200 ... BIG FACEPALM. They sure don't build 'em like they used to ...
  19. Friggin BEAUTIFUL Sarah! I couldn't have picked a better setup me-self. I'm partial to the 1405 - one less "electronic" device for me to deal with.
  20. I find myself asking that question about hundreds of different GM designs ...
  21. Sounds alot like here! Not too long ago I was out on my '74 RD350, smoking up the town. Now it's headed toward the teens ... Fahrenheit. In another week it'll be mid 60's again. Last year I ran the coal boiler until June for heat! The year before it was 80° in March. Just never know what your gonna get in New England ... and that goes for politics too ...
  22. We'll need the snowblower here, unfortunately. 6" more on the way for Monday ... 22° right now ..
  23. I have to agree with you there. My '94 never gave me much trouble, aside from ball joints and hub bearings. The ball joint issue was from the PO cranking up the torsion bars as far as they'd go. What a horrible ride. But, had 266,000+ miles on it when I sold it, and was still running strong. I put 63k on it in 4 years. Also redid the A/C in that - had 38° vent temps on a hot, muggy 85° day.
  24. WOW .... Driving is becoming a rich-man's sport!
