  1. I’ve searched and searched. I’ve read so many different answers. I’ve got a 2014 Silverado with stock 20”lbz wheels that I’m needing new tires. I want to get the biggest size I can without too much modifications. I called a local off road shop today and they said a 295/55/20 won’t rub or a 305/55/20 but those would rub at full turn. I went to Mavis today to look at the 33x12.50x20 Hercules tt1 tires but they didn’t have it in stock but suggested that I need to go somewhere to test fit that size tire first bc he didn’t think they would fit. I’m assuming I have the cast UCA’s bc I’ve read that plays a part in the situation too. I have taken the front lower valance off the truck if that matters.
  2. Just had the oil changed today at the dealer. They used or supposedly used 0-20w oil. I’m leaning more on getting on. Do you think there is a difference in the Range and the one on Amazon that’s probably made in china for $85.99?
  3. I wasn’t sure which section to ask this question. I’ve been thinking about buying an afm disabler but I’m having a hard time knowing if it’s the right decision. First there is the Range Technology brand and I’ve seen one on Amazon for $85 (OBDCAR). Is one brand better than the other? Also, how many of you guys bought one of these and still had lifter issues vs you just driving the truck in V4/V8 mode and had lifter issues? I’m trying to prolong the life of my truck. Is a ‘14 and just hit 88,000 miles today
  4. I have thought about that and I think that’s why I’ve waited so long to install it. I’ve been thinking of other options.
  5. I guess I should’ve said, the truck is a ‘14 Silverado 4x4.
  6. I’m getting ready to have to purchase tires. I’m still on the stock 275/55/20 on stock LTZ 20” wheels. I’ve got a 2” RC under strut leveling kit for be got to install. I would like to run 33x12.50x20 if they will fit or the biggest I can without too much rubbing. This is probably a strange question but here goes: what are some good tires that you can hear on the road. I’ve been running Michelin ltx defender since I got the truck(already on it when I bought it in 2018). So these have basically been silent. I first thought about Nitto Trail Grappler or Cooper STT pro tires. I’ve thrown the option and looked at reviews on the nitto mud grapps. I like the loudness of them but I’m not sure if it would get old after a while or it would be too much for my wife and kids. lol. let me know what y’all think. I definitely want an aggressive looking tire.
  7. I’ve got to get my truck inspected before March. I was thinking about waiting until then to get a Range or maybe a knock off one. Just think Range has been doing it longer.
  8. I parked, cut the truck off and then checked the oil. I guess I should’ve waited a little while to get an accurate reading to let the oil settle back down in the pan. I didn’t think about that until after driving back to work I thought, the oil probably needs to settle back down first.
  9. I’ve got 87,877 miles on my truck as of today. I forgot to include that. Im going to check again after work and maybe let the oil settle some but it didn’t look like it was even at the minimum dot on the dipstick. I’ve thought about the Range and then I saw one on Amazon for around $90. Not sure if there is a difference in the two. The disabler wouldnt make the lifters go out would it? It’s supposed to help keep them from failing but I know it could still happen
  10. I’ve got a 2014 Silverado 5.3 that I checked the oil at lunch and I don’t think it’s a lot on the dipstick. I don’t drive my truck long distances, it’s just mainly around town going back and forth to work, taking the kids to school and we drive it occasionally on the weekends. My last oil change was March of 2023. I’m creeping up on my 5,000 mile oil change. Oil life is at 7% I think, 5% at the least. I’m planning on taking it in for an oil change but was debating on just putting some oil in it so it’s not really low like it looks like. Do these trucks burn that much oil? I’ve also been driving it in M5 to keep from going in V4. Does an AFM disabler really save the life of the lifters? I was telling my dad about the disabler and he was like I wouldn’t put anything on it like that bc it might mess something from the factory up. Can someone give me some insight on oil consumption and the AFM disabler? Should I be getting more frequent oil changes even though I’m not hitting the 5,000 next interval?
  11. I’ve been reading and seeing people now are going gas due to all the emissions and the gas engines are getting better for heavier towing. I’m not sure the newer diesel engines will get the same amount of miles out of them prior to all the emissions. (90s-2000s.
  12. What is the cost difference in maintenance between gas and diesel? right now I pay close between $75-$100 for an oil change on my ‘15 Silverado 1500. I know there are other maintenance as well like the turbos and such on the diesels vs gas. Just trying to weigh out all of my options before deciding which platform I want to go on my next truck.
  13. It seems to do it when I leave for lunch or when I leave to go home from work. Normally that is when I notice it the most.
  14. I was thinking about this driving back to work from lunch. It is actually 2nd-3rd. So this is a pretty normal thing. Seeing post on a group on Facebook has me worried or paranoid that the transmission or torque converter is going to go out.
  15. I’ve got a ‘14 Silverado 1500 with 84,5xx miles on it. It doesn’t do this everyday or all the time but sometimes when it shifts from 1st to 2nd(I think) the rpm’s will go from 2,000 to 2,500 during the shift and then come back down once it shifts. It’s only on take offs and like I said it doesn’t do it every time or even everyday. Have any of you had this happen?
