Thank you for the reply. I did end up getting the BAFX scanner & tried using with dash command & one other app. with no success. I have since found out that these scanners & apps will work for 1998 & up to set the cam ****** offset. Apparently '96-'97 used a different ECM & none of the lower priced scanners are capable of this. I guess the only alternative is to take it to a garage with a high priced scanner! Again, thanks for the reply
Hi, I've got a 97 K-1500 w?5.7 Vortec & I'm looking for a Blue tooth scanner to set the cam ****** offset. There is one on Amazon, BAFX #3127 that some reviewers claim will work along with the proper app.. Just wondering if anybody out there has used this one or if there's any other recommendations. Thank you
Hi, I've got an electric problem on my '97 Silverado K-1500 that's driving me nuts. I have to disconnect the battery if, it sets 2-3 days or it goes dead. I have done a draw test w/multimeter & have it narrowed down to 2 circuits. The worst draw is on #13 fuse (power door locks, lighter etc.) which is drawing .15 milliamps, the other one is #2 fuse (transfer case circuit) which is drawing .07 ma. , with all fuses in except #2 & #13 the draw drops to .035 ma. .I have checked all grounds etc. . I'm about ready to take dash apart to check wiring but I don't really understand why the transfer case circuit would be hot without key on. I was wondering if there's anything else to check before pulling dash apart. Thank you, any help would be appreciated.
I've got a '97 K1500 with a weird electrical problem. If I leave the battery connected, it goes completely dead in 2-3 days. I disconnected the negative cable at the battery & I'm getting 10.4 volts through it. I started pulling the underhood fuses & when I pull the 50 amp battery fuse & 50 amp lighting fuse together there's no voltage. I tried just one at a time & still have 10.4 volts. I have traced wires out & haven't been able to find anything. I was wondering if it could be something in the fuse box itself shorting or if anybody has any ideas. Thank you
I've got a 97 Chevy K1500 with 4.3 engine with a weird starting problem. The only way it will start is if I bleed off pressure @ the test port on the gas line. It will start right up & keep running, if I shut it off & go to start it right away, it starts fine. When it sets for more than about 5 minutes, have to bleed the pressure off again. I've never run into anything like this before & was hoping somebody had some ideas.
I've got a 2014 Acadia with the standard 255/60-19'' tires that need replacing. I have a like new set of 275/55-19'' that I want to put on & was wondering if anybody has run this size. According to the comparison chart, they are only 10.8'' wide compared to 10'' for the 255's. The only thing I'm concerned with is the front when turning (will they rub anywhere).
I've got a1989 K-1500 & it just developed a problem with headlight/parking light & dome light. None of these work except when i use the remote start (aftermarket which has been in for 10 years). As soon as I shut the truck off with the remote, the lights won't work. I figured it might be a problem with the remote unit so I unplugged it & still no lights. I checked at the fuse box & light switch & the only time there is current is when I use the remote. I've worked on a lot of vehicles over the years, but I'd have to say this is one of the weirdest problems I've run into. I was hoping somebody might have an idea?? Thanks & for now I think I'll have a beer!
Hi, I have a problem I can't seem to find any info. on & was hoping to find some help here. On my 97 K1500, the vent tube on top of the rearend has rotted off & I can't tell if it's threaded in or not. I have looked on numerous sites for a replacement tube & they have them for other makes but nothing for Chevy. I don't want to do any drilling without knowing what size or how they're put in. I would appreciate any advice-Thank you
I have a 2014 Acadia with factory installed hitch & electric plug. All of the wiring seems to be complete, the fuses in the engine compartment for trailer lights are all live yet I'm not getting any electric at the round 7 pin plug. The only thing I can see that isn't connected is the electric brake controller which I don't need. Just wondering what to check for. Thanks!
Hi, I've got a 97 Silverado w/350 vortec & just did new intake gaskets. I have the distributor set close enough so it runs pretty decent but I'm getting the P1345 code. My cheap scanner won't give me the cam retard setting & I've been trying to find a scanner that will at a decent price but getting mixed answers on some units. I was told by some that the Innova 3160E would give that reading and even called the company which wasn't any help.I would appreciate any suggestions as to what unit will work. Thank you
I have a '90 chevy stepside & am trying to figure out if it has a 305 or 350. According to the truck VIN#, it's a 305. The numbers stamped on the block (rt. front) are V0126ULH but I can't seem to find any charts with the ULH suffix. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you
I have an '09 Silverado extended cab 4x4 with less than 40k miles. My left front tire wore down on the inside bad enough that it wouldn't pass inspection so I had new tires put on the back & put the one's from the back on front. At the time they still had app. 50% tread & were evenly wore. I had an alignment done & was told they adjusted toe (was out a little). Now, after less than 4k miles, the left front is starting to wear on the inside again, so I looked at the tie rod ends & could tell they had never been adjusted. Went back to same shop, they checked & showed me the toe was off on right side & o.k. on left. When I questioned why left tire was wearing, he said it was common on Chevy trucks for left tire to wear if right side toe was off! I have never heard this before & think I'm getting a line of bull, but was wondering if anybody has ever heard this? Would appreciate any comments. thanks
