  1. Hood light is an easy fix. Did the same conversion on my '01 you did however in my case, the light did not work. Take the light off the hood and pop the cover apart. You will find a triangular V shaped block in between some brass strips. The offset in the weight is what slides the brass contacts to make or break connection. Clean the terminals and might have to bend slightly to improve contact. Snap it back together and you should be good to go. Robert
  2. This was pre-high pressure fuel pump around Memorial Day and pre-injector replacement this week. Will have to get it checked after some miles to see if it really is fixed.
  3. Well, got it back and it is running SMOOTH for the first time since I got it. Early on I brought up the slight stumble to the dealer but was told all was ok. Nope, it was not. Attached is the used oil analysis that brought the fuel in oil to light.
  4. No codes. Other than a slight stumble at idle, no other symptoms.
  5. This is an update to a post I made about 6 months ago regarding finding fuel in my oil. After replacing the high pressure fuel pump, I ran it through the summer and changed oil in October. This fuel test came back with 4% fuel in the oil. Dealership is found there are leaking injectors and will be replacing them all as they are not sure which one it is because it is a slight one (fuel pump would always prime when I open the door in the morning), Parts on order and will get it back at the end of the week. They said that this could also cause the slight stumble at idle while sitting at the light (this was brought to them when new and got the "couldn't duplicate customer's concern - all is well" line. Robert
  6. UPDATE: Ran the oil through the summer, and had tested again...still 4% fuel in oil. Truck is in shop and they are going to replace all fuel injectors as there is one or more that are not holding pressure and leak down at night. Parts on order and will get the truck back on Friday at the latest. Robert
  7. Yup, going to run another one when I get a few more miles on this oil batch.
  8. I thought I would share a recent event. A couple of weeks ago, I changed my oil (5,200 miles). The truck has about 23,000 miles on it so I took this opportunity to collect some oil and send it off for analysis. Got the report back and they found that there was 4.5% fuel in the oil. Wow! Viscosity was going down, no metal or any wear material noted. I started to keep an eye on the oil level after that change found the level increasing above the full mark. Took into the dealership and they found that the high pressure fuel pump was leaking fuel into the crankcase. Fortunately, (after being told the part was on backorder forever) the pump came in yesterday and was replaced. I am thankful that I did the analysis as I would not have been tuned into there being a problem otherwise. Yeah, I know I should keep an eye on the dipstick, but...will certainly do it now Robert
  9. Here is a link a youtube video from an automotive lawyer about the lawsuit. GM's claim in the suit is they do not need to cover the warranty as the problems are with the design, not a material or workmanship problem.
  10. I found this YouTube video out there where he said GM is arguing that they do not have to fix the transmission under warranty in court because it was a design flaw, not a material or labor issue.
  11. I am watching this topic closely as well as now with the colder temps, am getting the rattle at the glove box when I go over rough roads. To me it sounds like a wire connector bumping on the backside of the glove box. When the cab warms up, the rattle almost goes away. One other post mentioned going through the fuse panel and adding foam behind the wires and defroster duct. Will be a project for this weekend if not too cold to work in the garage. I hate rattles! Update: I think I found it! It was the sunglass holder in the upper console. I could have sworn it was in the dash.
  12. Check out the I Boards, they have them in 4, 5 and 6 inch. About $220. They are available in black or aluminum. The reason I went with those is they protect the lower parts of the doors from tire kick up chips. I also sprayed the rockers with bed liner to protect below that. Robert
  13. Hi All: Been a long time since I last posted. My new 2019 Silverado 1500 LD (old body style) is at the doctor with a shot pinion bearing. The rig was purchased new in June with 3100 miles on it (loaner). The rear end had a whine all along, but finally got tired of it (and could finally get it scheduled at the shop) so I brought it in today. Still getting used to it over my '06 GMC that is still going strong. Hopefully the new one is not off to the same start as the old one... Robert
  14. I would also check you exhaust manifold gasket...my '06 aluminum block 5.3 does the same thing when cold. Ticks away until it warms up enough to close the gap. I have learned to live with it as the truck has taken enough of my money in its 65,000 miles with me. bbwb
  15. I had a '94 Silverado that continually had leaky lines...my trick was to get them to replace it under warranty every 11 months. I had them changed 6 times that way. bbwb
