Shake or Vibration Issues
MikeySierra replied to Silver space ship's topic in Troubleshooting & Recalls
No I have a solid fiberglass tonneau cover. Today when the wind was coming from the west and I was heading east I had virtually no vibration and when I started traveling NE the vibration came back. Mine has not vibrated consistently during this 900 mile run. I have traveled at the same speeds. So does your vibrate every time at the same speed with no variations? Is it better in the mornings than in the afternoon? -
Shake or Vibration Issues

Ok people, I have some thoughts from my trip that started on Tuesday up through Alabama, Tennessee and Kentucky I managed to change the vibration on a WINDY day. Yes I am stressing the windy day part because when I was traveling with the wind the vibration was VERY different or passing 18 wheelers while along side them and when I cleared them. Today I left Kentucky and now in Ohio and the day started off not so windy and really didn't vibrate at all, like it was a different truck. Same speeds on the interstate but less vibration. I am almost convinced that the vibration is aerodynamic related aka dirty air. I just traveled almost 900 miles and I could change the vibration while I was traveling and being around other vehicles. My question here is, has anybody else noticed windy days, direction of wind versus travel and noticed how some days are better than others vibration wise? Just a thought since some people have said tires, driveshaft, rear end etc.... and it's not correcting the vibration? -

What kind of offers did you get? Mine came pretty quick to and I didn't even send the paperwork to the BBB, we already had a deal by the deadline. -

My old truck had 18's with GoodYears SRA's and they replaced all 4 of them with Bridgestone's, then they replaced all 4 rims and the vibration changed but never went away. You are right it shouldn't be there and don't put up with it. GM did a trade assist to get me out of that truck and the one I have now is such a much better ride with NO annoying vibration. Not all trucks are doing it. -

General Motors told me it was pretty much normal and they wouldn't do anything else to it. Mine was in the shop 6 times for the vibration at 73-75 mph and I wasn't about to take it as normal. If it was normal ALL trucks would do it and they all don't. I filed with the BBB and it took roughly 3 weeks total to close the deal on a new truck. Yes I took if for a good test drive on the interstate with the Service Department manager in the passenger seat. My new truck which I have had since Saturday is such a better ride at this moment. So much happier. Don't let them off the hook I truly beleive that GM is taking care of the sqeaky wheels first and if you don't complain they won't do a thing. They did a trade assist and covered all the depreciation. Do it quickly while there are still 2014's to pick from. Everybody is saying right now wait and get a 2015 that is reading this but you will have to pay the difference between the cost of your 14 and the new 15. Good luck and keep up the fight. -

Good day all, this is my latest update. I completed my GM Trade assist buy back today and no longer have my vibration but I do have a new 2014 Sierra as a replacement. I so am hoping that GM comes up with a fix because it isn't fair to have to deal with that kind of frustration. Good luck and I hopefully I don't have problems with the new one. Yes I did take it on a 25 mile interstate highway speed test drive and this one right now doesn't vibrate at all. -

Good day all, my vibration still exists after 5 visits and the dealership has been instructed to not work on it anymore. I will admit mine isn't as bad as some in here and I only feel in the rear so a little easier to handle. GM Tech Support says its not that bad and to do nothing else, complete bull and taking it to another dealership. The phone number for the GM Customer Support Executive department is 1-855-880-1500, please be advised they don't return phone calls either. I honestly think we need to start putting in BBB complaints and contacting the NHTSA about a possible safety issue since GM doesn't know whats causing it. Every BBB comnplaint has to be answered. This is truly getting old because every time they have the truck they are putting over 50 miles on it test driving it and not paying for the gas or filling up the truck. -

I know what you mean about telling everybody and yes I don't think GM really cares because the truck keeps selling. I have had my truck in a total of 4 times for the vibration and no luck getting it fixed. I will say since GM doesn't return calls they are loosing out as I was driving thru the Wendy's drive thru and the guy stuck his head out the window and asked me what I thought of the truck. I laughed and told him that I love it but am sick with all the problems that I have had. Then he asked would I recommend buying it, again I laughed and said not this year and what to look out for next year. GM is doesn't seem to care and I have been as loyal as they come to GM and maybe its times for a change. Good luck everybody with their ongoing problems. -

Picked up truck again for vibration and was told it was a characteristic of the new body style, GM rep told the dealership nothing else can be done and they won't do anything else. If this is a characteristic why isn't it in the brochure stating it. What a pain in the seat. To many dollars to move into something else and knowing that every model has problems. -

I can't believe I am writing this but I did stop by the ford dealership looking this past weekend. Wow that is shocking me that I even wrote that but at least they can have camping tow mirrors on a half ton pickup. -

You are so, so right, if I would have known that this vibration existed or I couldn't technically put camping tow mirrors on it I would have never purchased this truck. Don't get me wrong I love the truck its just the frustrating things like that vibration that should not be there. GM is telling me that it is a characteristic of this truck and its total BS in my opinion. The have changed tires and said there is nothing else they can do for me, which is total crap. -

Ok People here is my update. After sitting in the shop for 3 days for them to troubleshoot, they did the sensors on the seat rails, pulled wheels and tires off other trucks, checked the alignment and then at the end of the day they replaced the Goodyear with Bridgestone's and changed the condition but the vibration isn't gone and they told me there is nothing they can do. I am so pissed off and don't know what to do. Had previous contact with some people in General Motors but they don't want to return phone calls. I said this before and I don't think they care or realize that GM is really, really, really testing my loyalty and I am thinking it might be time to try another brand. I have been buying GM vehicles only for 29 years and this is the first time I have even thought about going somewhere else. Hopefully I can deal with problem for a while so I can recover some of the money I am going to lose going to a different brand. I still love the truck just tired of paying for it and not driving it. Good luck to others that have this annoying vibration. -

Well mine goes back to the shop for the third time to find the vibration. They will be putting sensors on the truck to find the vibration so maybe I will get some answers in a couple of days. They already balanced the tires and rebalanced and replaced one rear tire and no change as of yet. Amazing that this happening with all the technology that these companies have that they can't find something that is shaking the truck and its definetly in the rear because the front is smooth. -
