  1. I think your not taking the blow-by all engines have. The cam lobe overlap where the exhaust valve is not fully closed and the intake is beginning to open. This allows reversion pulses to travel backwards up each intake runner and cancels any measurable vacuum/suction when accelerating or at WOT. You can hook up a vacuum gauge and see this in real time. Even though a tremendous CFM of flow is still entering each port, these "spikes" of reversion are what cancel it. That is with an NA engine. Do a Google search and read about this. It does not reach past the TB until well over 8k RPM so that is where the area just in front of the TB opening is a good source of suction during these periods. And yess, the CSS is just as you described, allowing any pressure to vent backwards at those times.
  2. unless you are accelerating or at WOT, when there is no intake manifold vacuum, then you will experience reverse flow of the PCV system. That is where the dual valve can with both checkvalves provides suction at ALL times.
  3. Also to add to Elite's post, nearly ALL modern engines have integrated checkvalves in them now when Elite has used them for ages, and any other catch can makers copied this from RX or Elite. Take and put a length of hose on your valley barb and try and blow through. all LS would flow both ways. So if you have a 2014 or newer LT based engine, they already have one. For the dual valve, it is critical or you will be just sucking open flow from the 2nd outlet and cause a vacuum leak. You do need them. Hurts nothing to have one on the primary outlet even if it is an engine that now comes with them, just guards against flow reversing.
  4. I thought they used a fuel/vapor rated hose, and it should show on the side what it is. Fuel line alone does not have a strong enough sidewall and is prone to collapse under vacuum, but the strongest sidewall hose that is rated for the fuel/oil vapor would be transmission cooler hose or other hydraulic. The thicker, the less the "hiss" can be heard. I like braided -8 as it fits their AN fittings as well and is quiet, but it is expensive. Clean side the -8 (1/2" seems fine). Make sure the checkvalves are flowing away from the can and in the two outer fitting lines. I have never seen the hose they send leak, but as the flow through can be noisy it is a personal preference.
  5. These dual valve system aid in oil return by pulling suction at all times so oil does not remain up above the heads as the stock PCV only pulls suction at idle, light cruise, and deceleration, so this aids in oil return and oil flow when it is not fighting crankcase pressure when accelerating or at WOT like the stock system.
  6. Should have all you need. You will be capping the passenger side of the air bridge like in this video: Should have all you need. You will be capping the passenger side of the air bridge like in this video:
  7. Let me know if you need help with installation!
  8. Having been involved in Mag/Moss claims in the past, and having studying the act for decades, it does cover everything from vacuum cleaner bags and belts to different fluids used in cars and trucks and absolutely a proper catchcan that follows all current emissions requirements is absolutely covered under the act. BUT there are many that would be. ANY that vent to the atmosphere, delete or defeat ANY function of the factory PCV system (more and more "tanks" are being sold that defeat all functions and just run hoses to the tank) and of course if one was not installed correctly. The Elite cans, Genuine RX cans (not the counterfeits), TracyLewisPerformance cans on Jeg's, Colorado Speed, and a few others like Saku Micchi all retain factory closed systems.
  9. There is only one documented warranty being denied for a catchcan, and that was thoroughly covered and the outcome. Turned out the tech misdiagnosed a failed oil pump and the owner ended up replacing the oil pump himself and the engine was fine. He is now still running the can. Out of the decades and tens of thousands of Elite and similar cans in use, there has never been another example. That said, there are many cans/solutions out there that WOULD have a direct impact and cause of failure of the can defeats or deletes any of the factory PCV systems functions resulting in engine wear/damage from defeating how the PCV system removes contaminates from the crankcase, and also open the system to the atmosphere (any vented or breathered systems). Elite and a few others make sure all the systems they sell are emissions compliant (not CARB cert in CA yet though). Having dealt with the Magnuson Moss act, and seeing how quickly a dealer/automaker does a 180 after getting a letter from a Mag/Moss atty and then does cover if hassled is pretty telling. None of this though prevents a uneducated or just plain mean uncaring dealer from messing with you as most are not aware there is a Federal law protecting consumers from this abuse. Most Mag/Moss law firms will send a letter for under $200 and we have yet to see them not accommodate. The problem is most are not willing to stand up and take the proper steps. Hope this helps to clarify. It is absolutely Illegal for a dealer or automaker to void or deny warranty coverage for an aftermarket product or service unless it directly caused the failure in question.
  10. Moroso can only traps app 15-30% of what enters it allowing the rest to pass right through still causing the issues. Very east to test this to prove. Simply install an Elite E2-X inline AFTER the moroso (or any of the small billet cans as the design and manufacturer are the same as app 20 other brands) and it will trap as much to twice as much as the Moroso does first in line showing what gets past. Drive 1000 miles minimum. Then drain and clean both cans of all oil, then place the E2-X first and the moroso second, and almost nothing gets past the E2-X. easy, accurate, and fair test.
  11. Weird...never heard of one not catching anything. Keep us updated, and if you can, post some pictures of all, especially the drain being closed and not clogged (sometimes what is caught is thick and can clog the drain....take a wire and push up through the drain when open to try that).
  12. Excellent video!!!! Fondupot does a great job on these. Also, for the can not catching oil, make SURE the drain is closed as well. Some times it is that simple.
  13. Has to be something routed wrong or check valve stuck closed (blow through each to confirm they open and close properly). If your truck is a 2014 and up, Follow these instructions here:
  14. Depending on which brand can your using, what is caught is far more than oil. First, it should be disposed of just as any drain oil. Most autoparts stores take drain oil. Ineefective cans catch mainly dirty oil and water. Now, if your using one of the ineffective cans, then what is caught is generally mostly oil and some water. If it is one of the truly effective cans like the Elite E2 or E2-X, the genuine RX cans (not the China counterfeits!! they have made that website look like the real one, so beware. rxperformanceproducts.com is NOT the genuine ones! teamRXP.com is) then what is caught is follows on average (this is a cool weather drain sample analysed by one of the major labs that is working on these issues): 70% water and sulfuric acid 23% un burnt fuel (as the GDI engines operate at far higher compression ratios and fuel is introduced at 2,000-3,000 PSI many times the amount of raw fuel is forced past the piston rings and dilutes the oil, etc.) 7% is actually oil and abrasive particulate matter. So never put this back in the crankcase (some cans return it!!! Crazy). Hope that helps!
  15. LOL! There are a few others I should bill for promotion as well.
  16. And if I was compensated by them I would be proud to shout it from the tree tops, as they are the one I respect the most, but I am not. Also, Elite is a supporting vendor on here and you can ask them directly. Amen to that, but by the looks of the candidates that were nominated, If the one that's goal is to eliminate all personal petroleum fuel vehicles in the near future, and the efforts that keep pooping up attached to other bills to make it illegal to modify a car, etc. we all may be driving priuses and leaf's and taking the bus. Great idea. Had not thought of that. Has to be tons on the junk yards.
  17. Federal Trade Commission has nothing to do with members of a internet forum or ANY discussions on product results, and I doubt Elite would like that I endorse other brands as well if you read my posts. I have yet to find any that surpass them. I just having followed most brands for several years I like that Elite did not take such a low unethical path to end up with effective products when others took such a slimy way. I provided something the FTC may be interested in though, a company sending another threats to copy their product and use his resources to put another, the one that did invent these designs "out of business", and then go on to not only copy it as threatened, but to also make a serious attempt to put the their out of business by going to the inventors dealers and colluding to undercut and use pressure on them to not carry the inventors product. Do a little legal research hondahawk and see how serious that actually is. Especially as the inventing company had first reached out to Joe and offered to license that design to them first, but was laughed at and this reply sent back: I would appreciate you not referencing my parts and business. I saw your post about UPR cans on need for speed. I am not happy to say the least about your tactics and forcing product on people.------------- You call our can a pull through, so how can you get caught with your double talk about our cans will fill up and hurt the engine. Pretty interesting since we have an ecoboost that we let the cans overfill and all it did was pull the little bit of oil at the top off the very same as no catch can at all. Oh wait, it must work so good that it magically sucks the oil pan clean. If you continue to use and show my products as being faulty or not as good as yours I will have your can manufactured in billet to be a quality item ! Them proceed to sell all your dealers with my endless source of supplies. That has all been documented, dates on all correspondence, and then the internet forum post's with dates where he bragged about doing just that. Even using the inventors name of the can (until others complained and he changed it). Once you post things on the internet like that they are there to stay, so please share with me hondahawk how anything I have posted is in any way unethical, much less legally actionable. I think you need to look at the one your defending and learn all the facts. There are several brands of good effective cans here, the largest CO, the Saiku Micchi, etc. But before you quote law, get your facts straight on what your talking about. https://www.ftc.gov/ https://www.ftc.gov/tips-advice/competition-guidance/guide-antitrust-laws/antitrust-laws Lot's of reading to understand who it looks like broke Federal Laws. A little research about a subject before posting such an accusation in public keeps someone from looking foolish. Lt's of the evidence can be posted here if you want to push it, but joe was professional enough in his last post that I don;t think it needs to be presented here.
  18. Of all the "catchcans" we have tested over the years. Elite always comes out on top....and having had dialog with the team there when ever we have inquired on any aspect of their offerings and what goes into their continuing design work, they actually have demonstrated how highly ethics and character matter in all they do. Anyone that has had a chance to visit them knows they have their own CNC machines, lab, etc. and actually invest time and effort into their own R&D as well as working with industry experts and have never taken the short cut's of "stealing" designs from others. Combine that with their constant efforts to continually improve on all offerings, puts them above most any other company we have dealt with. There are other effective designs many see me mention here, but none top Elite's.
  19. The question was for Joe from UPR as before a customer of his did the "catchcan test" and they failed miserably, he always promoted his (made by Billet Prototypes like the Moroso) was the best. He then copied the RX dual valve and also copied the explanations of RX on how all of this worked. (the RX is priced less I believe than the UPR) after sending RX this nasty message: " If you continue to use and show my products as being faulty or not as good as yours I will have your can manufactured in billet to be a quality item ! Them proceed to sell all your dealers with my endless source of supplies." So, before that, RX was the ONLY can that understood this and shared this information. Using someone else years of hard work and research to copy is less than ethical. Same with the "cleanside separator" that RX was the first and only to use, then UPR copied it as well: Read the entire test here: http://www.f150forum.com/f70/5-0-upr-vs-rx-catch-can-effectiveness-test-254381/ And, here is a challenge. Perform that same test but with the E2-X against the can in the pictures Joe posted here, and the E2-X comes out on top. That was the only point of my post. Most ethical companies will work with an inventor/designer to have them license the design, or have them private labeled from the inventor. Comapnies that just copy others to short cut all the expense and years of R&D are what is wrong with business today. These were out for months before he copied it. And after you read the nasty letter (he had his customer take the challenge, not RX) this is what is wrong with business today IMHO.
  20. Where did you get the idea to use a WOT suction and a cleanside separator?
  21. You had the rare opportunity to have a truly knowledgeable tech to work on yours. Please share the dealer name so others in that area can use them. Wish all techs were as smart, but most are just part swappers, and the service managers/writers are the ones that really don;t understand any of this. Great story!!!
  22. You may be right, but for decades some dealers have played this "double dip" game where they deny to cover a issue that should be, and then get the customer to pay AND collect from the automaker. This is only a small percentage of dealers, but is a serious issue. In this guy's case they did deny it with the automaker as well, . Also, this is the first ever documented case with Elite and the similar correct designed systems. There have always been warranty's denied/voided for cold air intakes, headers, aftermarket plug wires, exhaust, lift kits, after market wheels and tires, etc. that are not legal grounds to deny, but you are correct that most never "push back" so the dealer assumes the average consumer is not aware of the Magnasun/Moss act and similar protections.
  23. They also have refused to provide him an explanation as to how a proper system could possibly cause the oil pump to fail....it is physically impossible as the flow and function of the PCV system is not altered, and the PCV system has nothing to do with the oiling system.
  24. The valves look about right. There is still app. 5% of the coking that cannot be prevented due to the EGR function emulation that back fills the ports by variable valve timing events. Nice to see some pretty minor deposits for once! Still would run a solvent based upper induction cleaner while running to see how much of that can be removed. Yes, the owner stopped the fight....but IMHO he should have pushed it with a Magnasun/Moss attorney. Many of us donated to the cause and would donate more to set precedence.
  25. LOL! First case in 15 years of the Elite/RX design and 10's of thousands in use. This was a tech that blew the customers engine driving it with no oil pressure from a failed oil pump. GM has now gotten the entire story and is taking care of the customer. Nice try, but it is against Federal Law to void a warranty for these. Many out there would though as they defeat the PCV systems functions and can cause damage. Cheers!!
