  1. I'm very happy for you. It is nice to see that some people are properly treated when they have this issue. This forum has more than 1,000,000 millions views. There are few forums that get this type of attention.
  2. I made the mistake of thinking GM would have a fix. I drove 6, yes 6, 2016s before i found one without the vibration. I swapped trucks and ate about $5k in the process (only $5k because GM gave me a special trade-in allowance) The Lemon Law thing might not actually work (you can read the hundreds of pages to see those that haven't qualified for Lemon Law even after the required number of attempts/days in the shop). I ended up eating even more money and traded into a Tundra when my 16 started to vibrate at about 4 miles. You can find my story on my website if you want all of the details. If you are committed to GM, either get a Colorado or the 2500. I don't think there are any vibration issues with the Colorado and it seems the vibrations in the 2500s they have been able to fix. I loved my Silverado LTZ. It was far more of car than the Tundra. The Tundra rides like a truck and doesn't have all of the cool technology but it doesn't vibrate. In hindsight, I would have traded my '15 1500 for a '15 2500 and saved a ton of money! I don't really need a 2500 as my truck is a commuter vehicle (roughly 1,000 miles a week). I thought for sure GM would have it fixed by the 16s and there are plenty reporting the same issues and GM has the same painful process for trying to throw tire balancing and other nonsense at the trucks.
  3. If you haven't talked to GM Customer Service yet, give them a call. I wasn't getting anywhere until I told them the truck was making my wife sick and she wouldn't ride in it. We had to drive my '15 back from NC at <70mph to make sure the truck didn't make her sick.
  4. If you go back about 50 pages, this was something that was discussed when someone had found a cracked shock mount and others were finding loose hardware. It was mostly the u-joint hardware, if I remember correctly. This constant vibration could be more harmful than an out of balance tire that someone suggested as the tire out of balance is not as constant as what the trucks are experiencing. If you do an internet search of Fasteners vs. Vibration, you will see that this is a real challenge in the manufacturing world, not just autos.
  5. I put Michelin Defenders on my 16 at the suggestion of a tire shop. They road force balanced them to within 5. I don't know what the 5 actually means but I do know that the GM spec is 15. This was the 3rd set of tires on the truck in under 600 miles (stock Duellers, BFG KOs and then these). All three sets of tires had the same exact vibration. I wouldn't waste your money trying this on your own. The BFGs right great on my Tundra and I sold the Duellers on craigslist for $400
  6. It's quite a few pages back in the thread or you can check out my website to get the details. GM gave me a trade-in allowance for my 2015 that had <5k miles on it. I still lost about $5k on the swap, which was more than the difference in sticker price. I then ate another $7k+ trading in the replacement truck that had <600 miles on it. Check out my site to see what I tried to do to solve it prior to throwing up the white-flag and getting the Tundra. I have traveled cross country the past couple of weeks, but I normally drive more than 1,000 miles a week. My Tundra has given me 7,000 vibration free miles, other than when I drilled a New England pothole and that was resolved with having the tire balanced ($20). I think it is safe to say that the issue is not solved as everyday there is a new person talking about their 2016 having a vibration issue. GM did offer up a deal on a 2016 Volt as a concession, as I loved my 2013 Volt. Unfortunately for GM, I'll not be driving a GM product again (other than my 1964 C-10). I am, in no way shape or form, the spokesperson for GM on this issue. I choose to share the little bit of information that I found out.
  7. Good Morning All, It's been a couple of weeks since I last posted. I had a conversation earlier this week with a GM Director in regards to this issue. Yes, I know, I don't have a truck with a vibration any more but this still bothers me. It kills me every time I see a new person post that they just bought a truck. Here is a summary of my call, if you care. 1. He was sincerely apologetic to me and all of us that have issues. I will give him credit for his apology as we played phone tag for a week to connect. 2. GM knows they have an issue and a lot of the assumptions on here are correct about frame stiffness, tolerances and a variety of items that can cause the vibrations. 3. He didn't mention the % of trucks that had a vibration, but he did say they sold 600,000 trucks last year. He also mentioned that some people won't notice the vibration but once you are in-tune to it, it is hard to escape. 4. GM has a set process that needs to be followed and it starts with the tires and many times they can resolve it. My guess is that those customers don't ever find this forum as their vibration is gone or tolerable. 5. GM is working with the tire manufacturers to see what can be done. 6. The increase in activity from Customer Service was in fact a reflection of me contacting him. Unfortunately, they seem to have disappeared in the past week. 7. Unfortunately for many of us, the dealer is the face of GM and we are at their mercy. You will hear about GM lying engineers around to solve individual issues. That is part of their protocol if the first few dealer attempts don't work. Here is my opinion. It's a pretty horrible situation to be in as a consumer! We all have spent our hard earned money on a truck that is extremely frustrating to drive. My recommendation to GM is to be active on all of the forums that are discussing this and post the proper procedure for a customer to follow when they have this issue. Just lay it out the same way I listed my items above. Every consumer would know the exact process they have to follow and what to expect when. They need to get the dealers trained on the same process. I don't think the vibration bothers anyone nearly as much as the lack of knowing what to do. Toyota is still dealing with a rotting frame issue that has been around for 10 years. If you talk to anyone that has been through the process, they couldn't be happier with how Toyota handled it. Toyota admitted to the issue rather than bury their head in the sand. Toyota reached out to consumers and told them how it would be handled. Toyota than followed that procedure. It's really basic management. I feel for you that are still having the issues. Those that are bolting clamps and what not to your trucks, I truly hope it helps and doesn't have some future side-effect that voids your warranty. I hope this helps!
  8. I'm wondering if my efforts have had anything to do with this. I received a "thank you" card from GM marketing. It was signed by a GM executive. I reached out to that individual via linked in and shared our concerns via a linkedin message. In my original message, I included a link to my website to help them see the severity of the issues in one place. Another individual reached out to me via linkedin to setup a call to discuss. I obliged as I would love to see this resolved for all of those who had issues. Those that have accused me of not so nice things, sorry that you feel that way. Nothing would make me happier than seeing all of those that are frustrated to have an ear that is willing to listen and help them get the truck that they want. I'm fortunate to hvae been able to buy my way out of a vibrating truck, that isn't the same for everyone. Hopefully this effort from GM is a true effort in standing behind their product. Maybe we never get to 1,000,000 views
  9. According to the Service Manager of the GM dealer I was working with, every truck has the vibration issue. I had to drive six 2016 LTZs before i found one that didn't vibrate. I wish I would have just kept my 2012 Silverado 2500 LT. Unfortunately, within 40 miles it had the same vibration as the 15 they purchased back. In my very scientific survey (being extremely sarcastic) I would say about 20% of the people I ask about their Silverado have noticed the vibration. Even if it were 1%, it is a significant number especially if you are one of those with the vibration. As far as the loose bolts go, there are enough posts between this forums and others that talk about loose u-joints, loose shock mount bolts and loose leaf spring bolts that there might be something there. I was fortunately able to absorb the hit on my truck but I feel for the people that have to suck it up and deal with it.
  10. Unfortunately, you didn't find this website prior to your purchase. If you read backwards you will see there a ton of posts that sound exactly like yours. There are even a couple of posts that will tell you exactly what the dealership and GM will say. It has been a week or two since I last posted. I'm not sure why I'm addicted to this issue as I now have a vibration free Tundra but I can't stop watching this forum and a couple of others. It's like a car accident I guess. As much as I know I shouldn't look, I just have to. There might be a recall in the future. People are starting to find nuts are coming loose on their vehicles. The most common issue is the u-joints. It won't take long after a driveshaft or two to drops before this gets major headlines. I'm now sure how GM could actually implement a recall, as they don't have a fix. Good luck everyone! PS I have been updating my website! GM should care. 28% of all people finding my website are finding it via Facebook! I don't even own a FB account, so it is having some organic growth!
  11. The first Toyota dealer I went to openly stated they didn't want my 2016 Silverado because they knew of the issue. The truck had 600 miles on it. The next dealer offered me $32k for a truck that had a sticker price of $53k. I don't know if I ended up with a good deal or not but I settled for $41.5k for my brand new '16 Silverado and paid sticker for a Tundra. I ended up with three new trucks in under 5 months. I couldn't be happier with my Tundra. I'm hoping the class action suit comes to fruition!
  12. Con Congrats on the new truck! It is sad that many of us have to switch brands to fix the vibration. Did the dealer say anything about the vibration? Some of the dealers are getting wise to the vibration issue and giving low trade-in values. I am done with GM except I still own a 64 C-10 that I can't part with. I even considered it but I can't do it. I was really hoping to buy a 2016 Volt in the Spring, as I LOVED my 2013 but I can't do it. If anyone cares, the Volt has the highest GM satisfaction scores of any of their cars.
  13. "get the aftermarket lift" = "it is no longer GM's problem". My local dealer tried to reject my claim on my 15 after I replaced the tires, as they were convinced it was the tires so I figured I would try BFGs and then Michelins. Don't modify the truck in any way. It seems so logical to try this or that. If guys want to try clamps and things that are easily removed than no harm done. As soon as you do the lift, it is your problem. Congrats, 900,000+ views to this listing. GM will start to take notice. Maybe they will even have Customer Service reach out to those of us that have been burned. My '16 Tundra now has 6,000+ miles, towed a couple of different cars behind it and have put 1 ton of wood pellet in the bed. No vibrations, no shakes and no stories. Just what a truck should be.
  14. I hit 5,000 miles on my '16 Tundra, in less than a month. After 5,000 vibration free miles, I decided to install one of the sets of tires I purchased in an attempt to fix my '15 and '16 Silverados. Imagine this, Tundra is now at just under 6,000 miles and it is still vibration free and I'm running 275/55/20 BFG All Terrain K/Os. I will admit that the technology in the Silverado was hands down ahead of the Tundra. I loved the heated steering wheel, the touch screen and the lane departure correction but I couldn't deal with not being able to drive the truck on the highway. Onstar is missed the most, but I won't buy their Onstar FMV as it still supports them. I did drive the F150 (ecoboost and 5.0). It was hard to say no, as I own three Mustangs and consider myself a Ford guy. I only have owned one dodge in my lifetime and didn't care for the look of them, so I didn't bother driving them. I can happily say I no longer look at it as losing $10k+ on a Silverado but I have accepted that I just overpaid for a Tundra. On another note, my revenge will never have any significant impact on GM but my little website has had a few thousand views, most of which are coming from a Corvette forum and then GM Insider. I can also say that I have 27 confirmed people stating they didn't buy a Silverado because of this forum or others that I have posted on. One small dent for GM but one small victory for the little guy Have a great weekend all!
  15. Quickly approaching 900,000 views. GM will take notice sooner or later!
  16. Thank you for the links to the articles. I have updated my website. If it makes anyone else feel better, my website has had a couple of thousand views and almost two dozen people have confirmed not purchasing a GM because of what they have found on the website and the forums listed within it. GM Customer Service called me this week to see how I was enjoying my replacement 2016 Silverado. I directed them to my website
  17. The first dealer I went to clearly stated "we don't want your truck". The second dealer started at $32,000 for my 2016 with 600 miles on it. They (Toyota dealer) called over to an affiliate Chevy dealer to see what they would write a check for. After that phone call, they came back to me with a price of $38k. Keep in mind that my truck had a sticker of just under $53k and it was a 16 so they weren't offering 25% off, I paid $49k. I finally got the dealer to $42k and I took it. Take this $7k hit + the hit i took on the '15 they took back (GM gave a $5k trade in allowance via some special code). On my '15, I tried two sets of tires and a set of aftermarket wheels. This is my own fault, so I don't even count that $3,500 as I was just stubborn and thought maybe I could solve it on my own as the answer from the installer was "it's within GM spec" was just frustrating the heck out of me. Now, in my free time, I update my very basic website of dontbuyasilverado.com I can proudly say, with the help of this forum, we have stopped almost 20 people from purchasing '15 or '16 Silverados. I know that these couple of dozen deals are peanuts for GM but I can account for them losing more money than I have. I will continue to update the website with forums, online articles and videos of what the vibration looks like. At some point, I will either move on or GM Customer Service will offer me a reimbursement of what I lost and I will sell them the domain Happy New Year!
  18. It doesn't sound like yours is that bad, yet. Mine was so bad, you couldn't keep things on the passenger seat. The day I traded my 2016 truck in, I noticed that 3 of the 6 clamps holding the BakFlip cover on had loosened and fallen off. The vibration is not only a nuisance but it will cause long term issues. search youtube for sivlerado vibration and you will see what people are referring to.
  19. I had to drive 6 trucks prior to finding one that didn't vibrate (see previous post for more details). I did all of the paperwork and took ownership of the 16 as GM offered me an additional $5k trade in allowance for my frustration. Within 40 miles it had the same exact vibration (starts at about 40 and gets obnoxious about 70). Listen to PM26 and don't risk it! I ended up losing my shirt trading in the 16 for a Tundra. It is what it is, but it is way better to lose money than to watch your wife get car sick from a truck that vibrates!
  20. I just finished trading in my 2016 with 600 miles on it after the buy-back. Be careful of the deal they give you, as not all buy-backs are the same. They would only let me get some of equal or greater value. I would have done the corvette but I already own a GT500 and was not impressed with the Vette (By the way, the Vettes have valve issues. There are forums covering that.). I took the 2016 praying it wouldn't vibrate and my prayers were not answered. First chance I had, I converted it to the Tundra. Be ready for "why are you trading in a 2016?" the first Toyota dealer was well aware of the vibration issue and had no interest in the truck, even with only 600 miles on it.
  21. I drove the Toyota and a Ford. The Ford with 20" wheels also had a rougher rider. I'm sure that because of my issue on the last 4 months, I am being overly sensitive. The Ford with the 18" wheels rode better but I wanted to try the Toyota before i made a decision. If I hadn't just lived through this mess, I probably would have purchased the Ford. I own two Mustangs and it would have complimented the car coral nicely. The Toyota was hands down the best ride. I purchased a Limited with 20" wheels and 275/55/20 tires. This would be the same size tire as my two LTZ Silverados and there is no comparison in ride. My first Silverado had the lower gears (I believe 3.08s, but I could be wrong), so in 5,000 miles I was averaging about 19mpg. The second one had the higher gears (I believe 3.42, but I could be wrong) and I was getting around 17mpg. I only had it for 600 miles, so not enough miles to know if that was going to be the true number. The second Silverado did have more get-up-and-go because of the gearing. I have no idea what gearing the Toyota has but it has way more power. The mileage did suffer. The first 500 miles over my trip, I averaged just over 75 ,vibration free, MPH and I was at 14.8 mpg. The last 300 miles, I locked the cruise at 70 MPH and was at 15.9mpg. All of these estimates listed are per the vehicles on board computer, no math was done on my part I wish you all the best with your trucks! I had to eat the cost of a small car in this journey but I will never purchase a GM again and that my friends is a life lesson. I will try to keep an eye on this isse and update my website of dontbuyasilverado.com with more links to articles, youtube videos and forums. I'm sure I'll get contacted by GM legal at some point Merry Christmas all!
  22. I just finished an 800 mile drive to NC and absolutely no vibration. I never thought this day would come! I couldn't be happier. I don't know if the fix will work for everyone but it's worth a shot. I traded my P.O.S. 2016 Silverado LTZ (which was a replacement for a P.O.S. 2015 Silverado LTZ) on it for a Toyota Tundra yesterday. If it makes anyone other than me feel better, I have had multiple people email me via dontbuyasilverado.com and inquire about the issue. These were all people shopping for trucks who have come across one of the multiple forums discussing this mess. I'm pretty sure that I have been able to convince all of them to not purchase a new silverado without test driving it. If it doesn't vibrate, I have them insist the dealer remove/reinstall the wheels before they take possession. Happy motoring!
  23. 70+mph
  24. When they Road Force Balance the tires/wheels, they should be checking this.
