  1. Great-looking trucks keep popping up in here, nice!
  2. I think it's fantastic that you guys are all helping each other out with all of this shared information on how to do all this stuff, that's great. This forum is second to none. One lesson I learned when I bought my truck (and my salesperson even told me this) ... the less stuff your truck comes with, the cheaper it is, to add other stuff later. She showed me the invoice on a few other vehicles - if a Tahoe comes with the GPS Navigation - the added cost to the vehicle price, is over $2,000. So, I went back a week later, and had it put in my Silverado for $750. I don't know what the center console part you guys are adding, costs on the invoice of an LTZ, but I guarantee you it's a hell of a lot more, than if you buy it afterwards. Personally, one other reason I like having the jumper seat console, is because you can move it forward a bit, which you can't do with the full center console. My armrest was a little bit too far back for my tastes, and if I pulled the seat back, gas pedal was too far away (I'm 5'10"). So I simply removed the bolt covers on the floor, moved it forward about an inch and a half, and now it's perfect. No one will ever use that thing for a seat, anyways.
  3. Great topic. While sometimes I wish I had the extended center console (as opposed to the seat console), I barely ever use the three 12V ports, or the three USB ports that I already have, as it is. I even put a 4-port USB hub inside the armrest ... never used it yet, nor have any guests in my truck, including several long road trips. If you work on the go a lot and need to charge multiple devices, then that would make sense. In my case, not so much. I drive a total of about 15 miles per day, since I take the train to work everyday. The other thing is, in all of my previous vehicles, that area to put stuff in the center console, just seemed to always get filled with dust and crap, always was a pain in the arse to keep clean and looking nice, etc. - I'll just stick with my seat console. With three cup holders, I usually just use one for my drink, one for my dip cup, and one for my phone - works out fine. In addition, my wife likes to put her purse on the floor up front, center, which isn't possible, if the extended center console is there. She agreed to let me get this truck and she handles the finances ... gotta keep her happy, lol.
  4. Same reason for me and the Chevy. I bought it on new year's eve, which meant, not only the last day of the month, but last day of the year. The rebates I got were insane good, trade-in on my '07 Hyundai Sonata was good, etc. Plus, the Chevy dealership is directly across the street from the train station and I work in the Loop, downtown Chicago (yes, it's a sh*thole), it sucks. But, whenever I need stuff done on the truck, I can just walk across the street, still get to work.
  5. Will do, should be early next week, I think. It doesn't surprise me that the GMC and Chevy ride the same, they really are the same truck. Mine is not Z71, just straight-up 4x4. Not sure if the shocks/suspensions are that different? Mine is soft and springy as hell - when I go over a railroad track, hold on tight, because it goes up and down real high and low, as if in a boat. I like it that way, but we all have different tastes. Mine is the LT, with the Texas Edition package (called All-Star up here), which means it came with everything except cooled seats, the center extended console, and leather. I can add the cooled seats and leather at any time, but I'm glad I don't have the extended center console - my wife likes to put her purse on the floor there, and the extra underneath locked storage makes a great gun safe, lol.
  6. Ha! If your truck is silver, then you are absolutely in the right thread - welcome! It would be fun to have people disclose why they picked Chevy, or why they picked GMC. Personally, if I was going to be hauling or towing things on a regular basis, I probably would have picked the GMC. I picked the Chevy, because the drive and ride, was the closest thing to what the old Caddy, Buick, and Lincoln boat-sized sedan cars used to be. Test-drove the F150 - did not like it at all. Shocks/suspension was too rigid and the interior was too plastic-looking and frankly, ugly. Ditto for the Dodge Ram - not my thing. I did not even consider Nissan or Toyota. In addition, the cloth seats in the Silverado were easily the softest. Hell, the leather seats in the F150 were like concrete, terrible. In the end, I went with the LT, and have been adding/upgrading multiple things, which is cheaper in the long run, than buying the LTZ up front. Waiting for my Rally 1 grille to come in, and then will look into the perforated leather seats, next.
  7. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that Silver Ice Metallic and Quicksilver Metallic are the exact same thing. They just used different names for the Chevy and GMC models. I've never understood why there needs to be two "makers" like this. They are the exact same trucks, other than little things, such as certain accessories. The grilles are different, the light illumination colors on the dash consoles are different (blue in Chevy, red in GMC), etc.
  8. I sort of agree on the chrome. I like chrome, but not when it's overkill. I just ordered the silver ice paint surround with black inners grille - there's a picture of one on here, earlier in the thread. It's the Rally 1 edition paint scheme grille. I would also prefer to have my Texas Edition and Silverado emblems be black, instead of chrome, but around here (northern Illinois), plasti-dip is not a smart option, due to inclement weather, salt, etc. I see a lot of Nissan and Lexus cars around here, in which the owner plasti-dipped the emblems and wheels, and after about 6 months, they look absolutely terrible. I suppose that spray-painting them black is an option, but far more of a hassle, than it's probably worth, I'd say.
  9. Yeah, I don't know about this. Something just seems inherently wrong, about slapping plastic handle covers held on by 3M adhesive tape, on a $48,000 truck. I also have the chrome one for the tailgate handle, since the bowtie is black, figured chrome would look better, but would actually prefer that to be silver. I think I'm going to look into having the handles painted, rather than putting the plastic covers on. Depends on what it will cost.
  10. I haven't put them on permanently yet, just placed the black door handle covers on, to see how it looks. Hmmm, I don't know how these are going to hold up over the years of cold and heat, etc. Does anyone else here have any experience with door handle and tailgate handle covers? It looks sweet, but I'm not sure about this.
  11. Looks great! I'm also usually not a fan of the bed caps (just resembles an SUV a bit much, as opposed to a "truck"), but that one looks super sharp, very nice. Probably the nicest-looking one I've ever seen, wow. I'm going to get the Katzkin seats for mine, as well and will probably go with black, since that's the color of my dash, console, etc. However, that silver would look good, too.
  12. Got the powder-coated steel black side steps put on yesterday. Best part about it, they were free. The dealership who transferred it to the one I bought it from, screwed up - put it on the invoice as included with the truck, but they weren't included. End result - I got them for free, and now my dealership is owed about $500 by the other one. Gonna stop by a detail place today, look into getting my chrome emblems dipped black.
  13. Really nice - looks exactly like mine does off the lot, except mine is a 2015, so our front grilles are different, that's about it. I also initially wanted the white one and in fact, agonized over it greatly for a month, until I realized that, especially around here (Chicago), all of the white trucks just look like mainstream fleet and utility trucks, etc. That made me real happy that I have the silver truck. No regrets, all good. Just over the weekend, I had gloss black wheel skins put on - looks good, but I need to plasti-dip the center cap and lugs. A month ago, I had the gold bowties taken off, and put black ones on. Silver + black = awesome. Next up, I'm going to gloss black plasti-dip the Silverado and LT chrome emblems. I'm also going to put the Texas Edition emblems on it. This truck came with the All-Star Edition package, which is the same as Texas, but doesn't have an emblem. Besides, the word "Texas" on the truck, will likely annoy people around here, which is totally fine with me, lol. Need to get black running boards and door handle covers, as well.
  14. sailor - That looks awesome. I love the smaller wheels and bigger tires that are on the one you pictured, as well. I'm the last person who "needed" a pickup truck, but the fact is ... I'm done with these modern 4-door sedan cars, and their ridiculous big rims with low-profile racing tires. That was my entire reason for getting my first truck - going back to the luxury "big boat" ride. I had a 1991 Caddy Sedan DeVille back in the day, loved it. They don't make sedans like that anymore, and I would argue that these trucks, are the last vehicle left, that rides like the old boat-sized cars. I'm not sure I'd ever need to "lift" the truck (no Z71 or off-roading for me - hello, I'm in Chicago, lol), but if I can get the smallest wheel with the biggest tire possible someday, that's what I'd prefer to do. The softer and smoother the ride, the better I like it.
  15. Hey all, glad I found this forum. On New Year's Eve 2015, I bought a new 2015 Silverado 1500 LT, All-Star Edition, and absolutely love it. I would have initially preferred a white one, but the silver has grown on me and continues to. The only thing I've done so far, was had the black bowties put on the grill and tailgate. I think the black and silver go together nicely. Looking for opinions and advice here ... I'm having trouble deciding whether to trim everything else (door handles, running boards, etc.) in chrome or black. Chrome obviously compliments silver nicely, but there's something undeniably awesome, about mixing silver and black.
