  1. Welcome. Man, those are rare. I've never even seen a single regular cab (no back seat at all) Silverado and I'm in the Chicago area with 12 million people, lol.
  2. Those Diamondbacks do look cool. As for whether there's a "perfect" cover or not, is more a personal thing. Mine is a fiberglass hard top made by Century, called the CargoLid. Yes, because it completely covers the top and edges of the bed, it's 100% waterproof. But, most truck owners don't like these at all, because it limits what you can use the bed for. In my case, I don't really use the bed, other than for things that fit in it with the lid closed, so I wanted more of a "car trunk" type on mine, that could be closed and locked, etc. The bulk of my truck bed use, is for tailgating gear to take to Purdue and Green Bay for football games. The fiberglass lid is perfect for me, but can totally see why it's not ideal for most truck owners.
  3. Looks great. This one is just like mine (Century) except there's one difference ... the keyhole. I did not get the Snug Top brand like yours, because being in Chicago, the ice and snow buildup on top of the cover, would be a problem. The Century version has the keyhole on the back edge, which is more ideal in my location. Other than that, they look identical.
  4. No problem ... it is made by Century and is called the Cargo Lid. They also carry another one called the Silhouette, but that one is a bit too "sporty" for my tastes. This one was (after throwing in labor, etc.) just a hair over $1,000. I think the base price is $950. As for waterproof, since this style has the overhang on three sides, no chance anything can leak in there, what matters is the back edge. If you scroll back up, look at the picture with the open lid - that's a full 360-degree rubber seal in there. It has poured here lately, no leaking whatsoever. My only regret, is that I didn't get the nice covering for underneath - that fiberglass is damn sharp in some places - I won't go under there without a hat on. But, that's for another day. I also threw a Weather Tech bed mat in there. Anyways, if this is the style you want and it falls into your budget for getting one, here's the Century web site. Just look for the nearest authorized dealer near you, and take it from there. I looked around for a long time, and this one had everything I wanted - low-profile, flat, sharp design, and also - the keyhole is on the back. Many of these have the keyhole on the top, which I wanted no part of. That's just asking for ice hassles, etc., and I'm near Chicago. You know how that goes in the winter. http://www.centurycaps.com/cargolid
  5. CowboyMan - Excellent, thanks - I'll look into this. That said ... Go Packers, lol.
  6. Totally annoyed that I can't wash the painted lid for 90 days. I thought they were joking, but apparently they were serious. Can anyone recommend a good non-abrasive car wash soap, that I can use on it in the meantime? I was told by Century - no abrasive soaps and no drying it with a towel at all.
  7. Both of these sound like awesome ideas. What is the procedure do to these things? I'd imagine it's not that difficult.
  8. Wondering if there's a way to re-wire the cargo lights, to a new light inside the bottom of the lid? Then again, I can always use a damn flashlight, lol. Doing all of this work, might be overkill.
  9. Yeah, there is just enough room to use the bumper step, and still climb up into the truck bed, etc. This lid pretty much renders my cargo light as useless now, obviously. I'll get a couple of LED lights and just mount them on the bottom of the lid.
  10. This type of cover isn't real popular around here, but here it is. I won't be baling any hay or helping people move. I do like it, but not happy that I can't go through the car wash for 90 days - something about the clearcoat/paint needs that long to fully cure, or whatever, and the brushes aren't good for it. So I'll just wash it by hand until then.
  11. I just received the call that my cargo lid cover by Century is ready. I'll post pics on Friday, after I've had it installed. Then I'm slapping a Weather Tech bed mat in there and then that's gonna be about it, in terms of putting money into this truck for a while.
  12. BSea - That does look great on your truck, very nice. I ended up ordering the silver ice painted Century Cargo Lid flip-up. This will suit me just fine, as I barely use the bed for anything other than hauling luggage around, etc. I'll post a pic in a few weeks when it's arrived and installed for me. Also decided against doing a spray-in bed liner - that's just overkill, something I really don't need at all. I'll just get the Weather Tech bed mat, and be done with it.
  13. Yes, sir. All good. Give it a shot. You may need a certain angled socket wrench to get the bolts off, while the main seats are in place, but just tinker with it, they will come off.
  14. All you do is pop off those bolt covers on the sides - there's four of them. Now, to be frank, I did not re-bolt them back down - that's another project for another day. In the meantime, I just have mine sitting there, but moved a couple of inches forward, on the floor, but it's not exactly "secured", or anything. I don't have kids, and I would never let anyone sit there on that seat, to begin with - no way am I giving up that armrest, LOL. Therefore, it's really not a big deal, if it isn't secured to the floor - it's heavy enough, and doesn't move around at all. Later this year, I'll get around to securing it with new bolts, etc. But, I'm 5'10" and with the seat where I need it, it was too far back, so I said screw the bolts, and moved it forward. If you do this, be careful not to move or pull it too far forward - you've got wires all up in there, for your USB's, SD card, 12V inside and 12V on the back of it. But, it's SO much nicer having it moved forward. Chevy must assume everyone is 6'3", or something. It also makes the back seat much roomier, as well.
  15. To each their own - it's YOUR truck, do what you want to with it, by all means. This just seems like an awful lot of hassle and work to deal with, just to get more 12V and USB outlets. Just my two cents, but these are the reasons I wanted the jump seat center console and did not want the full-size version from day one ... 1. I like that I was able to move the jumper seat forward a few inches, to allow more arm placement on the armrest, relative to where my seat is, in terms of comfortable driving. The default position was too far back. On the full-size console, this is not an option - the armrest has to stay where it is - I'm not a fan of that. 2. The full-size console gets way more dirty, filled with dust and crap, etc. Not a big deal, but that always annoyed me in previous vehicles. 3. I like having three cup holders there, as opposed to two. One for the smartphone, one for a drink, one for the dip cup, lol. 4. I like annoying my liberal friends, by showing them the locked gun safe below the seat. That gets their undies in a bunch, real quick. 5. My wife likes to put her purse on the carpet in the front center. Can't do that with the full-size console. Happy wife = happy life. So, those are just my opinions. When I had the cloth seats, it didn't look as "classy and LTZ" as the full-size center console. But since I had the black Katzkin leather put in, it looks as nice as anything else. Here's a pic of it ...
