Welcome. Man, those are rare. I've never even seen a single regular cab (no back seat at all) Silverado and I'm in the Chicago area with 12 million people, lol. -
2014+ Truck Bed / Tonneau Covers

Those Diamondbacks do look cool. As for whether there's a "perfect" cover or not, is more a personal thing. Mine is a fiberglass hard top made by Century, called the CargoLid. Yes, because it completely covers the top and edges of the bed, it's 100% waterproof. But, most truck owners don't like these at all, because it limits what you can use the bed for. In my case, I don't really use the bed, other than for things that fit in it with the lid closed, so I wanted more of a "car trunk" type on mine, that could be closed and locked, etc. The bulk of my truck bed use, is for tailgating gear to take to Purdue and Green Bay for football games. The fiberglass lid is perfect for me, but can totally see why it's not ideal for most truck owners. -

Looks great. This one is just like mine (Century) except there's one difference ... the keyhole. I did not get the Snug Top brand like yours, because being in Chicago, the ice and snow buildup on top of the cover, would be a problem. The Century version has the keyhole on the back edge, which is more ideal in my location. Other than that, they look identical. -

No problem ... it is made by Century and is called the Cargo Lid. They also carry another one called the Silhouette, but that one is a bit too "sporty" for my tastes. This one was (after throwing in labor, etc.) just a hair over $1,000. I think the base price is $950. As for waterproof, since this style has the overhang on three sides, no chance anything can leak in there, what matters is the back edge. If you scroll back up, look at the picture with the open lid - that's a full 360-degree rubber seal in there. It has poured here lately, no leaking whatsoever. My only regret, is that I didn't get the nice covering for underneath - that fiberglass is damn sharp in some places - I won't go under there without a hat on. But, that's for another day. I also threw a Weather Tech bed mat in there. Anyways, if this is the style you want and it falls into your budget for getting one, here's the Century web site. Just look for the nearest authorized dealer near you, and take it from there. I looked around for a long time, and this one had everything I wanted - low-profile, flat, sharp design, and also - the keyhole is on the back. Many of these have the keyhole on the top, which I wanted no part of. That's just asking for ice hassles, etc., and I'm near Chicago. You know how that goes in the winter. http://www.centurycaps.com/cargolid -

Totally annoyed that I can't wash the painted lid for 90 days. I thought they were joking, but apparently they were serious. Can anyone recommend a good non-abrasive car wash soap, that I can use on it in the meantime? I was told by Century - no abrasive soaps and no drying it with a towel at all. -

Both of these sound like awesome ideas. What is the procedure do to these things? I'd imagine it's not that difficult. -

Wondering if there's a way to re-wire the cargo lights, to a new light inside the bottom of the lid? Then again, I can always use a damn flashlight, lol. Doing all of this work, might be overkill. -

Yeah, there is just enough room to use the bumper step, and still climb up into the truck bed, etc. This lid pretty much renders my cargo light as useless now, obviously. I'll get a couple of LED lights and just mount them on the bottom of the lid. -

This type of cover isn't real popular around here, but here it is. I won't be baling any hay or helping people move. I do like it, but not happy that I can't go through the car wash for 90 days - something about the clearcoat/paint needs that long to fully cure, or whatever, and the brushes aren't good for it. So I'll just wash it by hand until then. -

I just received the call that my cargo lid cover by Century is ready. I'll post pics on Friday, after I've had it installed. Then I'm slapping a Weather Tech bed mat in there and then that's gonna be about it, in terms of putting money into this truck for a while. -

BSea - That does look great on your truck, very nice. I ended up ordering the silver ice painted Century Cargo Lid flip-up. This will suit me just fine, as I barely use the bed for anything other than hauling luggage around, etc. I'll post a pic in a few weeks when it's arrived and installed for me. Also decided against doing a spray-in bed liner - that's just overkill, something I really don't need at all. I'll just get the Weather Tech bed mat, and be done with it. -
Yes, sir. All good. Give it a shot. You may need a certain angled socket wrench to get the bolts off, while the main seats are in place, but just tinker with it, they will come off.
-
All you do is pop off those bolt covers on the sides - there's four of them. Now, to be frank, I did not re-bolt them back down - that's another project for another day. In the meantime, I just have mine sitting there, but moved a couple of inches forward, on the floor, but it's not exactly "secured", or anything. I don't have kids, and I would never let anyone sit there on that seat, to begin with - no way am I giving up that armrest, LOL. Therefore, it's really not a big deal, if it isn't secured to the floor - it's heavy enough, and doesn't move around at all. Later this year, I'll get around to securing it with new bolts, etc. But, I'm 5'10" and with the seat where I need it, it was too far back, so I said screw the bolts, and moved it forward. If you do this, be careful not to move or pull it too far forward - you've got wires all up in there, for your USB's, SD card, 12V inside and 12V on the back of it. But, it's SO much nicer having it moved forward. Chevy must assume everyone is 6'3", or something. It also makes the back seat much roomier, as well.
-
To each their own - it's YOUR truck, do what you want to with it, by all means. This just seems like an awful lot of hassle and work to deal with, just to get more 12V and USB outlets. Just my two cents, but these are the reasons I wanted the jump seat center console and did not want the full-size version from day one ... 1. I like that I was able to move the jumper seat forward a few inches, to allow more arm placement on the armrest, relative to where my seat is, in terms of comfortable driving. The default position was too far back. On the full-size console, this is not an option - the armrest has to stay where it is - I'm not a fan of that. 2. The full-size console gets way more dirty, filled with dust and crap, etc. Not a big deal, but that always annoyed me in previous vehicles. 3. I like having three cup holders there, as opposed to two. One for the smartphone, one for a drink, one for the dip cup, lol. 4. I like annoying my liberal friends, by showing them the locked gun safe below the seat. That gets their undies in a bunch, real quick. 5. My wife likes to put her purse on the carpet in the front center. Can't do that with the full-size console. Happy wife = happy life. So, those are just my opinions. When I had the cloth seats, it didn't look as "classy and LTZ" as the full-size center console. But since I had the black Katzkin leather put in, it looks as nice as anything else. Here's a pic of it ...

I absolutely could not agree more. I don't think it's selfish at all. I already told everyone what should be common sense by now ... once you're about 35 or 40 years old, you should be done asking people to help you move. Budget yourself to hire movers. I don't mind helping someone move things here and there, a few items, etc. But a full move of all their things? No. We are way past all that, I'm not doing it. I've pretty much decided on the Ranch myself, just waiting for the local dealer to get back to me, to get it ordered, etc. The Diamondback SE previously pictured is nice, too. I guess I just like the flat, smooth paint scheme of the Ranch style. -

Ha, not at all - they do look nice, though. As long as we love the trucks we own and drive, I don't think it matters what's on 'em. I can't seem to leave the damn thing alone, though. My wife is about ready to kill me. Just did Katzkin black leather last week. Had to. Lesson I'm learning quickly is this ... when you buy a car, you generally just leave it alone. But these trucks? Uh-uh. I seem to find something new every day, I'd like to modify or customize, etc. -

I agree - the Lux and Ranch type I'm leaning heavily towards ... in a sense, they really are more for "looks", than functionality. I've owned my truck for over 6 months, and the only single thing that's been in the bed, are two mountain bikes that I moved for a friend, which, technically, can be done with a car, too. Besides, pretty much any more, these days, even if you buy an appliance at Home Depot or wherever, it has to get delivered, as part of the warranty process, if they're doing the install work, etc. That said, for people like me who are in a metro/suburbs area, the need to move big items, isn't quite what it used to be. The only time I can envision filling that bed up, is if I take 4 people camping/fishing, or on some big road trip, etc. Therefore, I think the Lux or Ranch Sportwrap type, would suit me just fine. I have Green Bay Packers season tickets and I stay two nights up there - if I take 4 people up there, we can fit all luggage, coolers, tailgating gear, etc. in there fine, with a hard top. Each person's lifestyle and needs are different. I may catch flak for this, but I bought that truck purely for the luxury aspect of it, and how it drives and rides like the old 70's and 80's Cadillac boat-sized sedan cars. I'm the last idiot who "needs" a pickup truck. But, this thing is an absolute dream, and I'll never go back to a car. Ever. -

Hmmm, well, you guys all have some really nice bed cover types, and they all look great. But, I think I'm just going to get the Ranch Sportwrap painted hard top that just flips up and down. These Chicago winters can be brutal. My friends who have trucks - most of them just have the vinyl roll-up types, and after 5+ years of ice, salt, and snow getting on them, they mostly look faded and terrible. The ones you guys have, involve those rails, racks, some have the little wheels to move the panels, etc. - there's no telling what years of road salt, cold, etc. will do to those. I think that due to the environment and climate I live in, during the winter, the hard top is probably the best option, long-term. -

It's time to look into a bed cover for mine. Does anyone here have the flip-up, painted hard covers and what are your experiences with them? Just curious if anyone knows which kinds (brands) are the most user-friendly to take off, put back on, etc. Thus far, I'm considering the Ranch Sportwrap, and a few others. Anyways, just looking for opinions, thanks. -

Thanks, but can't take credit - they really did a good job. If you want to get these seats in yours, go see your dealership - if you're in a decent size market area, they should have someone who does their cars/trucks for them. My Chevy dealership usually gives out a loaner car while the truck is being done, as well. -

Okay, so here's pics. The Katzkin seats - I went with all-black solid leather (no perf), and all-black stitching. They couldn't Plasti-Dip the Texas Edition emblem, because the star is attached to the "edition" piece - due to the way you peel off Plasti-Dip excess, they didn't want to do it. I may just take those off, and buy the black ones, with the white background on the "edition" part. The seats turned out fantastic, can't complain. I paid $900 total for everything - I think the Top Coverage company here, gave my Chevy dealership a discount, because of all the business they give them. Pretty sure I got lucky there, because I was initially quoted $1,300 in total. I always appreciate a discount! -

I bought the ABS plastic gloss black door handles for mine, but chose not to put them on. The silver paint just looks so much better and there's something just terribly tacky, about sticking plastic handle covers, on a nice truck like that. I decided against it. -

Yes, sir, I sure will. I think you and I discussed yours once before - yours are painted black, which is the best way to go. I didn't have that option - they had to Plasti-Dip mine, but they showed me the process - they finish it with some kind of clear coat, etc. They pretty much have to around here (northern Illinois), with all the salt and winter crap, etc. The company is called Top Coverage - they're Chicago-area, with two locations. They specialize in doing the Katzkin leather seats, but they also do emblems, sunroofs, etc. I'll post pics as soon as I can. -

LOL, oh trust me ... you'll think of something. I got mine on new year's eve, 2015 - just over six months ago, and I haven't even gotten to the liner and bed cover yet. It never really ends. I get mine back tomorrow, had all black Katzkin leather put in, and they blacked all of my emblems out. Can't wait to see it!!!
