  1. Onstar not needed! For anyone wondering, yes you do need some sort of internet connection. My solution was to have my cell phone "hot spot" enabled. This is usually a few dollars monthly from your cell carrier.(much cheaper than Onstar) Then go into connections on your infotainment system and connect to your cell phone and just like that your google maps and the speed limit widget will be working again. The only catch is you can't have wireless android or car play active at the same time as google maps! Pick the one you like better, either way the speed limit should work. Hope this helps!
  2. Just a quick update. Just got back from the dealer for safety inspection and infotainment software update. I had thought it was only one update but the dealer said there was a recall for the exact problem I was having. So, three software updates (all done today), now my wifi stays connected, my apps all work and update themselves as needed. If you're having this problem bring it to the dealer, they now have a fix for this problem.
  3. I have the exact same problem. My 2021 trail boss will connect to my home network for about 15 seconds and then say disconnected. I understood that there was an update to fix this problem, but I hate to let the idiots at the dealership touch my truck. Every time I do I get it back greasy or damaged. They try to clean or fix what the've done only to make it worse. I am living with the same wi fi problem. If you know of a fix please let me know!
  4. Pretty sure it's all but impossible to lock your key fob inside the truck. If you lose or misplace your key you can open the doors, start the engine but I believe once you go to put the truck in drive it will shut down. I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure that is how mine worked before they shut down my phone app.
  5. when they gave you a feature previously that was free and now you have to pay for as well as paying much more for the vehicle I get a little annoyed. My friend has a 2020 F150 and has most of the phone app features free of charge. My son in-law just bought a 2020 Ranger and he also has this feature free. I probably only used this once or twice when I had it with my 2018 Colorado but It was nice to have if you needed it. I'll never pay $ 15.00 a month to lock my doors remotely. I'm starting to think maybe my next truck might not be a GM.
  6. My 30 day trial of OnStar ( Which used to be 6 months) and my data plan has just expired. I can't access the app store and I was under the impression that updates over the air were done in some other way than the OnStar Wi-Fi account. I had this Wi-Fi problem even when my OnStar account was active, so I guess I'll just have to bring it to the dealer. I also just wanted to add how upset I am with Chevrolet that they took away the phone app unless you pay $14.99 a month. My 2018 Colorado had this feature for 10 years even if you didn't pay for the premium OnStar plans. Thanks Chevy, all my friends with Fords are laughing at me now because they get a lot more tech features FREE. Well. I guess I'm asking a lot for 50 grand!
  7. Just bought my 21 Trail Boss LT and I can't get my infotainment system to stay connected to my home Wi Fi. It will see my SSID's and will initially connect but then after a few seconds will disconnect. They are of course password protected and I enter the proper password. It will connect, just won't stay connected. Anyone else have this problem? I also wonder if being connected to my home Wi fi is the only way to have over the air updates done or does Chevy have another way of connecting to my vehicle?
  8. Thanks for the replies, I do feel better knowing that this is normal operation. I did read the owners manual, cover to cover but the chapter on charging system only states the charge will drop somewhat but it says nothing about the alternator completely shutting off. I had the same exact voltage at the battery with a multi meter while the engine was running as I did with the engine shut off. Not charging. It stayed at that voltage almost an hour while driving. a little concerning. thanks for the quick replies.
  9. Hey everyone, my first post and a little confused by my 2015 Silverado charging system. I know it has the EPM system but after driving for a few hours I noticed the voltmeter was just inside the left normal line about 12 or so volts. No messages or chimes but didn't seem to be charging. After stopping for gas and restarting the volt meter shot up to a little above 14 volts for about 1 - 2 minutes and slowly returned to the left most normal line. After returning home the volt meter still showed what seems to be low voltage so I checked with a multi meter and got 12.8 volts. shut the engine and checked again and still 12.8 so NO charge at all while running. After restart volts always go up to 14.2, so is this normal operation for this vehicle? I have other fairly new vehicles and none do this. Thanks and I'm sorry if this has been posted before but don't want to make a trip to the dealer if this is normal!
