  1. That's how mine looks. My bolt on the bottle that threads in to the fender sheet metal from above was loose. I pulled the bottle up tight to the side of the frame there, tightened that 10mm bolt down to reduce the load on that bolt with the bushing, and noise is gone.
  2. That one drives me nuts. Haven't been able to figure out how to fix that one.
  3. Update: still no harsh upshifts. Likely taking another cross-country trek with the travel trailer soon. Hope that harsh upshift doesn't return. PIP5971 is the bulletin for this. But I can't find any updates since March of 2024. @newdude how do I go about finding out if there are any updates?
  4. thread necro time. This was it! One GM couldn't spare a $0.001 locking washer on the left-most coolant bottle bolt and it'd worked itself loose.
  5. I wonder if mine is shot too. If my truck is parked and the steering column is unlocked, I can move the wheel several degrees back and forth without any resistance. All the precision of a 1978 Mack Truck in this ancient setup.
  6. nope. Still doing it at 20k miles. Not getting any worse.
  7. Plenty of frost heaves and craters. This truck runs back and forth to Wisconsin and back. The craters on I-40 in New Mexico around Gallup are up there with the worst the Midwest can dish out. Window tint is legal in AZ to a certain level. Most people go farther than legal. Nobody ever gets fined for it. Most of us actually tint our windshields too, which IS illegal, but even at 50%, not really noticeable. Makes an enormous difference.
  8. Pavement queen and stuff hauler. 18k miles with about 16k of those towing a travel trailer or a waterski boat.
  9. ride height is stock, truck was new off the lot when I got it. The ride isn't atrociously bad, I'm just surprised how well that Ford rode compared to my truck.
  10. standard bars at the factory setting I believe. It's pretty stiffly sprung. I run 55 PSI in the tires but could likely go lower. Part of the problem is the Rancho shocks have all the rebound damping of a pogo stick.
  11. Makes sense I suppose. Know of anyone making a multimatic type shock that doesn't completely break the bank? I have the 18" rims and can try to fit some 35s next time around. Guess so. I was quite impressed.
  12. I have the 18" rims and run low pressures already so not likely that.
  13. This is my first HD truck after a lifetime of half tons. I figured the rough ride was simply to be expected. I'd always read that amongst the HDs, GMs tend to ride the nicest. So I was absolutely shocked last week when I spent considerable time in an F350 Powerstroke w Tremor package and the ride quality was far far superior to my LTZ Z71 with 18k miles. Over road cracks and potholes that would have me bracing for impact in my truck, the Ford barely flinched. It wasn't as composed as my previous 1500 Denali, but it was closer to it ride-wise than it was to my LTZ. If Denali is 0 and LTZ is 10, the Tremor was probably a 3.5 or 4.0. I know the Rancho shocks suck... but is this just a matter of putting Bilstein 4600s on all corners and calling it good? I've already reprogrammed my TPMS to run lower tire pressures, running 55 PSI all around.
  14. I'll have a look at mine. I have 17k miles, probably 15k towing a travel trailer, but our SoP is I set up the trailer while mama and puppy wait in the idling truck, so hopefully that's cooling things down.
  15. If I ever quit camping, I'll go back to a half ton the next chance I could get one for a good price.
  16. I have a ProPride WDH because I started out towing my Imagine 2600RB with a half ton. I still use it on my HD because at this point, it's paid for and it simply can't be beat for towing and handling dynamics. I tow in mountains and in some wild cross winds and the thing just tracks. The truck and trailer move in unison as it's physically impossible to get one of those "tail wagging the dog" moments.
  17. I tow in the West a fair bit. If I know I'm going to be above 5000 feet for an entire tank, I'll run 85 or 86 Octane, then put in 88 or 89 in the next tank when I know I'm going down hill. Never an issue doing so even towing heavy in the hills.
  18. Can anyone else with a 2024 gas 10 speed replicate? Lock out 10th gear so 9th is the top gear selected, then go out on a highway and cruise at 80 MPH. My truck has recently started exhibiting a slight buzzing/vibration you can hear and feel in the dead pedal pretty evidently at speeds over 75 MPH, but only in 9th gear. I have a ski boat that the truck just loves to pull in 9th. It's quite annoying. 17k on the ticker.
  19. This only happens in forward gear with everything at operating temp. If I sit with my foot on the brake, I get this rattle. It goes away as soon as RPMs change even slightly so it doesn't do it in Park (which is why I can't diagnose it myself). Anyone else hearing this? 2024 with the 10 speed. https://photos.app.goo.gl/edm33P9k5v4Fu1E4A
  20. I've now driven about 3000 miles since having the fast learn and pressure reset done, almost all towing, and haven't had a rough shift since.
  21. Diode will drop the voltage a fraction, but who cares? This problem is because the onboard charging capability of the solar array is pushing the trailer potential above that of the truck. I don't need my truck charging my trailer. It charges itself just fine. If you don't have solar or a generator increasing the voltage on the trailer side, you probably don't need the recall done because your brakes shouldn't ever glitch out.
  22. You install the diode between the truck and that wire junction. Those other wires are coming from your charge controller, your solar, etc. They all meet there to push charge to your battery. I put in a diode last year, and with the 2023 controller TSB fix, haven't had a singe brake issue since over 6000+ miles.
  23. 1000 miles into the tow after the relearn and 8th gear shift is working flawlessly. Great to have it back as it's where the truck is happiest towing the camper.
  24. There was a TSB on this last year. I had my truck fixed with that TSB at the time. When it was in for the transmission re-learn, they said the truck had a recall and ordered a part for it. Is it the same part again? My trailer brakes have been perfect since they performed the TSB.
  25. Yeah, I know it's only a temporary fix, but since it was fine for a year, I'm hoping it's fine for another year after having this done. At least I hope it's fine for my camper tow from WI back to AZ next week, as it was lame going cross country without being to use 8th gear. I also wanted it done so there's a service record of my truck having the issue so I can hopefully get faster service once the fix is released. Crazy they've been working on this for months with no update though. Seems pretty obvious there's a software issue. Not sure if they have an ability to flash a firmware update but it'd seem that's the fix since it's clearly nothing mechanically wrong.
