  1. I have an appt in mid Sept to address this. They didn't have the techs available yesterday to check this out on my truck. If the solution is to install the 2023 braking module, that's fine, as long as that doesn't screw up other things. I think I'm still going to put the diode in place. I don't see a need to ever back-feed voltage into the truck.
  2. Standard gate, yes, multipro, no.
  3. GMC dealers here in AZ wouldn't budge off MSRP when I bought my Chevy in June. That's how I ended up with a Chevy.
  4. Double cabs are unicorns these days it seems. Guy next to me at a campsite in NM a couple weeks ago had a 2024 SLE double cab 6.6 gasser. I was shocked.
  5. +1 for Scangauge. On gauge layout, I got used to it immediately. I don't even look at the speedometer as the speed is always listed right in the center top of the gauge. Tach is an easy glance to the right. Being able to independently set what's inside the left and right dials is really cool. Infotainment has been great. My only beef with it is the response to taps when playing media (i.e. hitting pause) can be slow when running wireless AA. Feels like the screen isn't responsive, but it actually is. Imagine this is just something to do with the phone interface wirelessly as my other vehicles with the wired phone never had this issue. Minor nuisance. Major nuisance on the non-Denali/AT4 trim at least is the metallic trim piece that rides right under the infotainment screen. That thing is a glare factory. It sucks. I hate it. Try it for a while with the factory 36 gallon tank. I've been very impressed with the range I get with that tank when towing my camper. I plan our trips so we stop to pee every two hours or so and top off with gas. Most of the time I was putting in 17 gallons or so. I didn't find myself wanting a bigger tank a single time last month when I went cross-country and back. My previous truck was 26 gallons, which was hairy at times when crossing Northern NM, Southern CO. Not with the extra 10 gallons.
  6. I had this yesterday with Android Auto. All of a sudden it wouldn't connect wirelessly but would via USB. I tried: Deleting truck from phone and re-pairing. Deleting phone from truck and re-pairing. Deleting truck from Android auto. None of that worked until I went into the settings and turned off quick start mode on the infotainment screen. I then shut the truck off and went to do something else for 10 mins. Came back and restarted the truck. Bootup of the infotainment took close to a minute. With phone and truck both having "forgotten" each other, I re-did setup again and it worked. Went back into settings and reenabled quick start mode or whatever it's called and it has been working since.
  7. Some construction on I-44 through Missouri was so rough and so rotten on my recent cross country RV trek that it almost caused me to get divorced. WI is a mixed bag. Most of my time was on I-41 (still not used to calling it an interstate) and up around Neenah and a bit south of Lomira, that will rattle your fillings out. Same with a few stretches of 29 west of Wausau. But the WORST roads of the entire trip were definitely around the Twin Cities and Gallup New Mexico.
  8. Are you in FL? I tried calling Rivard to order a few months ago and they said they weren't taking any additional out of state orders.
  9. My truck goes in on Tuesday for service. Hoping they have the bulletin published by then so I can point the service director to that. Also need them to figure out why any trailer I plug in says the running lights don't work, and the running lights are always on. Will update what I hear.
  10. Haven't had a chance to install the diode and test yet but hope to soon. Just need time to wire it in when it's not a million degrees here in AZ. I'm planning to use this diode. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007HRO4X8?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1 Going to use that instead of the switch on the solar, because I sometimes like to drive with my generator powering the trailer to run the air conditioner.
  11. Doesn't matter what trailer I plug in, whether I use a 7 way extension or plug the trailer right into the truck. The display screen tells me that the running lights are not working. But they do work. In fact, they illuminate the second I plug the trailer into the truck with the engine on or off. They're getting a constant voltage somehow at all times. This in combination with the random brake disconnects has me wondering what on earth is going on with this dumb "smart" trailering setup on this truck. Anyone else seen this?
  12. does this happen all the time? I've had my hands free buttons stop responding before but usually they're fine after a restart. What happens if you press and hold that button with AA running? It should bring up the assistant, I'd think. I think a quick press rather than a long press triggers the native (not AA) voice commands, which probably require you to pay money because GM is annoying.
  13. I've ordered a diode I'm going to put into the 12v line so the trailer can't push any voltage back to the truck. Hope to do that, reconnect solar, then go for a drive to see if it fixed my problem.
  14. Agreed on the gauges on all points. I found myself looking for the voltmeter when towing too to see what it said when I'd get a "check trailer wiring" message. The digital gauges on my 2016 Denali were less customizable yet still far more useful than these. Hoping a software update will make this cluster more usable.
  15. Back home having towed around 4600 miles with the new 6.6L/Allison combo. The comments I've made so far still hold true. I expected a bit more power in the hills, but the biggest learning of the last 1000 miles or so is that the cruise control on the 2024 is not well suited to towing with this engine/transmission combo. It absolutely abuses the drivetrain. Driving through CO, NM, and AZ, I started driving manually in the big hills and it worked much better with less screaming high RPM.
  16. Mine seems to do this more at the start of the day, and it'll do the quick flash 10 times or so, then start flashing normally. Truck goes in for service in a week or so when we get home from our cross country trip so I'm hoping my local dealer can source the updated lamps.
  17. I actually had this issue yesterday with NO solar connected, NO generator running, nothing. Just pulling the trailer along when I got the "Check trailer wiring" message. I squeezed the manual brake slider and nada, for about 2 seconds, then full power with a "Trailer brakes connected" message. This was coming down the south slope of the Raton Pass in New Mexico so that was super fun. I am an engineer and have sympathy for them generally, except when they're endangering my family. Not sure how this hasn't warranted a "Stop sale" from GM until repaired. I'd imagine the lawyers would hate the liability.
  18. I have a 2024 LTZ with the factory 18" rims and Michelin rubber. I'm considering picking up a set of new Denali take-offs, but I'm curious if anyone knows if the center caps from my wheels will work on the GMC rims. If so, I may just get them painted to match and go with the take-offs.
  19. That's the way to go. Should be a great truck!
  20. Did you ever find a solution for this? I have a 2024 HD with this interior and that glare is driving my wife and I both crazy.
  21. so the steering might fail completely, and your trailer brakes might randomly disconnect going down a mountain. Sounds like fun!
  22. unloaded it'll cruise in 9-10 no problem. It'll cruise at 75 MPH towing my ski boat in 9 no problem. The travel trailer has the aerodynamics of a container ship is the problem...
  23. True, but my priority when shopping was to get something with excessive payload and increased safety margin when towing in the mountains and needing to stop, swerve, etc. The HD blows away the half tons in that regard. And that's why I'm happy with the truck overall. It meets the primary objective in spades. Running roughly 70 MPH, 8th gear is around 2250 RPM. 7th is just around 2600 RPM. 6th is 3250 RPM. Just my seat of the pants feel, but it feels like the engine would be happy around 2900-3000 RPM for the times it drops to 6th. The reason I say that is if you are using cruise, on an incline, you lose MPH in 8th, and in 7th, but it accelerates right back up to set speed in 6th.
  24. All new electrical architecture on several components. I have the trailer brake/solar issue, which annoys me greatly, but everything else electronically has been OK so far. I did have one instance where my driver's side blindspot monitor was seeing ghosts, but that resolved on its own on the next time out. Things I thought I'd like but am somewhat disappointed in: Trailering electronics: I needed to buy a stupid pigtail for the 7 way so my cameras would work because GM can't just supply a steady 12v to the lights for some dumb reason. Engine power: I guess it's a punched out 6.2 basically, and that engine likes to rev too, so I shouldn't be surprised by the weak low RPM power. I had about a 12 MPH crossing headwind in the grassy plains of NE Colorado today and it wouldn't shift past 7th gear and would drop to 6th and rev about 3250 RPM at the slightest incline running 68-70 MPH. Transmission gear spacing. It goes from 8th to 6th far too often when towing. I don't need 5 gears below 6th but I would love another one between 6th and 8th. Adaptive cruise for towing: I thought I'd like this, but it's really not very useful at all. You'll be tooling along at 70 MPH or so with your cruise on and someone will pass you, then do the right thing and get out of the passing lane, but if they are only going 3-5 MPH faster than you, when they pull in front of you, the cruise hits the brakes. This always seems to happen at the bottom of a hill you're about to climb. After using it for about a thousand miles on the way east last month, I disabled it and am using regular cruise. Touch screen lag and sensitivity when using Android Auto. Seems like you need to long press each location to get a response when trying to play a text or play/pause music. Things I really like: The cameras. I don't use the transparent trailer since I already have a Haloview with a mirror-mounted display, but the built-in cameras are awesome. The trailer blind spot camera has come in handy dozens of times. Flip on the indicator, look at the blind spot cam, then the haloview cam. If it's the same vehicle in both, clear to move over. The hitch cam is excellent for hooking up. Wireless Android Auto. Nice to not have a cable. Wireless charging. I had this on my old truck but the pad was too small for modern phones. The handling when towing. I did all the mods I could to make the half ton tow well, but this tows better. Rubber floor liners. I have a Golden Retriever. 'nuff said. The power tailgate. I dig being able to push a button and walk away, or use the keyfob to raise or lower. The DW loves this feature too.
