  1. I know the GMC blue for 2024 is still not orderable. Anyone know if that's true for Chevy also? Or know what colors are available to order now?
  2. I'm toying with going from ventilated leather in my Denali back to cloth in the next truck. Biggest concern with the cloth is my golden retriever. That hair can embed itself in solid marble it seems...
  3. Looking forward to the tow report after the long trek. Towing over the moutains between PHX and San Diego on I-8 has given me more urgency to make a truck upgrade happen. Talked to a guy with a 6.4L RAM and a trailer like my GD who made the same drive and he never broke 3500 RPM. The GM 6.6 and 10 speed should work even better than his 6.4/8 speed, and much better than my 5.3/8 speed.
  4. obviously the dashes and such are improved in the 2024, but are the seats the same?
  5. I find them really helpful for seeing down the side of the trailer when you're backing in a turn. I have a light pole and an RV gate to navigate parking at my house and while my truck is angled and I'd usually be blind down that side of the trailer, I can flip that camera into fullscreen view and see right down the side. They're not perfect, but they work pretty well for that on my 26 foot TT. YMMV of course!
  6. I replaced both front marker lights with cameras looking down the sides of mine too. I have a display screen that straps to the rear view mirror. I usually just drive with only the rear camera displaying, but if I'm in heavy multi-lane traffic, I'll switch to triple-view. That's great for seeing what's alongside your trailer, and is a godsend for backing into tight spaces. Mine's the Haloview RD7.
  7. Do you guys use Android Auto or Apple Carplay? In my 2016, if I'm going anywhere, even just a couple miles up the road, I usually have Android Auto up on the screen. I don't bother with any of the apps that are in the system from GM. On the new trucks, I'd do the same thing. I just see the new screen as a nicer screen for my Android Auto display.
  8. Lived in Appleton M-F, but really "lived" on the lake a bit outside of Crandon growing up.
  9. If you haven't ever burnished your brakes, you should do that. Major difference in trailer brake strength once the shoes are properly burnished.
  10. This year is going to be a repeat of last year. Headed to Silver Strand State Beach in Coronado CA next week for my birthday. In July, we do the "BIG TOW." From Arizona to NE Wisconsin, returning sometime in August. We did both of these trips last year, and the half ton Denali with the 5.3L and 8 speed surpassed all my expectations. I put on Roadmaster Active Suspension out back, and LT tires all around, and with the ProPride hitch, it does really well. The 8 speed is the key. In November, we do a "Friendsgiving" camp at Catalina State Park in Oro Valley AZ. Beautiful location. Next truck, I'm on the hunt... Have my eye on ordering something like this saved build. Stepping down from crew to extended cab to fit in the garage. Will I miss the full back seat? Will my dog (she's the only one who ever uses it)? If GM would build a half-ton-sized 3/4 ton in a spec I want (AT4 please), I couldn't give them my money fast enough.
  11. We almost bought the 2800BH (assume that's what you have) to give our dog a place to sleep and to get the bunk storage!
  12. Nice! 2600RB? That's what I have. 2022 model. I'm UWSkier on the GD forums too.
  13. Black sheep 23, no. They're nice trucks with proven powertrains and well-ironed-out kinks in things like infotainment, etc. However, in order for me to consider one, it'd need to be VERRY steeply discounted. I, for one, welcome the 10 speed AND the new interior. I tow in the mountains and go cross-country with a travel trailer. I have a half ton with the 5.3L and one of the rare, good 8 speed transmissions. In the rolling hills of the Ozarks, for instance, I could use another cog between 3 and 4. 6.6 is a whole different beast, but with two less gears, has the same issues. Even the RAM 6.4L with 8 speed needs more gears. Yep, it's more complex, but I don't want a diesel and the 10 speed ensures you're pretty much always right in the sweet spot. @the8rotor I'm very much looking forward to your towing report!
  14. Same here. The fart distributor seats are a firm requirement on all my vehicles.
  15. I hate what Jalopnik has become... but the article isn't wrong... There's way too much "I'm gonna be a big rig when I grow up" in modern trucks. I'm getting pretty frustrated HD shopping trying to find something that will fit in a normal sized garage with room to walk around it. My half ton crew cab is the PERFECT size. Height and length are just right. Even the shortest double cab I can get is 10 inches longer than my half ton. Give me a half ton crew with something like Ford's HDPP, 2300 lbs of payload or better, and the 6.6L gasser with Allison 10 speed and I'd be a very happy camper! GM, I'm not alone...
  16. The paint is soft, but it's also really easy to correct, so that part isn't bad. Scratches come right out with the DA.
  17. That's what they do in the video. They weigh tow vehicle and trailer axles with and without WDH engaged. With it engaged, a couple hundred pounds are transferred back to the trailer axles. There's tongue weight, then there's "effective" tongue weight.
  18. It's a little bit of a mind-screw but this isn't true. Ideally, one should weigh the trailer and truck with and without WDH engaged. Without, your rear axle of your truck will be heavy. With it engaged, you will see an increase in weight born by the front axle of the truck and the trailer axles. This video is probably the best explanation of this concept I've seen.
  19. IDK, I have a ProPride for my RV and I can hitch that up just as fast as I can my ski boat trailer.
  20. Same here. In a RAM, I can get an actual crew cab to fit in my garage since they're not obsessed with making their trucks longer than the Queen Mary like Ford and GM are. Ford will build you an extended cab Lariat too... Pretty disappointing since I've been waiting for GM to get with the program on the interior amenities, but I'm not buying a 75k truck to park out in the driveway... I miss the days where the only way to know if you were looking at a 1500 or 2500 was to look at the wheels or the door badging.
  21. Fun fact of trailer shopping is that most of them are quite a bit heavier from the factory than the number suggests. Once you add batteries, propane, jacks, chocks, lawn chairs... your tongue weight will be hundreds of pounds higher than what the trailer manufacturer states. In fact, most are much heavier even without all that stuff. Another nice benefit of WDH is it can help lift your truck up off any overload springs. Ideally, you want a couple inches of suspension travel before engaging those springs because of the roughness they bring to the ride.
  22. @jjackkrash the downpour in the configurator looks great. Pretty similar to your current color probably. I dig it!
  23. Are they no longer offering SLT spec in the Double Cab? I'm hoping the tool is just incomplete because I don't want the Crew Cab land-yacht length. That's 20 inches longer than my Crew Cab 1500. Me garagey no likey.
  24. Any update to this on pricing now that the 19th has come and gone? Now that the 6.6 has the 10 speed, I'm about 90% sure that's my next truck. @20Denali22regarding travel trailer with a half ton, there are some things you can do to make it a night and day different experience. Half tons come with squishy P-metric tires. Change to load range E. Put Roadmaster Active Suspension on the rear end. I spent the $3500 on a ProPride hitch too, which is pricey but worth every penny. I did a 4000 mile round trip last summer towing my trailer from AZ to WI and back via some mountainous terrain and winds in the plains. 5.3L and 8 speed did shockingly well. Super easy drive. Only thing I'd have liked is another gear between 3 and 4 on the climbs. If the 4k wasn't going to be an annual trip, I'd stick with half ton with the mods I mentioned.
