  1. The 6980 was from the 2015 model so it comes with an SD card slot inside as well, but it does fit. I ended up switching my USB/aux port from inside the original fold down console with the USB/aux/SD port that came with the 6980 console, and now my apple carplay works as well.
  2. I have a 2016 Siverado 2500, and I had all the USB ports charging and supplying data. I originally ordered the parts for the 2015 model so I would have the SD card slot inside the console, but was unable to get the CarPlay option to work. Today I tried installing the USB port from my original jumpseat and was able to get CarPlay to work. So for anyone with a 16 or newer, it is important to order the correct year parts so the USB ports are configured correctly.
  3. Everything in the post above yours here should work for you other than the trim panel which has synthesis for the trim. everything else is the black console with white stitching, and black side trims with front bracket and USB cable to go from the HMI green port to back of triple usb port on panel. You can contact one of the online retailers listed throughout this thread and give them your vin # to have them look up what trim you have and then get the appropriate trim panel. I ordered most of mine through this website - http://www.generalmotorspartsonline.com/
  4. Yes, it matches the dash trim.
  5. I found the cable online. I think I ordered that from GMpartsonline, so I don't know if it is something the dealer would stock. The fuse is likely located in teh passenger side. I know that is where the USB fuse is located. Boy that side was a real bear to get off the first time. Seems to have loosened up a bit after that. I am still confused as to why I get data transfer, but no Apple Car play. It just doesn't seem to recognize the iphone, but it plays music off it. I checked part numbers and the USB ports have the same part number for 2015 and 2016 on the center consoles, but I thought someone stated that 2016 models didn't have the SD card port on them. Not sure why they would have the same part number if they made a change like that. The triple USB is the same part number as well.
  6. My glove box USB did work with the radio.
  7. It is working. To verify, I shut off bluetooth on my phone, ejected data card, so the only input I have is the lightning cable from my iphone plugged into the USB port. The cable I specified above is color coded with a green end to match the green input (port originally used for glove box USB cable connection) on the HMI, and a grey end for the port on the rear of the triple USB. More importantly, the angled notch is on the correct side for each plug, so there is no trimming needed and they snap in solidly.
  8. I did not splice those two together. I used the red and black wires only from the USB power plug off the new harness. I believe TBarn stated in an earlier post that the other wires (blue, green, purple, and gray) weren't used for anything. I spliced the (red and black) with the (Purple/yellow and black) from the 12V plug as well as the (brown/white and black) from the LED wiring. Then I connected those two single leads to power and ground. I didn't want to splice into the existing harness at all for warranty reasons. So I have one lead that powers the LED, additional 12V plug and Triple USB port in front of console. For the Data portion I used the cable listed above AC Delco 19303284 to run from the Triple USB to the HMI. I didn't want an additional connection involved with the data transfer, and everything snapped together like OEM. Hope this helps.
  9. I just finished the swap and would like to thank those ahead of me for all the information. I used these part numbers 23467113 Upper trim panel in Synthesis 22776807 Console assembly front bracket 23467516 Side trim 22817347 Side trim 23466980 Console 19303284 Cable from HMI to USB I have a 2016 2500HD LT model with black leather seat. The cable I used is a perfect match to the HMI and USB(3) ports. I used the existing harness for the rear ports, and then salvaged the LED wiring, a 12V plug, and USB power plug from the new harness. I spliced the three together and connected them to continuous power at the fuse panel on right side. I then removed the glove box USB cable and used the open port on the HMI for the new cable to the triple USB port. I have everything working including data and charging at the USB's. I originally had Apple carplay in the original configuration, but that no longer works. I think it might be due to the new console and the ports that are installed. Carplay wasnt' available on the 2015 models, so it may be the configuration of the hub built into the ports. I found another console 23466999 which I believe is for the 2016 models but I couldn't confirm that. I also preferred having the SD card slot over the carplay feature.
  10. When you spliced the new harness into old plug, are all the wires color coded the same? I suppose this gets you the led and for some the extra cig/12v plug. I was looking at going the other route so I could have continuous power on the LED and front USB's. Seems like everything in the jump seat console is controlled by the ignition. Tech boy did what you are talking about with the glove box USB and said it worked for him. That is what I was trying out, but for some reason I initially had music and car play working and then when I tried it a second time it didn't do anything. maybe I didn't have a good connection with the USB mini plug. I am still trying to understand how they can combine two or three USB ports together and get data on each one. I originally thought they had a custom USB plug using all the pins for data transfer and then the separate power plug, but I don't see how they get the third USB port or the SD card in there as well.
  11. I am thinking it is the USB cable being used. I took apart my flip console and tried running a mini B cable from that port (in place of the regular harness plug) to the A port in the glove box and had car play working for a short time. Both locations supported car play before I changed anything. Some earlier tries may have had more to do with older HMI's and the programming. I ordered the cable #19303328 so I will see if that works. It looks like it should plug right in without any alteration. Mini B plugs actually have a fifth pin in them, but I don't know if it is ever used, but that could be a possibility as well. Normally they have two for power and two for data. Did you splice the old harness plug onto the new harness? edit: I have since cancelled the cable as I discovered that there are small differences in the port and plugs. SOme have a cut out on the bottom right and some the bottom left. Not sure what that is, but I noticed they are different on the HMI between the blue and green ports. Will have to wait for the console plate to arrive to see which I would need.
  12. Thanks for all the info. I ordered my parts today. One last thing, is the mini USB you ordered the 193xxxxx or the 208xxxx part number, I saw both of them posted. I assume you are running that from the front usb to the hmi. Looks like I will take a usb plug, 12v plug and led light/sw from new harness and splice them into power on the existing harness. That way I can do everything at the work bench rather than trying to solder up under the dash. Seems like everything else should plug right in.
  13. I am thinking of doing this swap as well. Since you just ordered the parts, can you tell me if the lid and rear plate came as part of the console. If you wouldn't mind posting the current part numbers and what trim colors they were for, and even pricing if not asking too much. What is the airbag question about? Am I correct in the assumption that there is only one mini USB port on the rear plug of the triple USB in the upper plate (Front) location? Has anyone ever traced the where this USB plug goes to after the main harness on console standard models? Does it go into the radio? Maybe the HMI?
