  1. I agree. I have years as an accident reconstruction expert. It would take a crash that would probably be unsurvivable before that tab could come loose with the seat down. i.e. buckling of the rear or bottom of the cab.
  2. I folded the bottom up then reached behind the the seat back and marked the tab. It looks to be about 2 and 5/16 inches. I would mark then cut. Not sure how standard this is. Yours may be set slightly lower or higher.
  3. Seat in normal position Seat bottom folded up. This is all that is available without the mod. Both seat an back folding forward. Seat Back folded all the way down on the seat bottom.
  4. Ok, On the new crew cabs the bottom of the seat will fold up. When this happens the back of the seat moves up but the back will not fold forward. By cutting the 2 tabs, When you fold the bottom up, it releases the tabs and allows the back to fold down allowing access behind the rear seat. I will post some pics to show you.
  5. No problem at all. Was not sure how secure it would be till I took the seat out and saw how everything connected. I am not the least bit concerned now. I used to work crashes for a living and nothing about this upgrade is a safety issue in my opinion. This is what the forum is for to me. Learning new things about the trucks and the back and forth discussion.
  6. Should not be an issue at all. 1. in a rear end collision the force would push the passenger further into the seat. 2. The bracket is fully engaged when the seat is down. So the same amount of metal to metal contact. 3. The seatbelts are mounted to the truck not the seat so no effect on them at all. 4. If rear seat passengers are belted this mod would have zero effect. If not belted the seat is still not going to move but they are going to be slamming the rear of the front seat. These pics were a pain to get but wanted to show that this mod is in my opinion not a safety issue. Of course everyone needs to make their own decision on something like this. But for those that are wondering here are the pics.
  7. Did the rear seat fold down mod. I only did the long side. May do the other side later. I have been wanting to this mod since I got the truck.
  8. Just back from a 1800 mile round trip Louisiana to Indianapolis and back. Truck ran well, first real trip. So today I washed the truck and cleaned to interior. Then I rotated the tires and reset the TPMS. Changed the Oil and filter. Really like this new truck.
  9. Vinyl wrapped the chrome skid plate. Special thanks to Viktorrocks15 for the idea. Before After the wrap. 1st time I ever wrapped anything. It only took me 3 tries. To me the Truck looks so much better like this.
  10. My original idea was shadow chrome paint. After seeing yours I decided I wanted it black. Just ordered some gloss black vinyl wrap to try. Never used vinyl wrap before so we will see how it comes out.
  11. The skid plate on my 17 is chrome. I really like the black one on your truck. Did you paint it or wrap it, or is that factory?
  12. I got them from 4wheelparts.com they were on sale for $998 They are showing $1232 now.
  13. Mainly the price. I got these for less than a thousand. But I have a friend that has a set and he really likes them. The instructions suck but they are not that tough to put on. I like the look. Still need to little adjusting. Since they use wireless sensors they were easy to wire up.
  14. Put a set of Bestop Powerboard NX automatic running boards. Also got in my new skid plates. Gave them a good vinegar and water wash. Then a few coats of self etching primer finally black epoxy paint. It was a long day. I am covered in that frame coating.
  15. Those look great. I have a set of Bestop Powerboard NX coming tomorrow.
  16. I bought a precut bowtie for the steering wheel. lucky it came with 2. Second time I peeled it off the backing then re-stuck it on the backing with only about 1/2 of the sticker on the backing. That let me adjust it till I had it just right. Then peeled the other half off. On the plasti dip I taped each line individually. I found that was a whole lot easier than trying to cut out the bowtie.
  17. Making my Black 2017 Z71 just a little blacker Vinyl Sticker for the steering wheel Masked it off Sprayed with Plasti Dip Think it came out pretty good.
  18. I got mine in about a week ago. I have decided that I am going to just stick with the stock ones. My truck is black on black. Just too much for my taste.
  19. Got a Rhino liner sprayed in today. Looks really good. Incase you are wondering why Rhino? About the only local option and had one in my old truck that was very tough. Anyone know where I could find some all black retractable tie downs to put in the bed?
  20. They are Ultimat™ by Lloyd Mats™ I bought them from High End Motorsports on eBay. They are darker than the carpet but they match better than the pictures show. Just got them today. They lay pretty flat considering they were rolled up in the box. I figure one day in the sun and they will lay completely flat. Driver's mat is cut to match the original rubber mat.
  21. Been a busy couple of days. Got my leather seats installed. Husky rear under seat storage. New floor mats. First oil change. Get my liner sprayed in Monday. Powerboard NX running boards should be here in about a week.
  22. Part of my purchase was for them to install leather in my LT/Z71. The truck had grey/dark ash interior. I requested black leather with grey stitching. My dealer just emailed me some pictures. Will pick it up tomorrow. Not sure about how much I will like the grey plastic trim/accents. figure I will try for a while. If I don't like it will swap the pieces out for black.
  23. Ordered 3. Think they would look good on my black 2017 Z71. Anyone put them on black yet?
