  1. Middle of November and we have not had a reoccurrence of this issue yet.
  2. So the truck spent another week in the shop and they replaced the "video control module" or something to that effect. It has been a few weeks since we got the truck back and this is the longest we have gone by far w/out having an issue with the cameras. I am cautiously optimistic that this did the trick.
  3. Truck spent another week in the shop and they replaced one of the mirrors (again). We had the vehicle back for one day before the issue came back. Dealership no longer has an available loaner vehicle, so who knows. We are quickly coming up on having the car for a year, this has sort of become a running joke.
  4. Nope, no fix here yet. We actually dropped the car off this week and took a loaner while they continue to troubleshoot/guess what’s wrong. I am not optimistic.
  5. Dealer said there was a checksum error with the steering module. Re-flashed and everything magically started working. Hopefully getting reimbursed for the towing from GM will be half as easy. Careful with those updates!
  6. We are still dealing with intermittent backup/360 camera failures so the truck was at the dealer for them to "investigate". We picked it up on Friday so we could use the car for the weekend, wife stops at the sitters house to grab our youngest - apparently the truck said an update was avail and should take 5 min to apply. Now before we start educating on all of the reasons to not hit apply when you aren't even at your house, I agree (and now my wife does). So here is a warning to anyone out there who doesn't quite agree yet. She hit the update button, came back out and the truck wouldn't start, radio and other electrical things seem to work fine. Hit start - nothing. Called the dealer that we had just left, they told us it was quitting time and there was nothing they could do (that is another issue altogether.). Since we needed to get this vehicle out of this persons driveway we started a roadside assistance call and a flat bed soon arrived. I along with roadside assistance tried to get the truck started for an hour or so, no luck. It would "remote start" via FOB or on-star but any attempt to activate the truck it would turn off. So we proceeded down the path of a tow. The situation was made more difficult in the fact that the driveway was steep and required a hard turn - so the wheels were turned hard and the steering column electronically locked. The truck also would not go into neutral all attempts were met with an error to the effect of this shift cannot be made in this condition. The flatbed driver pointed out what looked like a small crash/collision symbol so he thought maybe the truck thought it had been in an accident. On to the tow...As he was setting up to tow the truck I asked how he planned on getting it onto the flatbed. His response was to drag it, which was better then when I asked how he planned on getting it off the flatbed - shake it. Now there was no way I was going to watch a truck with 6k miles on get dragged or shaken off of a flatbed I told them there had to be a better way. Long story short we were able to locate a "repo" style truck that could lift the rear wheels, and then put dollies on the front. This worked great for the 2 mile tow to the dealer - although it cost me $200+tip. I will try and get GM to compensate - I am not holding my breath. So thats where we are at, truck is at dealer for them to look at on Monday. We are down to one vehicle as the dealer doesn't have anything for us to use. Whats the point of this post? Please dont apply software updates to your vehicle unless you have a plan - future updates for us will be done by the dealer / at the dealer. Honestly as much as we love the look / drive of this truck I am really questioning the long term life of this truck for us.
  7. Took the truck in for an oil change / recall repairs, again brought up the camera issue. Dealer kept the vehicle for the day but was "unable to reproduce". Service manager claiming that without reproducing the issue and dumping any codes there is nothing that can be done. This is becoming a very frustrating situation, I would have at least expected some sort of "case" be open with GM so that if a fix or some other troubleshooting measure were to come up that I could be contacted. Instead I am forced to troll message boards / refresh open TSBs waiting for a fix.
  8. No update on my end...I totally agree with you. I mentioned the safety concerns that you did as well, my dealer reached out to GM - their response was since the backup collision detection still works the camera doesnt represent a safety issue. The dealer was prepared to start ripping the truck apart to replace things, I did not want that. I feel it would be better to wait for a real fix and look at it once (nothing ever goes back together the same way.) Waiting for the boot animation before starting the truck seems to have limited our experience with this. Side effect we are both pretty good at navigating the vehicle without the camera.
  9. Problem still fixed? I havent heard anything from my dealer nor found anything online indicating the TSB/eng advisory has a fix. So far the only thing that seems to limit how often we have th problem is waiting for the Chevy boot up logo to disappear after entering vehicle, but before starting.
  10. Thanks for the idea - we will give it a try. I just pinged our service manager, "no update".
  11. I shared this PIE with my dealer and the acknowledged that they had reviewed it. We took the vehicle in to gather the diagnostic info requested by GM engineering in the post. We are currently just "waiting" for a fix...I expressed my concerns that not having access to the backup camera seemed a bit of a safety issue. The service manager indicated they would share that with their GM "rep". So while we wait for a fix we just try not to get into a situation where the backup cameras are required. The only upside is my wife is getting more comfortable navigating the vehicle without them?! Frustrating nonetheless.A
  12. So our left camera was replaced the documented "code" pulled from the camera was B1A69-49. Unfortunately the issue returned the next day. The dealer indicates that the next part on the repair "flow chart" is the video control module. We are waiting for that part to arrive.
  13. So we were finally able to get the Suburban into the dealer to have them diagnose the issue. While the issue hasn't occurred in the past week the dealer claimed that an error was logged indicating a failure of the left camera. They are ordering a replacement...if that doesnt resolve the issue the video programming module is next on the list. Seems a bit like grasping if you ask me. Fortunately they were able to resolve the recent brake control module reflash recall notice while there, so not a total waste of time.
  14. Good advice, although it’s going to be difficult to coordinate that unless I take the truck out and try and reproduce knowing I can get it to a dealer. We are still waiting to hear back from dealer.
  15. We recently picked up a 2021 Suburban z71, a couple of days after taking possession we started to have an issue with the camera system. The camera basically stops working...we are unable to launch the camera "app" and if we shift into reverse we are met the attached image. The issue appeared to resolve itself after the vehicle was off for ~30 min or. Unfortunately that was short lived because a few trips later and the issue resurfaced. We reached out to the dealer and are currently waiting for them to secure an adequate loaner so they can take the vehicle in. In most vehicles I wouldn't be bothered so much by the camera, however this Suburban is large and doesn't have the greatest visibility - almost seems like they designed it with a multi-camera system in mind. What makes me more nervous is I can find other newer GM/Chevy's with similar tales online all with a long arduous road to resolution (or not in some cases.). Anyone here experience this or have any advice to dealing with the dealer on a intermittent issue such as this? Thanks!
