  1. Do you have the bulletin number?
  2. I wonder if someone could do a polyurethane boot.
  3. I can confirm it's not the cats. I'm Long Tube headers to aftermarket cat back. Entire stock exhaust removed and it's still there.
  4. I have long tube headers and an aftermarket cat back. It's still there.
  5. That's more or less what I meant. Overall cost of all the units needing repair.
  6. I think GM doesn't want to get involved as I'm guessing they know the cause. I'd imagine the fix is probably expensive.
  7. Only other thing I can think of is something in the valve train. Mine got louder after long tubes.
  8. Fuel or transmission is the best I can figure
  9. I've got long tube headers and an aftermarket cat back. Ball flange was replaced with a V band. Noise is still there
  10. Slight movement of the engine. I can't think of anything else.
  11. Did they give you a bulletin number?
  12. Did not go away with the installation of long tube headers and header back exhaust
  13. According to the GM field tech, this is normal. He said the valves become louder as the vehicle gains mileage and it's completely normal. I'm not sure if I buy that.
  14. I guess it's a possibility. I was thinking a cam phaser or push rods that are a hair too short and there's some play.
  15. I dropped mine off at the dealer today. I did notice the headers seemed to make the noise louder. I'm wondering if it's something in the VVT or lifters. The 5.3 in the loaner Tahoe I have is dead silent. I've tried to correlate it, and can't find anything. It seems.to come and go at will.
  16. I've also noticed it's louder in higher temps. Thanks to the wild temperature swings here in OK, I've been able to prove this theory over the last few days.
  17. See the 5.3 engine tick thread. It’s not an exhaust leak.
  18. Welp, new cylinder head is on. It still makes the ticking. The dealer tried to blame it on the small exhaust leak I have with the car back I have. I’m fixing that today and then the service manager and I are going to do a drive together.
  19. Have you considered selling a harness that's plug and play on the board side and pre terminated in the fuse side?
  20. When I get it back, I'll report my findings. When it gets out of warranty, I intend to do a cam and a true DOD/AFM delete. I'll report on that too
