If you would not have fixed this, would your truck have been damaged? Or was it just causing noise

so using a stethascope, i found that it is the oil pump.. tried listening to a 16 today and it also made the same noise too.. im leaning towards normal sound.

Yeah mine does it pretty loud. I'm a bit concerned about it and the ticking noises. Sounds like lifters and I've got the stethoscope on it but I cant get anything to tick that loud in my ear. But it really sounds like it's coming from the valve covers. I couldn't pinpoint that whine either. I'm thinking bottom back end. Like I've been hearing, torque converter. Could be wrong though.

I've read about the high pressure pumps making noise like that because of the direct injection in these newer trucks. Mine does it too, but seems to be about about every second. I'm a little concerned it may be a lifter in my case.

Anyone ever figure this out. Mine is like the guy from the original post. Mine is while sitting and can hear it at low speeds. Goes up and down with the RPMs. Always in 2wd though. Mine is a 2015 gmc sierra lt
