Ok that's not as bad I was thinking it was going to be. I really only want to go 2/4 or 3/5 and Id be happy 4/6 is to much for what I want but who knows I may change my mind after doing a 3/5 lol
So I sent a request to maxtrac to see if their spindles keep the wheel centered in the wheel well. We will see what their response is. I really hate piecing stuff together but if I have to piece a kit together I think I will go the mcgaughys route since they seem to be the most popular for bot lowered or lifted applications. I will post the response when I get it.
Anybody ever use the maxtrac kit? I'm in the same boat you are in krunch trying to find a kit to lower my 4x4 and this seems to be a good compromise between the 2/4 and the 4/6 kits or parts that are available. Just wanted to see what peoples take was on the brand and quality? I'm not really wanting to go to low but I also don't want to deal with the wheel not being centered. To the guys running the Mcg spindles are you running the 4x4 specific ones or running the 2wd ones and making them work with the 4x4? Ive noticed they don't have one listed for a 4x4 with cast control arms.
Correct me if I'm wrong but the only 4wd spindles I've seen on their site are for stamped steel or aluminum arms. I've got cast arms. If they do make a set of spindles that will work with cast arms I'm all for it. That's why I tried to reach out to them but figure they are at SEMA. Will try again next week when they should be back I guess.
Is there any real difference in a 2wd or 4wd spindle if they both use the same control arm style?? I've been looking for a 2/4 or 3/5 kit for my 2014 CC 4wd. I've read through just about this entire thread. It seams like guys have used control arms to lower their trucks but every body seem to say stay away from the IHR arms. I like the idea of using spindles however most of those I find seem to be for 2wd trucks that why I ask if there is really a difference. I've been emailing with Belltech and haven't gotten an answer from them as of yet. Tried to get ahold of Mcgaughy's but figure they are at SEMA this week so no luck there. I do really like the Mcgaughy's kit if it would work for 4wd. I don't really see why it wouldn't other than what thy have on their website.
I use an Erosion Tape that we use on our aircraft to protect the nav light lenses. It works good and molds around the corners nicely and is easily removed if I need to replace it plus it comes in various widths. It is also quite thick which helps against gravel etc. It is made by 3M and you can get it from most aviation shops like Aircraft Spruce and Aviall. http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/cspages/protectiveLeading.php
