Well I did manage to get an OEM GM tailgate release popper to work. Was quite the nightmare but it seems to be working.

Hello. I am attempting to switch out my manual tailgate lock for a powered tailgate lock. I have switched out all the hardware in the tailgate and now I just need a power wire for it. So what I need is a signal wire saying the truck is locked via the fob. I can use this signal wire for a relay and run the wires to the back of the truck. I tried looking at the door lock switch as this functions properly. (Works all the time except when you hit lock of the fob, then its disabled). But i saw 4 wires at the switch. 2 seemed to be 12v and 1 seemed to be ground. How do the door lock switch wires work and can i use them to get a signal wire? Or anywhere else i should get this signal wire? Thanks

Thanks. Im going to call the dealer and see how much they are going to rip me off. Wasnt an issue before but i have switch from parking my trucks at home to outdoor storage so i am doing everything i can to prevent theft. I usually hate aftermarket stuff. Although back in the day i had an aftermarket 2 way remote start with all the bells and whistles and it was the ******. I just have tons of fobs and dont want any more.

Do you know if there is aftermarket alarms/starters that work with the factory fob?

Yes my LT is missing alot of those features. Main thing i want is for an alarm to go off if someone opens the door. Thanks everyone for the help.

There is a 2020 LT and another 2020 WT. Funny thing is the WT seems like it has more features than the LT . No blinking light on either. But my 2018 and 2019 have blinking lights.

Thanks. Definitely no alarm goes off. Will a gm dealership install it? Or should I go aftermarket?

Hello. I got a 2020 silverado 1500 and im not sure if it has a security system or not. There is no blinking light on the dash. My 2019 has a blinking light on the dash and when you open the door with a key the alarm goes off. Does my 2020 not have a security system?
