Well sure enough came out this morning to go to work and the same thing was happening, rough idle, and CEL clicked on....just got back from changing plugs and wires and it made a world of difference and kicked the CEL off so I’m crossing my fingers that was the problem....cylinder 6 plug was absolutely wrecked as well. Alright I’m back! So ended up replacing the MAF, and my CEL was still on and rough idle. I then decided to switch cylinder 6 coil with cylinder 4, and BAM some magic happened and the CEL went away and started to idle smooth as butter I also had my power back. So possibly it still was the MAF and it just took a minute to realize what was going on orrrr my coils are starting to burn out on me....gonna drive it around this weekend and see how she does, if anything happens I will be back on here. Thanks for the help!!
So you think it would be a bad MAF? Or possibly the IAT? I mean there are so many things it could be, but it was odd to me that after cleaning the MAF the next day my CEL was off but my stablitrack came on, but then it went away and the only way I could get it to come on was if I unplugged the Connector to the MAF which I believe where the IAT is if I’m not mistaken
Alright! The DTC’s it was throwing was P0306(6 cylinder misfiring) P0113(intake air temps tire) P0102(MAF circuit low frequency)....so I went ahead and got a new MAF and air filter, I’m thinking it’s the MAF cause my stablitrak light was off and my check engine light was on again so I unplugged the MAF while it was running which turned on my stablitrak and the motor didn’t fluctuate or run any different. Gonna just try the air filter first to see maybe if that takes care of it so I can return the new MAF, but if it don’t I’ll try the new MAF....I’ll continue to keep everyone updated I’m case any of y’all run into this problem
I’m not an expert by no means of wiring (zapped myself plenty of times) but if you spliced them in with your parking lights doesn’t the OEM switch for all your lights just have a parking light selection that you would be able to run them off of so you would be able to run them whenever? Or you could just wire them into something so they have power and then have your own toggle switch Again I really have no clue what I’m talking about
Thanks for the reply! I’m gonna go to my shop at lunch and plug in the scanner and see what pops up, it’s probably time to do a little tune up on it anyways. Plugs would definitely explain the rough idle, although it only doesn’t it every now and than...but anyways thanks again!!!
Good morning fellow GM owners! I’ve done quite a bit of research on this problem, but everything I have found isn’t exactly what’s going on with my old girl. So here it is, I have an 2007 1500 5.3 with 82,000 on it. It recently started to idle rough but I wasn’t too worried about it. The next day I hop in and my check engine light came on. I cleaned the MAF and took off my gas cap and tightened it down, but my CEL was still on. The next morning I came out and fired her up and the CEL was of and she ran like a top. Drove her around for a few than my service traction control light came on with no CEL on. I’m kinda stumped on this and was hoping for more experienced people to hopefully help me narrow it down! Also just tossed some 285s on the ole gal
Thanks for the reply man! Doesn’t really sound like what’s going on with mine, but now I’m kinda worried about changing my fluid. The fluid looked good a few weeks ago but now has a brownish tinge to it. And with only 70,000 miles on it I don’t think it would really hurt anything, or would it?
Hey everyone! I’ve been looking all over to see if anyone has had the same problem but cant seem to find anything. When I put it in reverse I get a weird shutter as well as in park. It doesn’t do it all the time though. The pickup runs great and shifts perfect, the oil looks a little dirty so I’m gonna flush it this weekend and replace the filter. Should it be anything to worry about and has anyone experienced this? The pickup only has 70,000 on it as well and the u joints are in good condition
