key fob transmitter faulty?
FirstAscent replied to FirstAscent's topic in Troubleshooting, Warranty & Recalls
it definitely follows the exact symptoms I had, since you posted this yesterday it hopefully is resolved or should be very shortly by now. It's annoying I know but it does just go away, I assume when it dries up from the spray. -

key fob transmitter faulty?
FirstAscent replied to FirstAscent's topic in Troubleshooting, Warranty & Recalls
yeah it's quite odd, and a little annoying. But just know it'll be all good by tomorrow or the next day at the latest. For what it's worth, I haven't had any fob issues since, only for that first 24 hours or so after having it tinted. -
2500/3500 GMC HD Diesel - Real World Towing?
FirstAscent replied to Supercup's topic in 2020-2026 Silverado HD & Sierra HD
well not exactly what you're asking for but pretty similar! I have a 2020 Silverado 3500 Duramax SRW Standard Bed and I'm hauling a 42' 5th Wheel, when all loaded up the trailer is about 19-20k lbs. It's a toy hauler so that keeps my pin weight down to safe levels for the SRW. When loaded with toys in the garage which is almost always, a SXS, my pin weight is about 2600-2700 lbs. I just finished a long trip, left Oregon in December and went to Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, and California. It handled everything like a champ! The Duramax definitely had no power issues. Oh, I'm also not using the standard 5th wheel kingpin and hitch in the bed. I installed a Gen-Y Gooseneck conversion hitch and I absolutely love it. also frees up the bed of the truck and I never have to worry about removing the hitch to get my bed back. -

Leveling kits? If so, let's see them.
FirstAscent replied to inquenciocha's topic in Modifications & Accessories
Do it! Haha, that’s my words of encouragement. I think the height and look is absolutely perfect. Yes it will fit, I’ve been running it just fine. I also just got done hauling the 5th wheel across 4 states over the last 3 1/2 months just fine. Not sure if you saw but all I had to trim was very minor and you can’t even tell. Happy to help answer anything else but I can assure you it will fit. Well, I’ll say 99% sure based on the fact that your Denali has a slightly different wheel well profile than the Chevy. But that wouldn’t make it not work, just different trimming at worst. -
My custom Onboard Air install
FirstAscent replied to FirstAscent's topic in Modifications & Accessories
Heck yeah man nice work! Yeah the noise isn’t bad at all. I take my dog everywhere with me and she doesn’t even mind it when she’s sitting on the back seat and the compressor kicks on. -
My custom Onboard Air install
FirstAscent replied to FirstAscent's topic in Modifications & Accessories
Hey thanks man, I appreciate it. It’s honestly been perfect, not a single issue and I’m happy with the locations of everything as well. I was kinda thinking the same as you at first with the heat build up but I’m not concerned at all now. First co soldering it’s only running when air is needing to be supplied which probably isn’t for hours on end. The longest use of constant supply I use it for is filling up an inflatable paddleboard which is just over 5 min straight and it doesn’t get anywhere near too warm where I’d be concerned. Other than that, filling up tires or adjusting the air bags is barely long enough to build up any heat. I also really like having the quick disconnect in that footwell near the bed, if I were to do it all over again I’d put it in the exact same spot. It’s so convenient. There was no grommet where I drilled to exit the cab, I drilled a new hole large enough for the air line and put one of those cable glands there to keep water out. Let me know if you have any other questions! -

I did half of that, I dropped the front an inch but instead of my original plan to swap the 2” block with a 1” block I simply removed the block entirely, so right now the rear is factory height. I do however plan to still install the 1” block but since I have air bags I believe I’ll need to add some type of limit strap so I Don’t over extend them. (I had a 2” air bag spacer with the 2” block). Btw, I didn’t necessarily have any clearance issues with the 2” block, it just caused the 5th wheel a little nose high and I was experiencing some bucking issues so wanted to level it out more to see if it helped (which it didn’t haha). I was comfortable with the bed clearance with the 2” block though. -
Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TTPMS)
FirstAscent replied to KC10Chief's topic in Modifications & Accessories
This is great info, it’s been driving me nuts not being able to view my trailer tires. I already have my TPMS installed, did it a different way, had to strap them to a band around the wheel inside. I will first simply try without the license plate to see if that gives me any better results but I imagine I may need to extend the antenna as you did. -
Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TTPMS)
FirstAscent replied to KC10Chief's topic in Modifications & Accessories
has anyone installed these on longer trailers? I have a 42' 5th wheel, triple axle, I can read the front left tire fine, the left middle takes a little longer but reads, the left rear I can't get to read and it times out. -
Dual alternator conversion?
FirstAscent replied to FirstAscent's topic in 2020-2026 Silverado HD & Sierra HD
Thanks for all the comments so far everyone! I had to head out of turn for work and was crazy busy but back to normal life again. I’ll check out these options to see if I can make something work. I know 24v alternators exist, and dual alternators on these trucks exist, so just need to find the right application for my project -

Congrats!! I would recommend you tow something and enjoy that power [emoji23] Looks good, picked up my first diesel less than 6 months ago and have absolutely loved it -
Basically bronze-ish, they call it DDT (Double Dark Tint) http://www.fueloffroad.com/wheel/12402/fuel-1-piece-wheels-blitz-d674/

Yeah I think you have a small chance of it clearing but it will be VERY close. For reference back to my setup, my tires are an inch wider and my offset pushes the tire out an inch further, so that means I'm about 1.5" pushed to the outside than your setup would be. This would make clearance more in your favor. However, with that being said, I know a lot of people don't like or want to trim, but the trimming I had to do looks pretty darn good. for the front of the wheel well, you'd never know it was trimmed, and the only way you'd notice the mud flap is if you were looking directly at the inside of it from 2' away. And worst case scenario, if you wanted to revert it back, buying a new mud lap would be an easy and inexpensive item. I also didn't trim any part of the mud flap that would be visible from the exterior so that it still looked factory.

TLDR; don’t go by what others set theirs at unless you know you have the same tire size and load rating. Full Version: I’ve always gone by whatever my expected vehicle axle weights are that match up on the tire load and inflation tables. https://www.toyotires.com/media/3729/application_of_load_inflation_tables_20200723.pdf This table is independent of tire brand, it’s based on tire size and load rating (E rating, F rating etc) It will tell you how much weight your tire size can support at a given psi. Example, if the actual weight (not how much your axle can support) on your front axle was 5000 lbs, then look up your tire size and find what psi supports at least 2500 lbs (2500 lbs each tire for 5000 lbs weight on axle) If your weights fluctuate (different number of people in vehicle etc, then play it safe me just go up in psi), and if you tow, you should be doing this anyway and know what your weights are, especially on your rear axle! I have two pressure settings I switch between: normal driving and towing. I have one trailer and I know what my worst case scenario fully loaded is so that’s the pressure I set to.

Hey everyone, So I know that you can get dual alternators from the factory, mine only has the single, does anyone know what is required to add a second alternator? Is there an existing mounting point for it or does it require a bracket? I’d imagine a longer belt and the actual alternator as well of course. I’m looking into a not so normal scenario but want a 24v alternator that would charge some 24v lithium batteries completely independent of the truck, so I wouldn’t be tying this into the trucks electrical system whatsoever. First step is to see what it would take to mount the alternator. Oh and if anyone that sees this has the factory dual alternators, post up any photos of where they’re located, thanks!! I have the duramax too btw.

Leveling kits? If so, let's see them.
FirstAscent replied to inquenciocha's topic in Modifications & Accessories
I was running a lot lower, maybe 55f/50r, which is still way more than plenty according to the load range table. But right now I’m about 65f/75r since I’ve been pulling my fifth wheel frequently, which is still well on the safe end and I could go lower. Note: I’m basing my pressures off the load range table for my tire size. It’s changed by tires size and load rating (E, F, etc). Al I’m saying is the load range for my tire size will be slightly different than yours -

I love the high country grill, completes the truck! Thanks! Here are two photos of the front and rear of the wheel well which shows the amount of trimming I had to do. So you would need to do a little more. You can see where I trimmed part of the mud flap, I bet you’d need to trim some of the liner as well. Also depends on the width of the 37. -

Just wanted to chime in really quick to add some data points for ya to help with your decision I have 22x10, -19 offset with a wide 35 (325/50R22 ridge grappler), it’s basically a 35x13. I have the 3/2 leveling kit (3” keys with 2” block), the stance is great but I had to trim the tire side of the mid flap as well as some of the liner. The trimming is fairly minimal and looks good and clean Zero rub as long as I don’t hit a bump at full lock. So with a 37, depending on tire width, you’d have some more trimming to do. I’m actually about to drop the front about an inch and putting on a 1” rear block instead. For me the 3/2 kit is a perfect stance, but I’m a little nose high on my fifth wheel which is the sole reason I’m dropping it an inch, sadly -
My custom Onboard Air install
FirstAscent replied to FirstAscent's topic in Modifications & Accessories
For sure! And yeah the Linx is nice but most definitely not required! Well take my loadlifter opinion with a grain of salt in that I don’t have a lot to compare it to. The idea behind it is sound, and I’ve never had airbags before but the before and after feel with anywhere from 0-5psi felt good, similar to no airbags. I like the piece of mind of having the bounce bumper though. I haul a 16k lbs 42’ fifth wheel toy hauler so that’s my reason for wanting air bags. Depending on the load and weight of the trailer I like being able to dial in rear ride height for extra support. Too soon for durability but so far I’ve had zero issues and it does what it’s supposed to do. Build quality is excellent and all parts felt solid.
