If you tap into the power for the bed lights, you won't be able to use them if you're in motion. If you're going to do this, your best bet would be to wire them up completely independent of the existing truck wiring harness or possibly tap into the fog lamp wiring if you want to tap into the truck at all.

Is it giving you this message when hooked up to a trailer or anytime the truck is on? I had similar issues with our gooseneck cattle trailer and threw all three of those parts at the problem as well. I did a couple more things to help resolve my issues. When I got the service trailer brakes message, my trailer was blowing fuses under the hood. I had to dig into the trailer brake wiring and repair a couple wires and replace those fuses in the truck to make it go away. Keep us posted...

Did you check the fuses under the hood as well? When I blow my trailer brakes fuse, that is the message I get.

Alright, I finally tackled this project on a rainy Labor Day afternoon. I had my new OEM pan back from the local welding shop with the bung welded into it and a plug (non-magnetic) in it with a bit of Teflon tape. To be sure it would be leak proof, I put liquid in the pan overnight before installing on the truck to be sure everything sealed up with no seepage. The bung does stick down from the pan about a 1/2" or so, but he did a nice job of welding it flush with the bottom of the pan for maximum drainage. There are a few photos of the new oem pan with the drain plug installed. The pan was around $20 from RockAuto, the bill for the welding shop was $26 and they didn't have a plug on hand, so it was less than $3 at the Ace Hardware store. For under $50, I was good to go with a new pan with plug. I had watched several YouTube videos of pan drops and refills, so it wasn't too bad to do. The fluid was definitely in need of refreshing, it looked pretty brown and the magnet had quite a bit of sludge on it as well. I got about 5 quarts out of it today with the pan drop, but will be doing another quick drain and fill again soon to get more of it out of the system. (On a side note, I will be shipping the Camaro pan back to RockAuto because it was not the pan I used due to the location of that plug.) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Well, I haven't had time to do the job yet but I did drop the oem pan off at the local welding shop to get a drain plug added to it. I'm expecting to get it back early next week as they had lots of projects ahead of mine but the owner is a good friend of mine so I figure he'll slip a quick project like that in somewhere and get it done. That was my first thought when I unboxed it as well. Technically, it is a drain plug. But not one that will allow you to drain the pan completely due to its location. I'm considering just getting a weld on drain plug and having my buddy at the local welding shop put it in at the lower end of the pan so it'll remove as much of the oil as possible. Alright guys, my order from RockAuto showed up this morning. I ordered a new transmission filter, plus the oem transmission pan and acdelco pan #24297104 which fits the Camaro SD and has the factory drain plug. Upon unboxing them both, they are identical except for the drain plug and the numbers stamped into them. The only thing that makes me wonder about fitting our trucks, is the stand pipe on the inside of the drain plug. It sticks up quite a bit from the bottom of the pan. I'll attach a few pics of the Camaro SS pan so you can see what I'm concerned with. I don't know if this would create any clearance issues or not when installing on our trucks. I finally have all the parts I need to do this, but my tonneau cover clamp uses the hole where you guys installed your switch. I’m thinking of drilling a hole down a couple inches but still within the stake pocket. I also have three of the 5’ led strips to add for the bed lighting. I am planning on one across the front of the bed. I also have a topper (camper shell) for use during the hunting season when I’ll be hauling dogs and gear. I plan on mounting the other two led strips to the roof of the topper and tapping them into the same wiring so when I want light in there, they all come on with the switch.
