This crazy situation puts those of us that are trying to buy a new 22 HD truck in a very bizarre position. We need to consider things like what does incomplete option packages do to resale value or lease turn in value? Or, are we ok settling to get a truck now, or should we wait until trucks are complete again. I have my dealer waiting to place an order for a mostly loaded GMC 3500HD SLE. I have selected the Drivers Alert Package 1 but not Drivers Alert Package 2. Drivers Alert 1 is shown below. Just like mobilelists said above I have a dealer print out from a few months ago that shows Drivers Alert 1 and everything that goes with it. When they finally get an allocation that I can grab I wonder what the updated print out will show. See below for what's included at least on the GMC website. I am halfway thinking that I should consider an optioned base model instead and at least get a complete truck even if it's not the loaded SLE I was hoping for.

We need to get the Admins to start a special thread for people that have 22s on order so we can have everyone's tracking information in one easy to find location. Are you guys in?! How do we do that?

When they write the requirements for towing break in they have to consider someone towing at max capacity of the truck. Your pontoon is a few thousand pounds at most I would guess and from the truck's perspective it won't even know it's towing anything. If it was a 16k pound fifth wheel it might be different. I'd drive it and be proud!

Thanks! I'll check it daily along with the GMC.com inventory. Looks like the supplier site might have a few more trucks. Since they stopped making the 21s already I'm not super confident I'll find many more new ones show up. They have to be showing some 22s in inventory soon I would think.

Isufan, congrats on the new ride! How did you end up finding the truck? Looking under inventory on Chevy.com or Autotrader or something like that? I would pull the trigger in a hot minute on a 21 if I could find what I am looking for but I am so damn picky about options and packages. I wish I had a dollar for every minute I've spent on GMC.com looking at inventories and on Autotrader. I also need to get flexible on how it's optioned. I keep looking for a truck randomly built exactly like the one I spec'd out and that aint gonna happen....I don't think. Anyway, post some pics when you get your new ride.

My situation is I have a 2015 Chevy 2500HD with with the 6.0L and 36k miles in excellent condition. It's been a great truck and does what I need it to. With the current demand for used trucks my plan is to sell it and use the money for a down payment on a new 2022 GMC 3500HD. I figure that will allow me to get the new one for the same or lower payment that I have now on the 2015. Only thing is I need to coordinate selling the '15 just before the '22 comes in so I am not without a vehicle for too long. I could get by for a week or so but I don't want it to be several weeks. I want to sell it outright which will get me at least a few thousand dollars more over trading it in. Timing is everything on the sale of the '15 and also estimating when the '22 will land. At this point my dealer hasn't received an allocation for it so I am still at the starting gate. The '15 has everything I need but there are a few options it doesn't have that I would like. Also the additional HP/torque of the 6.6L gasser over the 6.0L gasser would be nice when pulling our travel trailer and it would be nice to have a new truck with a warranty and updated tech and drivetrain. We'll see. There are several things that could blow up my plan but because I have a nice truck now I won't be devastated. I wasn't looking to upgrade until the market went sideways and used trucks started selling for top dollar.

This Amsoil site has always provided accurate information for both type and capacities. Not sure if you have the gas or diesel but the below screen shot is for the gasser. Both axles use 75W-90 and you can see the arrows that show how much. The link to the site is farther down. I placed an order for a '22 GMC 3500HD (not picked up yet as the dealer is waiting for allocations) and my sales guy didn't bat an eye. I would have your guy confirm if they will accept it or not and if the answer is no then I would look elsewhere.

Cheddar, I am in a similar situation where I am waiting for my order for a '22 GMC Sierra 3500HD SLE with most options to get picked up. I hope to hear from my dealer today if this week's allocations allow them to do anything. What are you ordering? Is your dealer letting you know which constraints are blocking you so you can decide if you want to amend your order or not?

Elcamino, thanks for the details. Let's hope no new challenges come up. It's interesting that the HD first allocation is 8/12 when production starts 7/12. I wonder why dealers can't order right away.

Does your dealer have allocations currently for the 22s where they could order one but they can't because of constraints on your selected options? I have an order in for a 22 but my dealer doesn't have allocations yet. One of my GMC options was drivers alert 1 package but he hasn't called me to let me know it's a constraint yet. I think production of the 22s starts 7/12 and I just hope they get my order in by then at least. I'm trying to be patient but it's hard when you are talking about a new HD truck! I feel for you and your situation. I can see how that could happen. Good luck to you.

Thanks! I like it! Is yours painted to match the truck? In the pic above it looks like there is a line where the top is blue and the bottom is black. Maybe it's just a shadow. Either way it fits great. Thanks for the pics!

Elcamino, I understood that production of the '22 HDs started 7/12. If that's true will they start building orders from the dealerships on 7/12 or 8/12 as you mentioned? I am interested because I have given my dealer an order for a '22 GMC 3500HD and they are waiting on allocations to be able to put my order in. I appreciate any insight that you or anyone else has. This is my first time ordering a vehicle.

Rick, I cannot imagine having that happen to a brand new truck! Dang, I bet your neighbors ran outside to see who was doing all the yelling and swearing after it got hit. It sounds like you were able to put it into perspective (after all it is just a truck) and move on. Either way thanks for the info on the deflector. Your truck looks great!

Rickmazz, I like the looks of that! Are you happy with it so far? Does it have the little round bumpers that keep it from contacting your paint? I have a '15 HD with a bug guard that has a turned up lip in the top center of it that does a great job directing the wind up and not directly at the windshield. Really helps to keep the windshield clean by keeping most bugs off it. I don't think they are able to design the turned up lip into them with the hood scoop.

MS3, thanks for the update. I have a '22 HD on order and I'll be happy to take it without HD. I have a '15 HD currently and I think I have HD but to be honest I'm not entirely sure! HD is the feature that tells you the artist and name of the song if you are listening to FM radio correct? As far as the change over to the '22s, it sounds like it's is still going to happen on July 12 at the Flint plant. If you hear anything new at all about the 22s I would definitely be interested either via a new thread or a PM. Excited to get the new truck and hope it's in August or September!

The interesting part is he said it was coming out of the cat and not out of a muffler with a drain hole or out of the tailpipe.

@ Brent, just to clarify was the reason you didn't get the second battery because they didn't offer it on a LT? Was your sales guy able to order it in GM's system? Was it shown as an option in build and price on the website? I am about to order a '22 GMC and want/need the extra battery and want to learn from your experience as much as I can. Thanks!
