  1. The picture that shows 2500 and 3500 both they look better
  2. 2001 gmc HD 6.6 Have had no issues prior to this, I have 173 000 on this truck. 92 degree day. Drove to dump today, turned off, emptied trash, finished and started it back up then drove to the gas station. Turned it off for about 15 minutes, came back out of store, turned it on, started back up then immediately died. Tried to turn it on again and it did not turn over. My dash came on, my gauges worked and it shifted into neutral no issue. Just wouldnt turn over, wouldnt even click. My only light that did not come on on the dash was my WAIT TO START icon for the glow bulbs. Had to have it towed home. Let it sit about 40 min, my husband went out to try it but used the spare key and started up no issue. Twice. No delay in turn over. I went and tried with both 3x each and it started up also, but took longer to actually start. Last oil and fuel filter change less than 1000 miles ago. Batteries 6.months old. I havent started looking at relays or fuses. What would be the difference between symptoms and trouble shooting a bad ignition switch versus a bad starter? Any help appreciated.
  3. This is for general information, and documentation, if others have the same or similar problem(s) with their Air Conditioning. So, my AC conked out late-day on a 90+ degree May 26, on a 2017 GMC Sierra 2500HD Crew Cab, 6.0L, bought 8/31/2017 (2.5 years old) and almost 55,000 miles (highway mostly). Thought it might be OK the next day, but, no, the compressor was 'screaming'. It took a week to get it into the GMC dealership on Friday, June 5th. Tech diagnosed a leak at the condenser, leak at a hose fitting, and malfunctioning compressor. The compressor, when the AC is off, freewheels. But this one freewheels, then seems to want to engage, the freewheels again, then seems...and so on. Tech said compressor caused high pressure in hose (low pressure hose I think he said?) which cause fitting to leak. In addition, the compressor problem accelerated the condenser leak (known to leak after a while) at a weld joint (left-front). Man, I was pissed. Not at anyone in particular, but the fact that an AC can fail at only 55,000 miles. My 2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD, 6.0L, longbed, extended, lasted over 160,000 miles and over 10 years without an AC problem except a recharge. Cost? $1799.24 to fix! (900 parts, and 900 labor for 7.2 hours of work.) I said I'll be contacting GMC corporate, and paid the $66 diagnosis fee (worth it; 0.5 hours of labor). On Monday, I called to pickup a price list with part numbers for the repair so I can use for my case. Well, I looked up the part numbers on Google and found a Chevrolet dealership out of Winston-Salem, gmpartsdirect.com (FLOW of Winston-Salem), selling genuine GM parts for greatly reduced prices. Now, mind you, the dealership may have discounted their prices by 15% if I asked because I bought it there, and GM corporate 'may' have covered half the cost (or maybe full cost?), but it was technically out-of-warranty with the 55,000 miles. BUT, at these gmpartsdirect.com prices, I can get it done myself and save, with labor by myself, about $1200! Obviously, I ordered the parts and will do the job myself... Saves the hassle, aggravation, and arguing with GMC... ba**ards. Wish they would make a decent product again. AC failing this early used to be unheard of. "The New Normal" I guess. Here is the price list, and the dealer's price...
  4. Hey, I'm getting ready to replace my fan clutch in my 06 2500hd, 6.0 vortec. How do I know if its a reverse (counterclockwise) or clockwise clutch that I need?
  5. I just got a 2002 GMC Sierra 2500HD Duramax 6.6 L. 4WD. I have been driving a gasoline 8.1L Silverado of same year and size, but 2wd. I know nothing about diesel trucks and want to be sure to take care of it as best i can. Would appreciate any recommendations regarding starting procedures, driving a diesel vs. gasoline, what to be prepared for come winter, ANY suggestions that you may have to help me take the best care of and get the most out of this replacement truck would be greatly appreciated!
  6. I have a 2015 GMC 6.6 2500HD Denali 4x4 leveled out. I currently have 305/45/22 tires, they do not rub! I'm hoping that the new set of tires I just purchased will Not rub... 33x12.50x22 If anyone has any insight please respond
  7. I have a 2002 gmc sierra 2500hd 8.1 with 7pin trailer plugs in the bed and at the bumper. There is no 12volt power to either plug for top off of trailer batteries or 12 volt trailer accessories...ie winch. I know that gmc has 2 12volt posts at the fuse box and 40 amp fuses to those corresponding posts ( left post controlling the 12v trailer charging and the right post controlling trailer brakes). I have power at both posts, both fuses are good and the trailer brakes work but still no 12v power at either plug. Any one have any suggestions?
  8. I know I'll catch some wrath here, but I'm looking to swap the center console on my 2020 2500HD AT4 Sierra for a jump seat. We just had our forth child and we can no longer take the truck anywhere as a family. I've got a couple questions that I think members will likely be able to answer. Will this swap leave anything unfinished on the underside of the dash below the controls? Will there be carpet under the current storage area of the console? I've been able to locate a number of 1500 jump seats, but can't find any 2500HD. Will a 1500 work in a 2500? My seats are black leather now. Thank you
  9. Hello everyone, On my 2020 GMC Sierra 2500HD Denali I did a hood air induction vent swap for a chrome vent cover and while I was at it I added Led RGB lights inside the vent taking care not to restrict the air flow. Has anyone else done any chrome or Led RGB mods? If so lets see them please.
  10. Hey everybody, Has anybody come across a good reliable website for OEM genuine GM parts? I have seen many different websites online claiming to sell GM parts direct from General Motors. However, I have looked further into these websites & have found many bad reviews relating to them. Along with people who have had their money stolen by these websites. I figured somebody out there must know a rock solid website to order OEM GM parts from. Any suggestions would be a big help for many people! --- My specific reason for this question is because of a off-roading accident with my 16 Silverado 2500HD WT. My air deflector & front bumper were damaged & require replacement. I figured if i'm going to replace the front bumper, I might as well replace it with the OEM front bumper equipped with fog light ports. However, many components are required & it will all cost a bit. The last thing I want to do is get scammed by a hack website or read about more people who have gotten scammed. Thanks!
  11. Please Help. We're working on a 2001 Chevy Silverado 2500HD.It was stuck in limp mode. We first got the P0783-85 codes, so we replaced both shift solenoids, as well as the wiring harness. Still shot the same codes and was stuck in limp mode. So we replaced the transmission. Still didn't work. Now it's pulling up P1860 and both shift solenoid again. Also I realized it was shooting these codes before I even put it in gear. And that's what makes me think it's the ignition switch. Any help at all will be greatly appreciated and save my sanity.
  12. I recently purchased a new 2020 2500HD LT Z71 from the dealer with aftermarket 5” suspension lift and 37” tires. I decided to replace the halogen bulbs with aftermarket LED bulbs that work great, but I blind everyone I pass. I tried calling the dealer to inquire about headlamp adjustment, but they told me to contact the place who lifted the truck. That place said they had never received a call like that and headlight adjustment wasn’t a part of the lift kit. I was inclined to adjust on my own, but it seems the standard headlight adjustment screw doesn’t exist on the 2020 2500HD. Has anyone with left/level been successful at adjusting the headlamps? I got pulled over yesterday and the police officer said he would cite me if I didn’t get them adjusted...

I'm going to get new fuel pump, oil return, new intercooler and pipes, etc and I'm looking to like maybe 500hp out of the 6.0. Any advice for extra parts for reliability? 16. Hey guys, As some of you know I have asked a few questions before. So you will know I have had my truck for MANY years. So here it goes. When I lived in Tx, I bought a lifetime alignment (7 years ago). (Truck is lifted, so I know I would be doing this frequently.) Since I have moved back to Az (3 yrs ago), I have taken my truck in 3 times now, and they “say” they can not align my front end properly for whatever excuse they always give (alignment rack to small, techs capability is not advanced enough, you name it). Regardless the place I would take it in Waco could. In 2 years I have gone through a set of tires that I normally get 50-60k out of. So the store has suggested “new camber bolts” in the UCA frame mounts. Seems like they are just fishing to make some money, since they are losing it from a lifetime alignment. Has anyone ever changed they camber bolts on the UCA so they don’t “drift” during normal driving. I have found a couple replacements on line, but they dont look as if they have any more adjustment than that of the stock camber bolts. If so, what have you gone with? Side note: UCAs, Tie Rods, ball joints, and hub/bearing assemblies and tires have all been changed to aftermarket. Also installed a “beefier” idle/pitman arm brackets to prevent wear on steering. Also adjusting the torsion bars higher, could also prevent the vehicle from proper alignment. However, RCD Lifts claim that is not a requirement for their lift kit. Lift kit installed on truck prior to my purchasing 13 years ago.
  17. Okay, so we all know that what's in the published specs is rarely the real payload of the truck. For those of you lucky enough to have your 2020 HDs delivered already, could you please share what your configuration and trim level are, and what does the door sticker say your payload and tow rating are?
  18. Who has deleted their EGR and was it worth it performance wise as well as financial? Do you need to buy a tuner if you do? Do you recommend a tuner instead of an egr delete? Thanks for any advise
  19. on a 2000 chevy 2500 with electronic 4x4 shift. the notifacation center on the dash has shown "service 4x4" and the 4x4 will rarely shift and if it does it normally wont disengage. when it is not working the lights on the control switches will not even respond, the gear it is in just stays lit up. If they do switch then it goes ahead and shifts properly. The fuse is fine. Is that just a bad switch? Why is the service 4x4 on also? thanks
  20. Hey all, I have a 2008 GMC Sierra 2500HD 6.0L Gasoline. Remote start is not working. This sucks a lot for those of us living in Central Alberta Initially the truck didn't start due to a check engine light coming from my downstream O2 sensors. My catalytic converters were cactus, so I removed them, had the O2 sensors adjusted and the engine light disappeared. That was two weeks ago. The remote start worked for one or two days and then I started having issues with it. At first the remote start only worked intermittently, maybe once out of every 10 or so attempts and it was random. Then it stopped working altogether. I press the lock button on the fob and then hit the start button. The park lights on the truck flash as if it's going to engage, and then nothing happens. No sounds either coming from it to suggest it's going to start up. I looked at a few forum posts and dealer recommendations and attempted fixes. This is what I've troubleshooted so far: I start the vehicle manually, then attempt to use remote start. Nothing. I'm aware it only has two start attempts. My lock and unlock buttons both work fine. There are no check engine lights or lights of any kind appearing on the dash. Hood lever sensor seems to be functioning. No hood open warning on dash. (Still may be a problem but I'd like to avoid replacing the latch and sensor unless it's my last option) Oil pressure and coolant temperature are normal. There is no extra key or key fob in the truck. Hazard lights are not on. Vehicle is definitely in park. I replaced the battery in the remote. No dice. I do have a now remote on order just in case although it does seem to be communicating fine with the vehicle. I finally found a blog that suggested that it might be the brake light switch. Apparently this can cause both the cruise control and the remote start to fail if it starts to loose it's marbles. I decided to test out my cruise control and unbeknownst to be me the cruise control will not engage either. So this morning I replaced the brake light switch (which was no easy task). I jumped in my truck to test drive it and it seemed to brake fine and the lights still worked when the pedal was depressed. Cruise control still would not engage (but I don't care as I live in central alberta and don't use it at the moment), but when I returned home, I shut down the vehicle, locked it, and attempted the remote start. It worked!! TWICE!! I was super excited, turned on the ignition to reset it, turned it off, jumped out of the truck and went to attempt it again. Nada. Nothing. No dice. Zippo. I've retried 5 times after turning on the ignition to reset it, and still nothing. Can someone please suggest where to look next? Any ideas? Anyone had the same drama and found a fix? I don't want to take it into a shop, I know it'll cost an arm and a leg! Thanks!
  21. Hey all, we're a local Chevy dealer with a strong ecommerce presence. We have the lowest prices on the Kicker subwoofer package for the 2014+ Silverado & Sierra Crew & Double/Extended Cab sizes. Installation does not require dealer install. it is a plug and play package. We have guaranteed low prices that shouldn't be beat! GM offers a few versions of these units: -Double Cab and Crew Cab models have different parts numbers -GM offers just a sub upgrade, or the sub upgrade plus amplifier on the door speakers. *The standard Sub upgrade works with the Bose system. *The kit including Sub plus Amp on the door speakers will NOT work with Bose systems. For a price, please send us a message with your body style truck, and which kit you would be interested in plus your Zip Code for shipping. Everything is in stock ready to ship. Forum members will find that our prices on all GM accessories will be hard to beat. Please message me with any questions on this or any other accessory you may need for your truck. *** Currently running a little bit of a deeper discount on the crew cab models, with just the sub upgrade. Buy cheap, sell cheap is the name of the game ***
  22. Ok, something just started happening with our 2016 GMC 2500HD Denali 4x4 with the diesel. The remote door lock and unlock won't work every time from either of our fobs. We bought this truck last August so I can't imagine the batteries in both of our fobs have died at the exact same time and only 7 months in. My fob gets used the most with my wife's fob barely getting used at all. Anyone else experience/experiencing this? And, what did you do to remedy it? I guess we can try replacing batteries first, but batteries only lasting 7 months in a fob? And both failing at the same time, especially given one gets frequent use and one barely gets any use. We know it's not a fuse because it does work from time to time.
  23. My issue is a little bit different however none the less an annoying one. So yesterday i bought some led bulbs off amazon to replace the dome lights in my truck, i got them opened them up all looks good and then go to put them in, and as i did they turned on not an issue however they where to small so i have to return them, i put the old one back in and not lights in the dash and dome lights are acting up. So it was the left front one i tried it in and took it back out no others. Now none of the lights turn on by the button inside the truck. (door lights and turning them on by the small switch which turns them all on works just fine. when the door is open i can now turn the light off by pressing the button. now those issues are a little less of a bother to me, however the radio (which still works perfect) now has no lights, same with the driver info center buttons 4wd actuator light and the lights on the steering wheel lights. All the buttons however still work perfect it is just the lights. Any help is much appreciated ! Truck is a 2008 GMC sierra 2500HD SLE Diesel crew cab long box
  24. I just purchased a 2011 gmc 2500hd Denali with 157000 miles on it. When the rpms are just below 2000 the needle spikes to 2000 and drops back, as if surging. It downshifts fine. If you try to gradually accelerate at that point it shudders as if in to low a gear. I have not tried pulling anything with this truck yet, but wanted to get an idea whether or not I have a serious problem or not. I took it it to a dealer to have a diagnostics ran on it and the tech couldn’t get power to the tester, so before I tackle that issue I wanted to see if I had a major issue. According to some of these forums this looks to be a issue on a lot of newer trucks. any experience with this issue would help. Thanks
