Ok, something just started happening with our 2016 GMC 2500HD Denali 4x4 with the diesel. The remote door lock and unlock won't work every time from either of our fobs. We bought this truck last August so I can't imagine the batteries in both of our fobs have died at the exact same time and only 7 months in. My fob gets used the most with my wife's fob barely getting used at all. Anyone else experience/experiencing this? And, what did you do to remedy it? I guess we can try replacing batteries first, but batteries only lasting 7 months in a fob? And both failing at the same time, especially given one gets frequent use and one barely gets any use. We know it's not a fuse because it does work from time to time.

I have a 2012 Suburban, owned since new. Yesterday the key fob / remote / keyless transmitter stopped working. It stopped, then worked a couple times to unlock, then quit completely. I assumed it was a bad battery (10+ years old), so I replaced it with a new battery, still didn't work. I have the second remote that's only been used a couple times when the keys were "lost", and it doesn't work either. No response from any buttons. I checked the batteries in both, and both batteries are at 3.3 volts. I pulled the DSM fuse for 5 minutes and then disconnected the vehicle battery for 5 minutes, no change. I have tried holding the remote right next to where (I think) the RCDLR is in the left-rear pillar, still no response. The TPMS system works fine, reading all 4 tires correctly with no errors. I hooked up my ODB2 scanner, and it doesn't show any codes. Do I have two dead remotes? Or has the RCDLR partially stopped working? I called the dealer, all they said was "buy a new remote, your two remotes have died". I asked, why would an unused 10 year old remote die? No answer, just come in and buy one. I have no faith in my dealership's service department based on previous repairs unfortunately, so I thought I'd ask here. My local locksmith will attempt a re-sync for $50, but they said if they're both not working it's not that. Unfortunately this year model won't allow the user to add or reprogram a remote. Thanks in advance for any ideas of what to try, or what might be the issue.

I have less than 300 miles on my 2020 GMC Sierra 2500HD. I have utilized the remote start feature on my fob 3 times so far. Each time, upon entering the vehicle, I place my foot on the brake and push the start button to bring it up to life. Everything works fine, with the exception of the infotainment screen. It remains black, with the exception of displaying the rear camera view when I back out my driveway. Once back in drive, it goes back to black. I have to park the vehicle, turn it off, and then re-start using the vehicles start button to bring the display back on. Anybody else having this issue?

Hello, I have a 2001 GMC Sierra 2500HD, the keyless remote receiver seems to be going out on the truck because i notice it is very selective on when it wants to work, from what distance, and every other factor in general. I even replaced the battery in the original remote and have reprogrammed an identical remote to my truck and it still acts the same. I opened up the dash to find the keyless entry receiver and have the part number #15732806 yet trying to order a new one I come to have found out that it is discontinued and cannot find one online to replace it with. My question is, can I get another keyless entry receiver from say a 2005 or 2007 or 2003 or any other suv/truck from GM and plug it in and just re-program the remote to the receiver, or is there something else I can do to get a new receiver even though the part is discontinued, or basically what are my options?

I have had a problem with my remote keyless entry system on my 2001 Chevy Silverado for at least a year now. I have not been able to unlock or lock my vehicle from any distance, rarely only within a few feet, and even then it is intermittent. I bought the correct replacement key fob, and through several long attempts I was able to program it to my truck, and it has the same problems as the original key fob, which I did try to re-program as well. I am quite certain the problem is due to the wireless receiver in the truck, however I find limited and varying information on where it is located to diagnose or replace it. I went to a Chevrolet dealer earlier and was told it would cost $150 for them to just look at it. I am capable of doing many repairs myself and would like to know if anyone could help find where the malfunctioning component is, or if there are any other tests of some sort that would help me. Thanks.

Hey Techs, I own a GMC Sierra 1500 2009, I don't have a remote start feature on my FOB. In my manual it states "If your vechile does not have the remote vechile start feature, it may have the remote start ready feature" If I do, is it possbile buying just the FOB with the start feature and getting a technician to program it for me? Or even doing it myself? I know there's a option on my dash when I skim through my odometer, tachometer, etc. theres something that I remember seeing called remote key. Maybe a way to program the remote starter? If not does anyone know how much a GM technition charge for a factory remote starter? Thanks.

So I had this problem and it started while driving in a rain storm. It sounded like someone knocking on a door constantly for about a full minute. Perfect knock on wood sound. Then it stopped. Then about ten minutes later the tire pressure monitors quit working and tire signal flashed and tire pressures on all tires showed line instead of pressure. Everything went back to normal after five minutes. Twenty minutes later DIC screen says remote not detected. I left car with remote in pocket and doors locked. When I got back doors would not unlock with handle button. I left remote in car and walked away and car locked with remote inside. Had to get locksmith out for that one. Tire light went back on and was not sensing all tires. Changed battery in remote. Reprogrammed remote and would only start with remote in special pocket and kept saying no remote detected. One hundred miles down the road everything started working correctly. Please help if anyone can

I just purchased my second Chevy Colorado and I am running into an issue. The remote start won't work. The doors lock, when I hold down the remote start button the lights flash but nothing else. No engine light. Hood is closed tight. Not in valet mode batteries good. I took it to the dealer today and after 3 hours of waiting they said it was probably the main computer. Granted this is with them saying they haven't even looked at it yet. This service department has its own issues. They are wanting to have me bring it back later for diagnostics and maybe 5-7 days if it needs a new CPU. Is their any thoughts on how this could be a simple thing I can look at before wasting more of my time with the service department?

I searched but couldnt find anything on this... I recently purchased a 2017 Silverado LT. This truck did not come with the factory universal garage remote switches. Is the truck pre-wired so that I can just buy the new console plate and switch pieces and install them? Thanks!

My 2015 Silverado Z71 5.3 ltr seems to have a starter noise. When using the remote starter function, when the engine starts, for a very brief moment there is a noise which sounds like the starter did not disengage & continues to spin. I don’t notice it as much when using the key in the ignition to start. This is not a normal starting sound & I’ve never on heard it on 3 previous Chevy trucks with remote starters. Any ideas or thoughts?

Hey all....Longtime GM owner but first time forum member. Just received my 17 Sierra Kodiak Edition last week and have already started to tweak. I had the All Terrain X roll bar installed from the dealership and have put a 32 inch double row LED bush bar across and shortly will follow up with two four LED pods rear facing for when I load the trailers. My question is...and forgive me if it has been answered in another thread-which I could not find...Before I go running the harness' thru the firewall and drilling holes in my perfectly new dash to install two seperate switches for my forward and rearward facing LEDs...can anyone recommend a quality built remote set up to buy that has two channels to turn both these light packages on/off? Also to possibly take it one step further..instead of using the wireless fobs to activate, can I program my homelinks buttons instead? I don't have an electronic garage door opener anyway, so to program the two buttons overhead would keep it nice and clean looking inside the cab....any thoughts, feedback, recommendations? Storm

Members just wanted to pass along another Hot Sale item. Keyless Entry Keypad Here is the information from GM: "This Keyless Entry System features a keypad that allows you to lock/unlock your vehicle using a five-digit PIN rather than a key or a key fob. Must be equipped with factory Remote Keyless Entry." Personal note, after coming from my F150 a few years ago, this is one of the items I personally never realized how much I used until I did not have it. Nice to be able to lock/unlock the truck at times when you don't have your keys handy. Only bad news, this only fits the 2017's and up..... From my understanding, they are trying to see what needs to be done to make them work with the 15 and 16's as well..... Limited time price $92.00 shipped to most places in the US Let me know if anyone is interested. Bobby

First off, I'd like to say thank you for any and all help! My keyless entry and remote start have decided to work when it feels like. Usually after you are at the drivers door. Makes it hard to unlock the truck to open the door for the Mrs. I have ordered a new OEM remote, new batteries, and relearned the remotes. I have pulled te BCM fuse, keyless entry fuse, and the unlock fuse and left them out for over an hour prior to replacing. I have taken the remotes and had them tested by a locksmith. Can anyone give me an idea where to turn?

My 2015 2500hd duramax has intermittent issues remote starting. Tries and quits repeatedly with no actual start. Key starts then dies. More prevalent in cold weather. Dealer serviced said key fobs needed to re-communicate with body computer. Symptom still exists. Any feedback on this issue?

I recently purchased a new 2015 Canyon and didn't realize that it did not come with remote keyless entry. I have installed aftermarket keyless and remote starts before, but I want to put in a GM factory kit with remote. Wondering if anyone knows what I would need to buy to do so?

Hey, I'm trying to program a new remote for my 06 sierra (just bought it and it didn't come with any remotes). Obviously the programming instructions are very simple but I'm guessing the door lock module in the truck may be bad. I hold the unlock button while cycling the key twice and before I let go of the button, the locks cycle twice (horn beeps as well), then a few seconds later the locks cycle again. Does anyone know how to diagnose what the problem might be or why it won't go into programming mode? Is it possible I'm missing some piece of hardware? The previous owners said it didn't have remotes but I find that hard to believe in a 2006 truck.. Thanks, Seth
