  3. Hi everyone, so recently I installed a sub/amp setup in my 2018 Sierra SLT Crew Cab. My truck has the 6 speaker BOSE without sub (no console/no sub). We tapped into the rear speaker wire for a signal to an Audiocontrol LC2i. I am noticing that certain frequencies are causing the bass to drop out. It seems like when there is a heavy bass line or kick, while also a singing voice/higher frequency sound, they are competing and ultimately the bass will drop out. Most instrumental music sounds great in the truck, the bass loss is only occurring when there other certain frequencies playing simultaneously. The bass will drop out/go really low, then the next hit will be normal (loud) when the frequencies are no longer competing. I am wondering if this is normal with the LC2i or if something else is causing this issue. Sorry if this explanation sucks...in a nutshell, any bass enthusiast will be able to notice this as soon as they got in my truck. The bass is not consistent and it is super annoying when it drops in and out. (For Ex. the same kick drum will hit at different levels throughout the same song depending on which other sounds are occurring at the same time) Thanks for any replies in advance, I appreciate it. - KJ

With the badges it has on it and the packages the sales guy said it has per those packages I am questioning the ability to have that many on a vehicle.   5. Hi, I have a 2006 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab with the 5' 8" box. I know during 2007 they changed the style slightly, so I'm wondering if a canopy that is currently on a 2008 1500 crew cab (5' 8") would still work? I know the fit wouldn't be exactly perfect, but has anyone had first hand experience trying this or seen it done? I'd greatly appreciate it if you could let me know how it went if so! Looking at the box sizes they're very close (attached photo), but I wonder with the slight style change how it would sit/mount. I've been in need of one for a while but tight on money and they're tricky to find used in my area, one just became available and I'm hoping to pick it up if it would work. If anyone has seen it done where a 2007-2013 canopy has went on the classic style I would love to hear about it and how it fit. Thanks!
  6. "ENGINE POWER REDUCED, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, SERVICE STABILITRAK" Has anyone ever came across this before? Let me start from the beginning. On 11/2932013, halfway on my drive from work to home, I noticed that my truck would "sputter" and the rpm would fluctuate when giving it some gas while going up a hill/incline (interstate). Once I was done with the hill/incline, everything would smooth out. Closer to home, once again, I would only notice the "sputter-like" reaction and rpm fluctuating slightly when giving it gas to climb a hill/incline. Made it home fine with no problems or warnings/lights. Upon embarking to work the next morning (11/30/2013), at approximately 5-6 miles from home, I went to give the truck some gas to get above 60 and all of a sudden all these warnings and dings starting going off. My engine warning light illuminated and my traction control light came on and I noticed some warnings scrolling through at the bottom saying: "ENGINE POWER REDUCED, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, SERVICE STABILITRAK". it blew my mind! Meanwhile, I noticed my truck slowing down no matter how much gas I gave it. I was coming to a road intersection just ahead and preceded to turn around and pull over to investigate. I couldn't understand what was going on so since I was close to home, I just "limped" it back home and not getting over 40-45 mph. Got home and shut engine off and called my job. I went back out later before my ride got there to pick me up, and started my truck. It started fine and I didn't notice any "sputtering" like before, however the engine light is still illuminated. I can't do anything until this Wednesday anyway. Is there someone that has come across this before? The day it happened I Google'd to my heart's content and found that I am not alone, however I did notice that there can be a number of things that could cause this. Would any of this be covered under a warranty? How would I know if I still have warranty on my truck? I need some expert advice on this. Here is my truck info to the best of my knowledge: 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT Taupe Gray 5.3 L V8 Crew Cab Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks, R. Ashley
  7. So about a week ago, I got the "Left rear indicator failure" I figured it was just a bulb. So I put it off for a couple days. However, this Saturday I decided to change out the bulbs. Well the bulbs are good and also the fuses. I checked the wires that come from the junction box and they where all good. Any idea what it could be? The running lights work, but when it comes to stoping and the turn signal I get nothing. This shit is driving me crazy. This is what I've been told: - I need a new Junction Box. - I need to replace the fuse box in the engine bay Please help, thanks for anything!
  8. I have been looking for a four door crew cab with the standard or "longer" bed that is common on extended cab models. I notice this is a very tough combination to find on dealer lots. Is this basically build to order combination? I am surprised that it is not a popular vehicle. Really thinking about replacing my one owner 99 Sierra with either the GMC or Chevy model.
  9. I have a 2008 Silverado 1500 LT with the 5.3 vortec and it needs a new engine. Is it possible to put a 2003 5.3 Vortec engine in this truck or not?

So i been having a issue, first off i am a mechanic seeking advice for more experienced with ac. the system is charged full and the ac fan comes on when it wants to some time i start up its blowing but shit off truck and then ac will not come back on for another couple days i first thought was ac clutch fan or resistor... just need some input if any
  11. Got my hands on a 2020 Silverado 2500hd! Long awaited for me for sure, seeing that they are making their way on to lots. Lets start! Exterior: This particular truck I drove was a Work Truck. In person, the HD is much easier on the eyes, but the WT is, I feel, the least attractive. I think its the black grille treatment that puts me off. This truck had the 17" carryover steel wheels, wrapped in LT265/70R17 Firestone TransForce AT tires (yes, the carryover AT not the AT2). Options list was minimal, including the WT Convenience Package, Integrated Trailer Brake Controller, the AT tires and black bowties. Overall, the truck's exterior is very functional. The bed steps are genius. Sure, they don't tuck away like some aftermarket designs do, however as a result they maintain bed rocker ground clearance like there isn't even a step there. Now, I am personally not a running board guy, mainly for looks (and I think 1/2 tons and Colorados are too low stock for them), but this thing needs them! Definitely an increased step in height with the T1 over the K2 HD. Its noticeable. Also, the size increase is noticeable too. I think its within an inch or so height wise to a Super Duty, and the body is just as wide as one. They dwarf the K2 HD. I do think that the 18" wheels are a must for looks, as they run a 33" tire and suit the truck's profile much better than the 17" wheels do as a result of the 31.5" tire they use. The towing mirrors. Totally functional. I can definitely get behind the way they are mounted once you drive one. This one had the base tow mirror, so just heat and power upper glass. There is much better visibility in the A-Pillar to mirror sightline. I found the extending not what I thought it was going to be? Its actually positionally detented. You pull it out and it comes off the arm a touch and then hits the outer detent. No "in between" position, but that might be just because its the base mirror. Oh! Another interesting fact. No aluminum body panels anywhere that I could see. Its all steel. The hood, doors, tailgate, all steel. Honestly, I was expecting some aluminum somewhere, like the hood at least, maybe the doors. GM wasn't joking when they said it only shares the cab structure, otherwise everything was unique to the HD. The biggest giveaway to those keen enough to notice, is the "CHEVROLET" area on the tailgate. Its nowhere near as protruded on the gate as the 1500 gate. Interior: See 2019+ T1 1500. Don't expect anything different here. Its still a good interior ( I think), apart from some questionable material choices in spots. I will add one important bit. Anyone looking at a WT or Custom trim HD, make sure you sit in an LT or higher with a power seat. The hood is even higher yet than a K2 HD, and the tall front at the end of the hood can be a bit tricky. I'm 5'10" and felt the standard seat to be ok, but some more height would have been nice around a parking lot/close to other cars. The mirrors, see the exterior description above. Powertrain/How it drives: The big bit. This truck had the 6.6 L8T gas V8. For being as large and heavy as this truck is, that powertrain is much improved over the L96, and long overdue. I didn't time anything, but it can move quite well when you want it to. I pulled out from an intersection normally, hit 2nd gear and rolled right into it and it took off quick. The K2 HD dead feeling accelerator pedal is gone too (thank god) and the power feels in line with your right foot. Much better response. Mileage wise, I averaged 15mpg, I'd say 65/35 city-highway split? Even the 6L90 shifting is improved. Do I still hope they throw the 10L90 in it? Yep. But the 6L90 has been a strong unit, and the added power makes it a good package for the time being. The added wheelbase smooths the ride out a touch. Stiffness? Well, its an HD LOL and had 80psi in the rear tires, but it was still well behaved. Overall, a nice improvement on the K2 HD. Love the mirrors, love the power, the bed steps all around. Love the look more or less, could use some interior help for sure. Big thanks to Cavallaro Neubauer Chevrolet in Williamson NY for letting me borrow this beast!   12. I am in process of blacking out my 2014 Sierra Crew Cab. I have the chrome window trim at the moment. I see GM sells the Chrome for $450 and the Black plastic for $185. I am hoping I can find someone that wants to make a trade plus some cash. Or... you have black takes offs and already have chrome installed I'll but them direct and sell my chrome take offs separately.

That’s why we occasionally purchase long term pickups to better understand the ownership experience of these extremely popular vehicles. Our last truck, a 2011 GMC Sierra All Terrain, continues to serve us well all these years later, but became outdated in 2014 when the K2 generation of trucks was produced. We never had a chance to purchase a 2014-2018 Silverado but had a half dozen close friends who let us work on theirs. So when GM announced that the 2019 model year Silverado and Sierra would be brand spankin' new, we knew we had to have one. Thus, a year long effort was set into motion during the Winter of 2017-2018. Internally, GM-Trucks.com declared war on the 2019 Silverado. We could cover it, we would own it, we would be THE place for owners of the T1XX generation to call home. To do that, we had to have one ourselves. We saw the surprise unveiling, followed trim level news, ordering information, factory startup, placed an order the first day we could, then waited (not so) patiently for it to arrive. In September 2018 we took delivery of our new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado LTZ. Here it is a few seconds after the first time we saw it. What’s the plan? We’re going to make our new Silverado work for us and you. Over the next few years we plan on transforming our truck, installing loads of aftermarket parts, and reviewing everything in the process. Our thought process behind this Project Truck is simple. We originally wanted to buy a Silverado Trail Boss but found that Chevy wouldn’t let us get it with the all new 6.2L V8. That engine and the brand new 10-speed transmission was reserved for those who purchased an LTZ or High Country. With the 6.2L being more important, we acquiesced and ordered a more expensive LTZ instead. Thus, our mission to replicate the Trail Boss’s off-road stance and beefed up attitude but with a legendary 6.2L engine and a more luxurious take on things was born. We've decided to call it…. Project Trail Beast More than just a name, Project Trail Beast is a set of core vehicle modification goals that we’d like to accomplish with our 2019 Silverado LTZ. The ultimate goal is to create the truck that Chevy should have made… a Trail Boss with a 6.2L engine. Thankfully, we’re not bound by factory parts anymore, so we can go a little more hardcore than Chevy would have. Our goals include: Suspension Lift: We’ll take our Silverado and raise it a modest 2-4 inches. More aggressive tires are a requirement and aftermarket rims are being considered to complement the higher stance without sacrificing driveability. Beefed Up Performance: 420-horsepower stock isn’t bad…. but isn’t nearly enough. We’ll explore adding a supercharger to our 6.2L and work with leading brands to install performance intake and exhaust systems. We’ll also check in on the custom tuning scene and how the 2019 models can be modified on the inside. Updated Lighting: Even though most of our Silverado has high tech LED lighting, there are still some conventional bulbs. We’ll replacement all with the latest LED tech and add additional illumination around our truck. Expect us to talk about and review industry players such as Sylvania and Baja Lights soon. Utility Accessories: We'll explore bed covers, floor mats, security products, custom keyed locks, ceramic coatings, and a wide range of other accessories that any truck owner may use or need on their vehicle. GM Official Accessories: GM is upping their game and offering lots of performance and visual accessories right from the dealership. We opened up a parts account and immediately started buying.   14. It’s odd that one day my A/C works fine and the other it blows hot to the max air out of the passenger side and cold to the max on the driver side. Defroster isn’t working properly either because when I have it on it just blows air out of the regular vents. Took it to the dealer and they say it could be running out of free-on but that wouldn’t cause it to blow hot as hell air out of one side and cold as hell air on the other no matter what temp setting you have it set. It’s a ‘14 I don’t think it should be having these issues plus we ride with Windows down most of the time.

  16. Just purchased a 2018 gmc 2500hd duramax crew cab. I didn’t realize that they put different front gvw on these trucks. The one I bought only is rated for 5200. Now I can’t put my plow on it. Is there a way to raise this up the 6000 rating.

Anyone else with a crew cab (or possibly other cab style) notice that while driving at speeds 55mph or higher with the rear door windows all the way down results in an almost deafening whop whop whop like or flapping type of sound that practically hurts your ears? Would be what I would call a low frequency. It gets worse the more open the windows are. My 2016 Sierra Crew did this as well, can't recall if my 2012 LTZ Crew did it or not but I think it did. Any ideas what is the culprit? I rarely drive with the rear windows down but when they are, it's maddening and almost makes my ear drums feel like they're going to pop. Not something I'm worried about more than curious what causes it. Thanks in advance!
  18. I traded my 2012 Silverado 1500 for a new 2016 2500HD! It's an LT trim level, but has quite a few options. It has the All Star package and LT Plus package, which adds most of the important items. It also has a few extras, like the LED bed lighting and towing mirrors. MSRP was just a little over 50k. Here's a few completely stock, dealership photos. It looks pretty plain for a 50k truck!
  19. Hello, I'm here looking to see any input anyone may have. I currently just purchased a 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 6.2L and I am looking to do a custom exhaust. I want to make it a true dual and preferably would like to do a single muffler with 2 in and 2 out. I am looking for any input on sound quality and what muffler is best to create the deep rumble many love. I honestly do not care if there is any drone as it doesn't bother me.   21. Looking at buying some new rims / tires. Current: 265/75R16. With new rims looking at 16/17”. My question is what is the biggest/more aggressive tire I can fit on my 2009 GMC Sierra 2500, without putting a lift in. Curious if anyone has any answers or what you are running?
  22. Anyone know what this noise is? It's very intermittent. Seems to do it most often between 40 and 50 MPH cruising with maybe a slight up hill. Never does it on coast or heavy acceleration.   23. So I just bought a GMC Sierra with eAssist. I need all weather floor mats but I can't seem to determine which ones to order for this truck. WeatherTech doesn't seem to know if there is a difference or not. I have been told that there is. Can anyone help me find a set of black all weather mats for the eAssist crew cab?
  24. All - I have for sale the Borla Cat Back Exhaust in Touring Edition: PN 140535 on the Borla website. I had this installed new from the factory, the Touring is a fantastic, rumble... I would call it just the right amount of deep sound. You won't believe how nice it sounds over factory exhaust until you try it. It is in great shape (almost like new) as you can see from the Pics, I polished the tips and the muffler to show you just how clean it really is. The rest of the tubes were left as is, since you will be installing it and getting it dirty anyway. I live in South GA for Pickup, 30 min north of Tallahassee. Price is $800 if I ship it, or $700 local pickup. Let me know if you have any questions !   25. Looking for some help. I have a 2019 Crew Cab LT Trail Boss with 4,600 mi, 5.3 engine. Blew an oil cooler line a few weeks ago, drove 200ft with the blown line and shut the truck off. After telling the dealer and tow company not to start it the first thing I hear from the dealer is that the truck was stalling out as they drove it into the shop/moved it and that a nice feature on these new trucks is that the engines don't blow with low oil, they just stall out. Next day the dealer tells me that it's a blown engine. I've been telling the dealer for a week now that I want a new truck. What's a reasonable course of action for the dealer here? What should I expect as a solution or should I ask for as a solution? They're currently tearing apart the engine so GM can evaluate what exactly is wrong and do a cost analysis.
