  1. 2017 sierra A/T crew cab I have the most annoying tick noise over bumps, coming from the b pillar behind my left ear and it is driving me brick house, I've pulled at the trim off put my hands on everything made sure everything is tight, stuff rags in between contact points, I've run out of ideas, anyone have an guidance for me, I'm a ex gm technician of 5 years , I know what I'm doing but of course my own truck baffles me..per usual any new bulletins or tsbs?
  2. Hey fellas, I have a 2014 with the 5.3 engine with around 80k miles and every time i start the engine it makes a squeaking noise either Hot or Cold. Sounds like belts but changed them all, lube them and still there? Anyone with this issue? Thanks.
  3. I had my truck into the dealership a few weeks ago for seat movement issues and it seems they added two small clips to fasten the seat cushion to the frame. At first it seemed it may be better (I think it was psychological), but I now have movement in the seat again. I see the clips are still there, but I get seat movement (lateral and forwards/backwards, not up and down) in turns and braking. It definitely feels like the bracket to me as the movement is small but sudden and clunks, not smooth like the cushion is sliding. Every time I get in the seat clicks/clunks a little in a manner that makes it seem as if it is taking up the slack in the bracket bushings or pivot points. Anyone who has had the actual seat bracket replaced have any better luck fixing the issue? is it the same bracket without a fix to address the slop in the bracket? This is ridiculous to have this happen on such an expensive vehicle. I know it is a new model blah blah blah, but things like this fall under the basic fundamentals. Figure out how to make a seat!!! Venting over....Thanks for the help and otherwise I love the truck so far, but get frustrated over such elementary things going wrong.
  4. Just the other day I started to notice a vibration/rattle noise coming from the front passenger side around 70mph. It almost sounds like the windshield, or what you would expect something rattling against glass to sound like. I can’t pinpoint where it’s coming from, but’s somewhere within the vicinity of the passenger side dash/windshield/headliner area. Sounds more like it’s around the headliner area. It it mostly only seems to happen at higher speeds (70+mph) although today I did just today hear it at 60mph for the first time. My guess is maybe the the windshield is leaking some air since it happens at higher speeds??? Because going over bumps doesn’t seem to have any negative or positive impact on the noise. Anyone else have any issue like this, or any guess as to what it might be?
  5. Hey everyone, So i just purchased my first Silverado used and immediately the gf and I notice a high frequency noise. The truck is a 2016 LT and when I test drove the truck we noticed nothing odd. after the salesman gave me a rundown on everything and how it works. He then put the truck in 4x4 auto and was explaining the 4x4 stuff and then onto onstar. We left the dealership and immediately turned around and asked for him to hop in. He witnessed the noise and scheduled service to fix the problem. They gave me a bulletin for the transfer case and claim that is the noise when the transfer case is running. it sounds like a high frequency electrical noise. I have tried searching the forums and internet with no luck. I'm ready to try and just purchase a new switch and see if that solves the problem. any thoughts or advice would be great. When I put the vehicle in 2H I get zero noise from switch, when its in 4Auto or 4x4 then you can here the noise come and go randomly.
  6. I've noticed a lot of us are having interior noise issues. Thought I might try to compile a list of what I've experienced with my truck & what I've seen on here. If you acknowledge or add to this list, PLEASE include your truck's make, model, cab type, and build date (or purchase date if you don't know build). People can't see your signatures on some mobile devices. Thanks. GMC Sierra SLT Crew Cab built 6/2014 My truck's noises: 1) Driver's seat squeak/burp/fart sound - Cause: the left side of seat's leather rubbing against plastic trim. Status: not resolved. 2) Driver's seat popping noise - Cause: unknown. It happens when I lift/lower my weight off/on seat. Status: not resolved. 3) Rattling noise coming from panel below steering wheel, in front of driver's knees - Cause: Metal backing vibrating against plastic panel. Status: DIY fix. Removed panel and slid a piece of cardboard b/w panel & it's attached metal backing to prevent vibration. 4) Rattling noise from behind center stack. Cause: Plastic panel over windshield dash vents hitting against underlying supports, especially near the light sensor. Originally I thought the sound was coming from behind the radio/climate controls but the way the windshield reflects the sound tricks your ears. Status: not resolved. Will likely attempt another DIY fix b/c dealership takes way too long. 5) Squeak/rattle from rear seats - Cause: debatable. Sounds like it's coming from seat hinge mechanism or possibly hanger behind seats. Definitely my most annoying noise to date! Status: not resolved. I've attempted several times to locate & correct but no luck. Debating if I'm going to go further & remove seats or just let dealer handle this one. Other noises I've read about but thankfully have not experienced myself: 6) Noise from rear cab.. exhaust - Cause: Exhaust heat shield tapping against underside of cab. Fix: bend metal away from cab 7) Noise from rear cab.. window - Cause: Rear sliding window. Fix: add weatherstripping. (hopefully someone else will elaborate on this one) Thanks
  7. Just bought this vehicle yesterday and now on the way home going interstate speed’s it’s making a noise like a window was rolled down or something and making my ears hurt along with my wife’s is this normal or is this a common problem and if so what’s the fix?
  8. So i just got a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado. Im brand new to this forum but need answers. I have a whine particularly noticeable in first gear from a stop that is a constant pitch and gets louder with rpm. I went and had my tranny serviced, the place said the pan looked good no excessive material on the pan or anything. But i just cant seem to shake this noise. It does it every single time. Also my headlights flicker when i apply the brakes. Also a very faint hum is heard in overdrive very faint. You have to listen to it. Notice it between 45-55mph other than that i love the truck but these 3 things are bothering me bad cause it is the first chevy ive owned. Any help? Please. 5.3 L V8 w/afm
  9. Has anyone experienced a similar issue? I have a 2019 Silverado trail boss and when you turn the fan on, whether it’s ac or heater, there is a noise that is not normal. It comes from the passenger side inside the dash area. It’s not a loud noise and if the stereo is on you won’t hear it. It sounds like the fan motor is off. I wouldn’t bother taking it in if all trucks made the noise but they don’t. I had the dealership take me in another trail boss and there was no sound, just normal wind sound. They changed a bearing saying that was the issue but it is still making the same noise. The second time I brought it in they said they are reporting it to GM. I brought it in today and the service desk worker said it’s “normal”. I asked why the others don’t make the noise and he said it’s “normal”. Obviously not normal or they would all make the same sound. Anyone know what it is??
  10. Im hearing a whistling noise coming from right above the driver seat when at freeway speeds. Is anyone else having this problem?
  11. Anyone know what this noise is? It's very intermittent. Seems to do it most often between 40 and 50 MPH cruising with maybe a slight up hill. Never does it on coast or heavy acceleration. Very hard to tell where it's coming from. 20190521_191545_001.mp4 2014 Sierra Denali 1500 Crewcab, 5'8" bed 6.2 Litter 3.42 axle ratio about 118,000 miles
  12. I’ve had my Lt Trailboss for just a few days now and it seems like the Hvac blower is louder than it should be. Has anyone had any issues with this? I had a 2017 Silverado before but never noticed the noise. It’s possible that because the interior is so much quieter that I’m just noticing it more. If anyone has any info on this I would appreciate it.
  13. Just purchased a 2018 z71 after the torque converter died on my 2015. Really like the newer front end, however I have noticed a lot of wind noise from my drivers window vs my 2015 model, anyone seen this issue?
  14. My 5.3 2014 - Silverado makes a clattering noise while running/idling in park. Dealer affirmed "hearing it" saying may be "injector" noise. Advised to put some more miles on it and then bring it back in. They would compare it to another 2014 running/idling at that time. I know my 2010 was much quieter running/idling in park. Friend of mine (Ford guy) pointed the noise out to me when I stopped bye to "show off" my new ride. Embarrassed!!!!!
  15. new guy on the forum here, hi! I'm having a weird problem with my 2003 sonoma. Every once in a while my truck will whines (see video). It used to make a higher pitch whine than that when it was cold outside, but the weird thing is that it rarely does it. And I think it may be related but the truck smells like burnt rubber sometime. Another thing that maybe related to that noise is that when I let off the gas at 100-110 km/h, my rpm drops suddently from 2100-2200 to 1400-1500, and I go from 100-110 km/h to 70-80 km/h in seconds. I've checked my front end and brakes, and the noise doesn't come from there. I was thinking maybe a vaccum leak somewhere, but I'm not to sure anymore since its smelling burnt rubber. Anyone wanna give their 2 cents? thanks in advance
  16. Ok so here is my problem! I'm new here so hopefully I can get this rite lol!! I have a 2004 suburban 5.3 vortec 2wheel drive! 170,XXX miles on it. I've owned it for about a year now. Always took care of it. Truck is very nice and well kept up! So here is my issue. I was sitting in my buddy's driveway last nite talking for a min when I noticed a knock coming about! I mentioned it to him but we thought maybe it was just the AC compressor or something.( Noise was light at this time) so we think nothing of it continue to talk and I noticed it getting louder! So I get out and I swear it was a rod knock from in pan so I leave go home (about a mile away) shut it off stop for the night and tow it to my shop this morning... I drop the pan pulled all rod caps and checked the bearings then pulled all the main caps and checked those as well!! THEY LOOK GREAT! so now I go to the oil that I drained out of it prior to dropping the pan there is gold flakes of metal in my oil! So I keep looking to find that looking up between the crank I can see the cam shaft and I can see a lobe is shot!! So now I'm gonna put lifters and a new cam.... Now here is my question where did the gold flakes come from? As far as I know gold flakes are from a bad bearing correct???? But I don't have a bad bearing I have a bad lobe on my cam and a bad lifter!!! Would the bad cam lead to a bad cam bearing?? HELP ME PLEASEEEE
  17. I'm driving down the road and I can hear this squeaking under the driver's seat. I have a 2018 Chevy Colorado Ext Cab Z71 with less than 5k miles on it. I have confirmed it is not any of the leather. What do y'all think?
  18. I am trying to troubleshoot a strange noise that occurs when I start my 2008 5.3L 4WD Avalanche. It only happens occasionally, usually only on cold starts (although I can get it to happen with repeated startups), and it is usually pretty brief and goes away as the car starts. Its a metallic noise but kind of hard to describe, so I have a video/audio of three repeated startups, and the noise occurs on the third turnover. My first thought was of course starter, but I am not sure if it would make this kind of noise, and it does not occur often or long enough for me to pinpoint the location of the sound. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
  19. Hi All, been reading all of the great posts on this forum. I have a 1500 Sierra SLT All Terain with 2,000 miles...unfortunately my first post is to ask about a sound I've heard on two different occassions from my truck. Strangely outside of these two recent occurances, it hasn't happened again so I'm not sure if this is a problem that is lurking to resurface later or something else. The first time it happened was around noon on Monday of this past week. I had driven the truck 10 minutes to work with no issues. I left it parked outside until lunchtime, and then while driving it from the parking lot, I noticed what sounded like a softball or something rolling/bouncing around in the back of the truck when I accelerated. It actually reminded me of a rattle my dad's old 72 chevy had that was caused by a gas cap he cut off and part of it fell into the tank causing a rattle noise when he would make turns and the cap would move around the tank. Incidently, my gas tank level was very low that day, no idea if there is any correlation there, but wanted to offer as much info as possible. The second time it happened was now after the tank was very full (again no idea of the correlation), but still would get this strange rattle coming from the back of the truck when I would accelerate. Unfortunately or fortunately, outside of those two instances, it hasn't happened again this week. I don't want to take the truck in to be looked at until it was something that I could reliably point out, but obviously don't want this problem hanging over my head for the next two years either. Any thoughts on what it might be? I would guess somethign with the drivetrain, but it's strange that it didn't happen the rest of the week. I'm out in CA so temperatures have been warm, no extreme cold issues that I know others have faced with their trucks. Thanks for any ideas/suggestions.
  20. Good evening, I have a 2016 Silverado Custom double cab and I was wondering if anyone has this particular issue that I have been dealing with for quite some time. I purchased the truck brand new from my local dealership and as time went by it developed this clattering noise. This particular noise tends to appear when I am either braking while entering an intersection or driving and slow breaking. It sounds like its coming from the middle compartment of the truck and I cant seem to figure out what the deal with it is. I have tried with no success to record the noise in order to take it to the dealership to no avail. I have taken it to the dealership but they tell me that I have to replicate the sound in order for them to be able to determine a diagnostic in order to fix it. I took the tech on a drive but I was unable to duplicate the sounds. It sounds like its a progressive clanking noise of two metal pieces. The sound is not constant but rather it tends to build up in noise and then clutters down. The truck has only 11k miles on it and all have been placed by me. If anyone can please help me with this so that I can take it to the dealership with something in order for them to handle this it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  21. Hi Guys, Have 2014 Sierra SLT AT 4x4 with 1600km's and this past week had the seasons first couple inches of snow and tried out the 4 wheel drive for the first time and right away noticed a slight but noticeable pinging high frequency noise coming from the dash when in "4 wheel high" or "4 wheel auto" but immediately goes away when back in "2 wheel high". When I first heard it I thought is was my keys jingling and grabbed a hold of them and ruled that out.. (only one other key) Mind you it's nothing cranking up the radio can't take care of but otherwise it's annoying as heck.. Anyone else experienced this? It sounds much like jingling keys but high frequency. Only happens in 4WDHigh or 4WDAUTO, never in 2WD.. Just curious if anyone else has experienced this at all? Will mention it to the dealer next time I'm in.. - Al
  22. I have a 2016 Sierra SLT Z71 the Air conditioning started making noise after about a year, had it in service 4 times they changes fan, compressor and cabin filter clean system no help. The noise stops when A/C is turned off and the fan still running and starts again when A/C is turned back on gets louder as engine revves. Anyone have an idea what the problem can be? Service can't find a fix and I'm going crazy. The 4 loaner trucks I have been driving while being serviced are very quite. This is my 8th new GMC Sierra first time had a problem.
  23. Hi, 03 Yukon Xl Denali 6.0 AWD. Has a growl/whine noise in the front end as I slow down after a long stretch of highway speed. Happens at low speed before stopping. It also makes a clunk sound as I accelerate out of a low speed turn in the front end. A slight delay in engaging and clunk sound. Front differential, transfer case, wheel bearings? Anybody deal with something similar or can identify? Thanks guys
  24. Hey guys, I have a 2017 Sierra 2500hd denali 4x4 Bought new about 2 weeks ago and am finding when I'm climbing in and out of the truck the front seat squeaks. It sounds like the leather rubbing on something. When just driving it's fine, but shifting myself around or getting in and out there is a squeaking noise? Its driving me nuts! The cabin is next to silent except this issue... A 3500hd denali i test drove did not have this problem. Just wondering if its something simple before i go bothering my dealer.... As a side note I also have a 2017 Yukon Denali and the seats make no noise at all and side by side they are the same seat.
  25. Just had the rear main seal, and the transmission output seal replaced which meant the transmission had to come out completely. Everything looks and feels fine, except now there is a grinding/scraping noise coming from either the transmission output or where the drive shaft meets the differential. The noise is louder at slower speeds. Do new transmission output seals need to be "broken in" and such noise is normal? Otherwise, it's back to the dealer.
