  1. Looking for some info on my 2004 Chevy truck. I got a clicking noise in my dash and yesterday my heater stopped blowing hot air no both sides. I found the actuator below the ash tray and removed it and opened the door but still nothing but cold air...Any suggestions ?
  2. My 2016 Sierra 2500HD has 176,000 miles on it already and recently started eating parts. The latest part to fail was the reductant tank heater (DEF Heater). Upon cold start the check engine light came on with code P21DD. After a little reading I learned that this can result in “Limp Mode”. I was in the middle of nowhere in Northern Wyoming. Not cool! I drove down to Denver and replaced it that week. I shot this video of the repair.....
  3. 2004 GMC Sierra Denali Auto Climate Control Module not adjusting temperature correctly. When you try to adjust temperature up the display will adjust up and down.
  4. Alright Gents, I'm new to the forum. My truck is a 2012 Silverado LTZ Z71 and it has the dual climate control and auto climate button. Heres the problem: About two weeks ago my air quit working out of no where, it would not work at all! Okay, so I replaced the blower motor and resistor and harness, still no air. So, then I replaced the in dash climate control module. The air will work, however it works when it wants to. I can cut the truck on, cut the power on and it wont work, but I'll be d****d if the air works after I've been sweating for a good hour while driving around in this Alabama heat and try turning it on at random! Sometimes, I can take out the fuse to the module and leave it out for a few minutes and out it back in and it work for a few hours with me cutting it on and off as I enter and exit the truck. I finally said to h*** with it and took it to a shop this morning, they called and said that it was the climate control module, that I just replaced mind you, and that they are waiting for a call back from the dealer because the module is a dealer part. I just now got to thinking about something...is there a specific procedure that you're supposed to follow after replacing the climate control module?? Am I missing something??? For the record the resistor did need replacing and I went ahead and replaced the blower motor as well since the old one was starting to lose it's umph and not push air like it used to. So, again...am I missing something here? I've looked and looked, and I'm not the only one with this problem, however no one has the exact problem. I'm really at my wits end guys! I work outside, so yeah I'm pissed right now because I cant escape this dang heat.
  5. Has anyone experienced a similar issue? I have a 2019 Silverado trail boss and when you turn the fan on, whether it’s ac or heater, there is a noise that is not normal. It comes from the passenger side inside the dash area. It’s not a loud noise and if the stereo is on you won’t hear it. It sounds like the fan motor is off. I wouldn’t bother taking it in if all trucks made the noise but they don’t. I had the dealership take me in another trail boss and there was no sound, just normal wind sound. They changed a bearing saying that was the issue but it is still making the same noise. The second time I brought it in they said they are reporting it to GM. I brought it in today and the service desk worker said it’s “normal”. I asked why the others don’t make the noise and he said it’s “normal”. Obviously not normal or they would all make the same sound. Anyone know what it is??
  6. Hey Guys, I didn't do a full write up, but wanted to compile all the links I used in one place to maybe help others. My driver side seat heater went out last year or so, and my bottom foam was absolutely shot. Even had a lean toward the door, wife and I both noticed it causing us pain on the way to Florida, so I finally stopped putting it off. Decided if I was going to do the seat heater, I was going to do the TSBs on the under side as well as the foam itself. I went back and forth on doing the OEM foam, but finally settled on attempting to upgrade it. Went with The Seat Shop option on Amazon. Very quality piece, fit like OEM, has the same connections for the tubes on the leather cover and the velcro on the bottom side leather attaches to in 2 spots. The stiffness is noticeable feeling them side by side. I feel this one will hold up better, but time will tell. Ill circle back in a year or so and report back. Parts: The Seat Shop Durofoam I bought, part number may vary slightly check for your application. Heated vs Cooled etc. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078NG3V47/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I bought my seat heater from the local dealer. After looking around and adding shipping the difference was negligible. I ended up with part number GM 23168136. Yours may vary depending on year, model, heated, cooled, etc. TSB parts ACDelco 10-4057 Synthetic Multi-Purpose Glycol Lubricant GM 13594989 Shim Clip GM 13405675 RETAINER-F/SEAT CUSH LATL ADJR Process: Links I used to aid in tear down and replacement below. I dont think any of these were perfect vids/write ups, but if you watch/read them all there is some great info in each. Troubleshooting the heater before you go down this road. https://youtu.be/6hDrsJakOTY Steps to remove seat and replace heater. Good tips in the text below video I agreed with as well. https://youtu.be/Xgkvn2qYSM8 Decent video showing some more context on the side seat trim. Adds some steps on the manual tilt handle as well if you have that. https://youtu.be/oDvmyX9ZlP8 Another video on removing both front seats. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0u-pYdIZsg The text walk through here is fantastic, pretty step for step. Pictures were a little lacking, but combo it with the above videos and you will be well armed for this. Credit to user here: Jullian is not my name. https://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/209411-how-to-replace-heated-seat-element-pads/ Walk through of the TSB for the seat movement fix, I dont know that I had much issue here but for a few dollars I did it while it was out. Cant hurt. Some good cut aways and pictures to help you in general as well. 7. My father-in-law has a 2000 S10 that the heater doesn't blow hot air in defrost, in floor mode or combo. It only barely blows warm air in upper body mode. The engine is running normal temperature. Is it a blend door actuator problem? Or a different actuator problem?
  8. I keep hearing gurgling sounds coming from my p/s dashbored and my heater goes in And out at random. Any ideas on what it could be? Maybe heater core? I have a 2014 Silverado
  9. Hi there, I have been having an issue with the HVAC in my 2002 GMC Sierra 2500HD duramax w/ auto climate control. The blower would intermittently stop working from time and time, and sometimes would work fine for days. However just recently it stopped working altogether, right during a cold snap of course! After researching all over the net, I learned the most common problem was the blower motor resistor (or in my case the HVAC control module). So I replaced it hoping for a quick fix. But still didn't work. Ive tried disconnecting the battery and resetting the system, ive checked voltage all over and the control module is getting power but is not sending power to the blower. I bench tested the blower and it works fine. All fuses are good. I'm not sure what else to look for. I am at the point where I'm considering taking it in, but of course due to the holidays I cant get my truck in to any shop until the new year, if I haven't froze to death by then. Any help would be greatly appreciated! The picture is to show the type of control module I have. (Pictured is the old one, new one is identical)
  10. I have a 2000 gmc yukon, and replaced the actuator on the passenger side. Now the rear vents work great, but I am not getting any heat at all in the front. I would appreciate any help! Thanks!
  11. My water pump went out last summer which irreparably damaged my heater core in my '07 GMC Sierra Crew cab 1500. The shop that replaced the water pump just bypassed the heater core. They gave an estimate of $1100/labor to replace it. Being that I live in Alabama, I don't need a heater THAT bad, but it does get pretty miserable some mornings. How hard would it be for me to do the job. I am no mechanic by any means, but am pretty good with tools. I already do a majority of the work on my vehicles myself, I've just never tackled this exactly.
  12. So here I am waiting for the dealership to decide whether to change my heater core because of anti freeze smell in truck..... now I am having issues with my heater motor. When I turn it right up it makes a really loud noise and you can feel the vibration in the truck from it. Its not a high pitched noise,,,,, and hard to describe..... kind of a loud hum and unbareable. Then when you go to turn the heater motor to off it takes awhile for it to slow down and shut off. I have also complained about the stiff steering and service managers says sorry thats just how it is..... well have I got news for him. I do not enjoy driving this truck and am really wishing I had my 2007 LTZ back. The steering sucks. I only have about 1100 miles on it and have had it two months. Its disappointing these things are happening because its a sharp looking truck and does have a lot of plus`s. I am hoping something can be done with this.
  13. I had the problem that a lot of people have had with their blower motor resistor. basically, all of a sudden, your heater blower stays on ALL THE TIME, and you have to pull the fuse and replace the Blower Motor Resistor. So, I went to change it out, and i found out that since i have the HD model, there is AUTO temp control, so i had to buy the $90 one. Ok, so i did that, and replaced it. Well, now the blower motor doesnt stay on all the time, so that's good. The problem now is there is no vent control, and no air coming out of ANYWHERE. I have FULL blower control, with all the fan speeds working, but no air. I know the blower is working, because I can hear it doing what the control panel is telling it to. I can feel the heat, and if I let it sit for long enough it will warm up in the cabin, but it's just from air seeping out, not from any legitimate airflow. I am seriously losing my mind with this truck lately... any suggestions would be really great. also, is it possible that the new motor resistor, while fixing the heat-staying-on issue, somehow is the wrong resistor, and maybe causing something else to go haywire?? I got it at Autozone, so i doubt that it's the wrong model, but still....thanks
  14. So I have developed an issue this winter where mice have decided my truck was a good spot for hiding dog food (not sure how a mouse can haul a large breed junk of dog food but whatever). Anyway, I took my air box apart to find about 5# of dog food hidden under the filter!! What?!!! Funny thing is this happened with my old truck as well! Strange! Anyway, that dog food has somehow made it into my HVAC system. I literally have dog food rolling around in there somewhere and making it's way out the floor vents! I took the blower motor out and couldn't find anything there. It looks like they are getting access to the channel l that runs the width of the truck where the vents are by the windshield. So, how on earth am I suppose to get the dog food out of there and how do I keep them bastards out of my truck??
  15. 2015 chevy 1500.. 3400 miles. A couple of times the heat didn't work. It always did "next time".. the other day I had to take a 3 hour drive.. it didn't work the whole way there...stopped for an hour..headed back still with no heat (it was 42* so it was not pleasant) Took to dealer - they said they cant find anything wrong, of course, and of course the he was working fine. Its only done this a couple of times in the past 2 months now. Anyone experienced anything similar? It blows out air, and it will adjust the fan speed properly (or what I'm guessing WOULD be properly if it was blowing out heat) based on the temp of the cab. Even when taken off of auto and just turned temp to hi and fan speed up, with AC button off, it was still blowing cold air. Any ideas? Could it somehow be user error? (doubtful) Also when the AC button is on, even when its on heat, is the AC really still running? seems dumb that lights always on even when you have the temp high and its blowing heat.
  16. So today when I was leaving work I noticed that my fan on my heater was extremely loud.....I know normally it is loud when on full blast but this sounded like I had a generator running...It felt like the whole truck was shaking...It only did it on the highest fan setting and one down from the highest...and also did it in both heat and air....It did it through the entire drive home....There was a crap load of snow here today in Ontario...It has since stopped once I tried again after I shovelled my driveway.... Any thoughts on what it may have been? Cheers
  17. Hi All I have a 2007 GMC Sierra new body style and when I have the heater on it might blow on my feet like I have it set to do but then out of the blue it will change to the body vents and the fan speed will also change on its own. Any idea why this might happen and how to fix it? Thanks
  18. Vehicle: 2005 Silverado crew cab LT with dual zone HVAC Issue: It was cold this morning, so ran the heater for a while then, when it warmed up, turned both driver and passenger knobs from "90" to "60" degrees and switched air flow from floor to dash vents. But the air stayed hot and didn't change to the ambient temp like they should have. Made the stops I needed and, even after turning off and re-starting the truck a few times as I made my stops, hot air continued to come out of the dash vents. This actually happened to me several weeks back, but it was corrected the next time I drove the truck (which is generally about twice a week). Anyone else experienced this? If so, what's the cause and resolution?
