  1. The defrost vent on my 2019 Trail Boss is always on, even when I turn it off using the mode button. This occurs when the AC button is off too. Any DIY fix to resolve this? It gets way too hot around my head when running the heat.
  2. I am an old man. what is a light tester
  3. 2019 Trail Boss. I use the USB ports in my dash a lot for both charging and CarPlay with my iPhone. They stopped working but the ports inside my center console work. Any idea how to resolve? I had some tailgate and truck bed collision work recently completed, including replacing the rear camera. Anything they could have impacted for the dash USB ports while doing this work?
  4. Thanks! Haven't made any decisions but cabin fever has me planning some trips when things thaw out a little bit and still wanting to get something like this. I'll check out UpTop.
  5. Recently the inside driver door lock button stopped working on my 2019 Z71. The outside door lock button works fine. When I first noticed it it was getting sensitive to having to push it on one side, after a couple weeks it just completely stopped working. Is this button something I can pop out and clean or otherwise repair easy? Just checked and my bumper-to-bumper expired 2 years back so I assume this isn't covered even though I still have powertrain until mid-November.
  6. I'd like to keep a handgun in my 2019 Silverado center console and recently learned of these console vaults. They are appealing to me but every single one I see on Amazon has a very low number number of ratings. Are there any popular brands/models?
  7. My truck doesn't pull to either side which is the only way I know if something is out of alignment.
  8. I have the original Goodyear Wrangler Durotrac tires (M&S LT275/65R18) on my 2019 TrailBoss. They have been really loud from Day 1, loudest tires I've ever had on any truck. It doesn't sound normal but I can't tell if that's just how they are or what and I've just lived with the annoyance. At first I didn't notice it as much as everything else about the truck was so smooth and nice and new, but over time I couldn't help focusing on it. I have to turn my radio up louder and it can bothers my passengers. Are these Durotracs just known to suck so bad or can it somehow be something else? I wish I had replaced them years ago but was cheap and lazy. They have lasted 55k and I'll probably get another 5k out of them before they need replacing.
  9. I think I want a bed rack for my 2019 Z71. I do a fair amount of truck camping and my bed is usually full of storage crates, camp chairs and a big cooler. I want to bring my big kayak on some of my trips but there just isn't room with the other stuff so I'm considering a bed rack. I live near the mountains (East coast) so see a lot of those 'overland' style bed racks with integrated storage systems for things like roof top tents, fuel tanks, shovels, etc. I don't think I want one of those but the idea of a modular style rack that I can expand if I decide I want a more versatile rack system. Any suggestions? I'm both interested in a standard aluminum rack as well as a base modular system. My bed side rails have some kind of plastic cover that only exposes the rear poicket so I'm not even sure how these things attach.
  10. I thought I wanted fold up but now thinking roll up is the best for use
  11. I think simply visually hiding the truck contents is the level of security I'm after. So whatever would be the most secure of the low to mid range solutions. I just have zero experience with these and don't have any kind of retail businesses near me that sell them so I can look at them. I like the idea of a hard cover over a vinyl cover, although having a vinyl cover fully retract seems like it would be handy.
  12. When I truck camp I usually have several Action Packers and/or Plano Sportsman storage crates holding all my camping gear sitting in my truck bed. Some campgrounds are sketchier than others, and at times I go off hiking or kayaking I'd like to be able to use the tonneau cover over the bed. Is there a type of tonneau cover that is easy to temporarily install/remove that will fit my 2019 Silverado? I don't want it permanently installed - would only want to put it on for trips where I want to conceal what is in the bed.
  13. I stopped to talk to a neighbor, put my truck in Park and exited the vehicle leaving it running because my dog was inside and I wanted the A/C to keep running. I was standing 20' away so it's not like I left it inside and walked away. My neighbor talked on and on but I could still hear the truck running. After 15 to 20 minutes (not exactly sure how much time went by) I walked back to the truck and it was not running. I didn't hear it shut off, but it had to have been within a minute or two ago as I know it was running during the majority of the long conversation as I was keeping an eye on it. Did my truck just randomly stop or is there some kind of feature that will turn off an idling engine after X minutes? Dog was fine, inside was still very cool.
  14. My state (Virginia) doesn't have a length limitation but does require a red flag if it protrudes over 4'. No problem doing that. But it also requires a "red light plainly visible" if at night and I can't immediately think of anything I have at home to do this. Anybody know of a cheap red light solution - preferably battery powered (although I could run it off my trailer hitch receptacle with a long enough cord)
  15. I need to transport a 12' extension ladder. I've googled and this configuration seems more recommended than hanging the ladder 4' to 5' out the back of my bed. I'm concerned about resting the ladder on the plastic third taillight thing at the back rear of my cab. Any thoughts about protecting it? Note this is not my truck.
  16. My key fob will perform a remote start without Onstar. Why do you need Onstar for remote start? Is your vehicle usually parked outside range of the fob?
  17. I don't pay for Onstar access. it was really expensive when my trial period expired.
  18. I don't like the Chevy option of locking my doors every time I exit as I'm in and out of it several times a day and don't always have my key on me to unlock. I really only want to lock it at night, say 8 PM, as once every few years my neighborhood gets hit by some losers stealing spare change and stuff. Other than that it's pretty safe. I do not pay for OnStar but my truck is close enough to the house that my keyfob locks/unlocks/autostarts with ease. I know how to configure Alexa, what I don't know is if there is a way to make Alexa do the equivalent of issuing my keyfob signal to lock the doors? I'm too stupid to remember to do it every night.
  19. Any specific things I can look at to see where the problem is occurring? Is there a known seal that often fails?
  20. 2019 Trail Boss. Noticed this water stain on the fabric of my ceiling. What the hell is going on here? There is no hole in my ceiling so maybe it is coming in via my external ceiling brake light? I've never noticed any water leaking in before. Really no idea how long this has been there.
  21. Thanks @New Dude! Your info about "Here's the bulletin on 8 speed shudder for 2019 - 19-NA-121 1..6 (nhtsa.gov)" matches my issue. How can I determine if my truck meets this date criteria?
