GM settled the case by repurchasing my truck for the full price paid plus penalties.
-
My lawyer just reached a settlement with GM over the intermittent black screen issue with my 2019 Silverado 1500 WT. After multiple unsuccessful attempts by the dealer to repair it, I contacted a California Lemon Law lawyer. GM repurchased my truck for the full price that I originally paid for it plus penalties to settle the case. Gonna buy a FORD.

You will not find a better tonneau cover for your 2019 or Later Silverado 1500 (new body style) than this one. This is made of aluminum and can support 500 lbs of weight. It is very secure. This will fit the new body style Chevy or GMC short bed (5'8"). I am selling the cover because the truck is being returned to Chevy. The cover itself is in perfect working order and is only 2 years old. I bought it from Mobile Living in Concord, CA. They will remove it from my truck and professionally install it on yours for an additional $280 or you can do it yourself. This cover normally sells new for about $2500 with tax, so the $1000 price is a great deal and is firm. Don't bother offering me less. Sorry... I can't ship this thing.. you'll have to pick it up locally. You can check out all of the details of this cover at: https://realtruck.com/p/truck-covers-usa-american-roll-cover-matte-black/v/chevy/silverado-1500/2019/ or https://www.truckcoversusa.com/american-roll-cover/ Constructed from double walled aluminum Durable matte black powder coat finish Supports up to 500 lbs. evenly distributed Auto-locks every 12" 8" x 8" canister Drain tubes included Convenient pull strap Made in the USA

STARTING MY LEMON LAW CLAIM: After multiple attempts to get my intermittent screen going blank in my 2019 Silverado, I have decided to move forward with a Lemon Law claim and am working with a lawyer. He feels confident that he can get GM to buy back my truck for what I paid for it. Unfortunately, I've also spent money to upgrade the rims, install a tonneau cover, running boards, etc. But, I'd prefer not to have to deal with this on a truck that I'd like to drive for 1-15 years.

Fixed??? (Maybe) So, after multiple times in and out of the shop.... they did a global reset on the system, they replaced the USB port, etc. This last time they replaced the "serial data gateway module" and fixed some terminal that had a bad connection. So far, after a month it seems to have fixed the issue (fingers crossed). I'm posting the invoice so that others might be able to learn something from it. I'll update if I get a blank screen again... I have a long road trip coming up so that should be a good opportunity to test it thoroughly. UPDATE: Well, unfortunately have to report that after 5 weeks of hoping that all is good, I had another incident of the screen going blank again. I'm not driving much these days because I'm working from home due to COVID, otherwise it might have happened sooner. It was just a very brief outage. Screen went black for maybe 10-15 seconds and then came back on. It happened while I was in a turn lane and when it happened I noticed a slight hiccup in the rhythm of the clicking sound from the turn signal at the moment it went blank, which leads me to believe that it might be related to a larger electrical issue (although I have no automotive electrical experience.. just guessing). I have just under 10K miles on the truck now.

Custom Trail Boss Console Upgrade?
AlohaDan replied to Texas_Trail_Boss's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
I'm not sure if there is a video and I wish I would have made one when I swapped mine because if would have gotten several thousand views by now based on how frustrated everyone is about getting a truck with no storage in the center console. But, if you are handy with tools you probably don't need a video. In order to get the console swapped in my 2019 Silverado 1500 WT, I just simply unbolted the front seats and took them out (4 torx bolts on each seat). That allowed me access to the four torx bolts holding in the center console. Removed those and swapped out the entire console with one that had storage which I ordered from a junk yard. My truck does not have the wiring harness to hook up the USB and 210 outlet that's in the new console, so they are non-functional.. but I don't care. If you do, I suppose you could run a power wire to the fuse panel. Then I just bolted the new console down and replaced the seats. The whole thing took less than an hour. I know from reading other posts in this thread, some people just replaced the top half storage, but by replacing the entire console you get the added storage under the seat. The trick is finding a console in a junk yard. I found one with an online search at a junk yard in Michigan and they shipped it to me in California. The whole thing cost me $400 with shipping. I sold my old (non-storage) console on craigslist for $25.- 401 replies

I. have been doing some searching online to see if this problem is documented anywhere else. I found this YouTube video showing that the problem exists in the GMC Sierra as well...

I have a 2019 Silverado Work Truck. It came pretty standard with no towing package, not even a hitch. I 've installed a hitch and wiring plug (It did have the harness installed and just needed the outlet installed. But, I see in this press release that there are some advanced options for trailer packages and wonder if anyone know whether these can be added to the base model work truck. Appreciate any input.

Did they try replacing the USB port? That fixed it for me.

Somewhere in this thread is the contact information for a lemon law lawyer... I think you have a case.
-
UPDATE: They replaced my USB port and I haven't had the screen go black ever since. It's been a couple of weeks now. Not sure if the solution will last long term, but so far so good. After reading all of the different posts, I am convinced that it's not one single issue that is the problem. More like GM outsourcing to the lowest bidder in China who has poor quality control.

Custom Trail Boss Console Upgrade?
AlohaDan replied to Texas_Trail_Boss's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
Yeah it sucks... but I wasn't going to spring multiple thousands for the model that had the console and was perfectly happy with buying one from a salvage yard for $400 and putting it in myself. Took a little over an hour to replace the entire center console. I sold the one without storage to some dude on Craigslist for $25 just to get it out of my life.- 401 replies

Custom Trail Boss Console Upgrade?

Thanks for that update. if there is anyway that you could do a little how to video when you do the wiring to your ports, that would be amazing. I'm not super savvy the it comes to automotive electrical, but can follow if shown what to do. Anyway... only if you have the time/ability. Thanks!- 401 replies

Custom Trail Boss Console Upgrade?
AlohaDan replied to Texas_Trail_Boss's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
I had to unbolt both the drivers and the passenger seats to be able to remove and replace the center seat. It wasn't that big of a deal though. Regarding the key... it seemed to me that thee lower compartment will open with any Silverado key. The one that I bought came out of a wrecked truck in Michigan and my key turned the lock easily. I'm not keeping anything valuable in it thoug, so I'm just leaving it unlocked. If your old seat didn't have the USB/popwer ports, unlikely there will be any wiring for it. There isn't in my work truck, so they are just dead ports on the back of the console. If you figure out to get power to them, let me know.- 401 replies

Is there a subwoofer upgrade for the 2019 Work Truck? I bought a 2019 Silverado 1500 Work Truck Crew Cab and the sound is terrible. I looked up Part #19417164 for the kicker subwoofer and it says it does not work in my truck... I assume because the worj=k truck doesn't have the correct wiring harness to support it. Has anyone installed this into the work truck? Any recommendations?

Custom Trail Boss Console Upgrade?
AlohaDan replied to Texas_Trail_Boss's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
For those who are swapping out the entire console/seat and replacing it with one that has power and USB ports on it for the rear seat passengers... is there a way to hook up that power and usb? Because the work truck does not come with the power and usb on the back of the console/seat, there is also no wiring harness to hook it up. I'm wondering if I can buy and add the wiring harness in order to hook up the USB and power ports on the back of the console. It would mean figuring out what part to order for the wiring harness and how to route it and hook it up under the dash. Has anybody done this?- 401 replies

Took my Work Truck into dealer after talking to Lemon Law layer cited earlier. The lawyers office told me it has to have multiple service attempts that are unsuccessful before it canoe called a lemon. So, on their advice, called GM customer service and opened a case with them as well as scheduling a service appointment for the dealer (convenient timing since their is ANOTHER recall for the braking system). Dealer called back and said that after talking to Chevy tech support they were advised to replace the USB port in my truck. The part is on order, so I'll let you all know if that fixes the problem. I'd much rather have the problem fixed then have to go through a lemon law suit.

I'd be interested in reaching out to your lawyer, but I am in California so not sure if the firm would work with me.

Custom Trail Boss Console Upgrade?
AlohaDan replied to Texas_Trail_Boss's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
I found the entire center console seat from a wrecked one and replaced the non-storage version in my work truck to the version with full storage (both under the lid and under the seat). But, the work truck doesn't have the wiring harness for the power/USB ports the new console. Does anyone know if the wiring harness can be purchased and, if so, how to connect it so that I can have power to the rear passenger ports on the back of the console?- 401 replies

Audio controls - steering wheel - TrailBoss
AlohaDan replied to Ravenwood's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
Pdubb: Are you planning to do this to your truck? (Add audio Controls). If so, will you come back and let us know how it goes? -
Well... I learned the hard way on the rims fitment issue. I have a 2019 Silverado Work Truck. I assumed that 17" rims from an older Silverado would be a good replacement for the 17" steel rims that came on my work truck. I bought a set of OEM rims off of Craigslist and had my tires mounted on them only to find out that the DIAMETER of the rims was too small and the calipers scraped the Inside diameter. Check out the photos. The part number of the rims that I tried is 20937960. I have a set for sale now if anyone wants them! I wish there was a list which showed me which part numbers would fit.
