  1. As a fellow 2019 Work truck owner, I'd love to learn more about your upgrades and how you accomplished them. I would really be interested in what it would take to add a different wiring harness that would allow for audio controls on the steering wheel. Seems like a dealer would charge arm and a leg in labor to change the harness, let alone the cost of the harness itself. The dealer told me that the actual head unit (infotainment unit) in the work truck was not set up to handle the steering wheel audio control switch. Not sure if that's true as it seems strange that they would produce a different head unit just for the work truck, but who knows.
  2. I bought a 2019 Silverado Work Truck that comes with the stock 17" steel wheels. I thought that I would be able to just pick up another set of 17" OEM aluminum wheels online from someone who upgraded and avoid spending a boatload at the dealer on nicer wheels. So, I scored a set of GM Part# 20937960 from a guy who swapped them off of his 2016 Silverado. Well.. that didn't work. But, it wasn't because the caliper was hitting the back of the spokes of the wheels. The problem is that the caliper was scraping the inside of the rims (see photo). I spoke to the dealer who said that these rims will not fit my truck. They referred me to their options that will fit and the only thing that I can upgrade to (if I stick with Chevy wheels) is 22". I don't think a spacer will help my situation so I can use the rims that I bought, but if anyone has a solution, I'd appreciate hearing it.
  3. I searched on car-part.com and found one out of a wrecked truck. I replaced the entire center seat for $400 (including shipping from Michigan to California. The part number depends on the fabric color of your truck and type (cloth vs. leather) and they may differ depending on cab style (extended vs. crew) If you just reach car-part.com for center seat and then look for the matching fabric, etc. then call then seller to confirm it will fit in your truck, you'll be good to go. Way cheaper than buying a new part from the dealer. It also looks ike someone on this forum is selling theirs.
  4. I replaced the entire center seat in my work truck with one that came out of a salvage yard. Now I have the full storage of the higher trim models in my WT. If you only replace the armrest (top portion) then you don't get the under seat locking storage... right? The unit I picked up includes the power and USB outlet for the back seat passengers, but the wiring harness is not set up to plug this in on the work truck. I figure I'll just leave those plugs dead. My main objective was to get the storage. But if anybody knows an easy way to hook up these outlets so they work, I'd appreciate it. By the way... if anyone else is looking swap the center seat as well like I did, I searched for it on car-part.com and ended up finding it from Schram Auto Parts in Michigan. It cost me $400 including shipping to California. It's an easy swap (4 bolts hold it in) but does require that you unbolt the drivers and passenger seat to get to the rear bolts for the center seat. It took me about an hour or so. The GM part number for the entire seat is: 202.GM8M19. I now have a center seat with no storage now that I'd be willing to sell to someone cheap if you want it!
  5. I bought a 2019 Work Truck and after speaking to the dealer and reading as much as I could find online, seems that adding audio controls to the steering wheel is not possible. I was told that even if I could add the buttons to the steering wheel or change the steering wheel to one that has audio controls, the necessary wiring doesn't exist in the wiring harness for the WT. Oh, well.. so be it! But, if anyone learns anything different, please post.
  6. I have been having this problem with my brand new 2019 Silverado 1500 Work Truck. Less than 3 weeks old and under 500 miles and the screen has blacked out 3-4 times. Just randomly dies, then comes back up a few minutes later. Sounds like no one has a fix based on reading people’s posts here. Pretty disappointing.
