  1. We can only hope. I have read 24 and older repairs get the exact same valve body that keeps failing. Hope the 25 part is better.
  2. Sorry to hear about the trouble. I was recently at my local dealer and the number of sold 24s parked on the side of the lot "waiting for parts" was appalling. I don't know if GM had a bad batch of parts, or assembly problems, but in my years of owning them, I have never seen such a widespread set of problems on brand new trucks.
  3. AMEN Brother! I was thinking exactly the same before I even read your post. Praise being Saved!!
  4. Wow. That does not sound normal to me with only 8k LBs. You need to definitely get a diesel if you are about to double the weight of your trailer.
  5. I would agree AT4 2500 seats are definitely firmer than AT4X 2500 seats. One of my contractors has an Ultimate, but I have not sat in it. I will add I recently sat in a 2500 ZR2, and I thought those seats were softer than those in the AT4X. Certainly softer than a regular AT4. Maybe because those seats are not real leather? I don't know, but they were probably the best GM HD seats I have sat in.
  6. GM is moving quick now. My order went in 2/8, immediately allocated, and delivered to dealer 4/2. Less than 2 months, pretty amazing (AT4X 2500).
  7. Thanks. I am in a decent position of owning my 2020 1/2 ton and not "needing" the 2500 by a specific date. We estimated the trade value a month ago and agreed. No doubt it will go down as I await the new truck, but if they lowball at the time of the deal, I'll walk. Optimistic that won't happen though
  8. It was a manager. I started with an internet chat, gave my email, and then a manger contacted me. They did not say they would not work with me. On the contrary, they were very friendly. They only said they would not order me a custom unit. I like the mechanicals things most people skip - dual alternators and batteries, block heater, high idle. None of their ordered for stock units had those things.
  9. Colorado has been MSRP for a while. But no way I'm doing that. I ran numbers at 5 different dealers, and finally got the one closest to my house to sell it to me at "invoice", which amounts to about 5k off on my AT4X gasser. Scheduled for production next week, I placed my refundable deposit just under a month ago. Not the best deal in the world, but working local will gain me some tax savings. I spoke to someone at Rivard, but they would not take a custom order. They did offer to send me a list of all trucks in their pipeline to choose from. Even after shipping it to Colorado, it still would have worked out a little better, but I am OK with the deal I got. Generally speaking, I think by the end of the year, all of these HDs are back to the normal 8-12k off MSRP. Unless it is RAM, which of course are already available at 12-15k off.
  10. Great idea, Joel. It sounds so logical, and should seemingly be very easy to do. So yah, I'm sure GM does not give us that option
  11. No arguments on that point!
  12. This is really bad, especially after just reading your other posts and all the problems your truck has had. Did this radio / dash stuff just pop up at the 15k mark, or have you had it the whole time? I would love to know if anyone with a 2024 HD has had 0 problems with electrical systems / infotainment / power running boards. My AT4X order just went in and I can't believe that I am seriously considering a Tremor instead. Yes, I know Ford has plenty of issues too, but there seem to be many trucks that are problem free. These new Sierras seem like everyone has a problem. Pathetic. C'mon GM! We are crazy enough to give you near 100k for your trucks, please give us a quality, dependable machine in exchange!
  13. What is the length difference between a double cab and crew with the same bed? 9"? Don't see that mattering to anyone unless the garage is too small for a crew.
  14. Well, it is in the system settings as an option. Apparently it is not programmed properly. An update should fix it. My truck is not yet built so maybe it will work on mine. I'll take rock rails tucked under the body any day over all the steps the factory offers. But the AT4X is so tall, the power boards are a welcomed inclusion.
  15. That is great to hear! I am optimistic. We all know that as soon as anyone has a problem they run to a forum to post it, but few ever share the praise. I have had great luck with my 2020 Sierra 1/2 ton. The power running board issue seems to be fairly universal with moisture getting in to the area (maybe GM drill holes in the running board too? ). I read another guy say there is an option on the running boards to have them go up and down as the truck is put in and out of park, which makes so much sense to me, but that the feature does not work. That must be a programming issue. Like all of you guys, I value my time, and just don't want to be back and forth to the dealership for stuff. In the end, I trust the L8T motor and GM / Allison tranny. The other issues should be completely solvable, and hopefully GM puts in the effort to do so.
  16. My order went in today as dealer received a new allocation for AT4X. It drives so well with the multimatic shocks, hard to believe it is an HD. Volcanic Red, gas, no AEV (I prefer it without to be honest). Very curious to see what kind of tailgate cap I get Slightly concerned about all the electrical gremlins and left side power running board. But mechanically, I think GM still builds a solid truck.
  17. 6 weeks is not necessarily out of line, but a high volume dealer, for an LT? Yes. Keep in mind, it depends how many other deposits they had ahead of yours, and if they go in order. So they might be getting multiple allocations every week, but are giving them to other buys ahead of you. Also funny how all these guys all think they are "high volume". I am ordering a new AT4X HD, and 3 different dealers told me they get the most allocations in the state. All part of their bag of tricks to get your deposit.
  18. The AEV wheels are awesome. Supposedly, they will be for sale from AEV at some point. I am passing on the AEV package. I will never have the truck in such a scenario where I would gain the advantage of the steel bumpers. I also much prefer the look of the GM bumpers, but I would love the AEV wheels. On the AT4X I drove, the on road quality was noticeably softer than a standard AT4 or Denali. In similar builds, the X costs me 5-7k more, but comes with things the other trucks can't have. Namely, the shocks, e-locking rear diff, and phenomenal seats. Not quite as good as the CT5-V Blackwing semi analine massaging seats, but darn good. And I still can't believe it is less expensive than the 1/2 ton!
  19. Yes, you can do that on Denali. Not on AT4X. Denali is a lower trim level.
  20. They seem to keep AT4 and AT4X in greyscale, aside from the Volcanic Red. I have never been a red guy, but might go for that color on the AT4X. I saw one in person and loved it.
  21. I am also about to order an AT4X. The Tremor is a compelling option, but 80-90% of my drive time is without payload and towing. No need for the solid front axle. I do like that it is a limited slip differential on the front - better than nothing - but ironically in recent comparison videos I have seen of the trucks, the AT4X looks better on traction even without it. I only wish it did not have to be so loaded (like automatically including the sunroof, I don't like them and rather get the truck without). And I wish it had a few more color options.
  22. Out of curiosity, I test drove a 7.3L Tremor F250 today. Never owned nor driven a Ford in my life. The 7.3L was very impressive. With the 4.30 rear end, it jumps from a start. One thing I will credit Ford on, when you go to build a vehicle on their website, it is much more a la carte than GM. For the most part, very easy to pick and choose things you want and skip things you don't. Comparing against the AT4X, the Tremor drives stiffer. Not at all as harsh as I expected, but the multimatic shocks on the Sierra are great on road. The Sierra even in the most base form is very loaded, the Tremor package is very reasonable to add to whatever trim you are buying. So not really apples to apples, aside from 35" tires, factory lifted suspensions, and locking rear diffs. Let alone the exterior appearance, which for me, highly favors the GMC.
  23. Congrats! Probably just the scale of the photo, but that garage door looks tiny. Good thing you did not get the ZR2, I don't think it would clear!
  24. I am currently in a 2020 6.2L Sierra 1500 but soon moving back to an HD for payload requirements. Pulls my 28' travel trailer just fine, but payload is tapped. A change in work will have me needing at least 2500 LBs in the box, so back to a 2500. I had a 2015 Duramax LML that had the normal amount of emissions issues (fortunately all warranty items - sensors, DEF tank replacement, etc.). No need to go back to the diesel as max trailers for me will be 10-12k. After test driving the gas 6.6L, I'm surprised more people don't choose it. I guess I fall in the sweet spot of needing payload more than max towing ability. In the AT4X with 35" tires, the truck moved just fine. I did a handful of city driving miles, and then got it on the highway. Passing power was more than adequate. I really was surprised with the ride. Almost as smooth as my AT4 half ton. Definitely not the same as my old 2015 Denali 2500. For the price difference compared to a regular AT4 2500, I feel the shocks, e-locker, and upgraded leather seats are more than worth it. PS, payload was just under 3100 LBs on the tester. I think it is closer to 2600 on a diesel AT4x w/ AEV package.
  25. Solid information and beautiful truck. I had a 2015.5 Denali Duramax and mostly loved it. My recreational trailer is only 5500 LBs which is like not towing at all. I pulled some 10-12k stone trailers and it still hardly taxed that motor. Moved into a different need with less payload required for work. Bought a 2020 6.2L 1/2 ton. Pulling the same rec trailer fully loaded with family, generator, paddleboards, etc, I have averaged over 10 MPG in 4 years of use. I can go up the Eisenhower at 75 MPG and any other pass if I really push it. Without a trailer, I average 18 in mixed driving, and when needed, it is plenty quick to 60. I have nothing but high praise for it, and if you can live with the 1360 LB payload, it is a jack of all trades. My needs will change early next year and again require the capacity to put 2500 LBs in the box. So I am likely to go back to a heavy duty, but really have no need for the diesel. My 2015.5 had the normal sensor issues and DEF tank replacement, and thankfully all were fixed under warranty. The gasser with 10 speed should suit me fine. Of course I will miss the added grunt of the diesel, the sound of that motor, and as you mention, the exhaust brake. My 6.2L 1/2 ton uses engine braking surprisingly well, and I hope the 6.6L HD will be reasonable.
