Hi all - been dealing with an issue for a while now and it's finally gotten bad enough that I need to resolve it. On occasion, I've attempted to start my truck (1500 High Country w/ 6.2L) and it just clicks once. Other times, it will start right up but I'll get an almost continual barrage of warning messages (e.g. Service Trailer Brake, etc.). What I've found has helped me eliminate the issues (in the short term) has been to pull the key, lock the steering wheel, and actually rotate the entire steering column a few degrees. I'm doubtful I should be able to rotate the column at all in the first place, and wondering if that play has actually caused some sort of a short in the steering column wiring harness. Can anyone speak to whether there's a wire in the column that would prompt the starter to simply click instead of turn over? My mechanic (a solid Chevy guy) says any clicking like that is an indicator my starter is going bad and that I may also have a wiring harness issue, but considering I've been able to resolve the starter issue every time by rotating the column, I'm pretty convinced this is a wiring issue and don't really want to jump to replacing the starter yet. That being said, I do need resolve the issue ASAP as it's occurring more and more frequently and getting harder and harder to get it to resolve itself. Any help is appreciated!
