It had the injector problems the early ones had. I replaced them with the SAC injectors. They have tips that work like all the newer ones and don't fail like the original ones. The 4/5 clutches started to slip at 220,000. The rest of the trans was OK but I had it built anyway. I was in CA on vacation at the time and Mike L is the best. My engine is not stock. It has 45% over injectors and a bigger turbo. And a bunch of stuff to support that. I haven't had much other trouble with it. It still looks almost new inside and out. I actually like the truck and will likely keep it. If nothing else we live in a rural mountain area. I can drive it when it snows and give her the new one with the auto 4WD. It would be better than her front wheel drive car. And we will both be in 4X4s.And I won't have to take my trailer down to town and haul her car home. That happens every now and then. Once you pass there the plows are hit and miss for the last 5 miles. It gets too deep for a car. I would never even consider buying a new diesel with all the emissions garbage they have. It already costs too much to keep a diesel maintained. The problems that come with that make it not worth it IMO. I really got this new one because I will be retiring in a few years. I want something newer so I don't have to buy after I retire or have payments then. The 6.2 may pull my 28' travel trailer fine. It will pull my other trailers fine. If it struggles too much with the travel trailer I will just use the Duramax. At least for longer trips over mountains and where the speed limits are high. I am sure the 6.2 is enough for trips to Oregon and California. There are mountains on I 5 in California but the speed limit is so low and they are not that steep. The 03 is still a nice truck. But a newer diesel no way. I drive for a living and have spent way too many hours waiting for tow trucks with the newer tractors. Always emissions problems and the red light of death comes on. Plus I don't know if you have noticed the huge increase in truck fires. But that's what causes that as well.
