  1. Well, you know I discovered this on my first 1000-mile trip ('21 Denali) while using the infotainment while traveling at 75 MPH. However, on my second 1000-mile trip I figured out I can search some 4,000 songs on my USB while using the DIC. All smiles from then on. I guess GM just wants us to use the DIC for searches at those speeds which is fine.
  2. Gone are the good days where employees are paid based on their work ethics. In my view the unions are what is wrong with this country. I quit my last job only because it was a union job, my first and last union job. All the union was good for was for the sorriest employee there to protect them. It was a joke and those doing a good job where not recognized for their good works. All my other jobs were pay based on employee performance. Those good employees were also recognized as best workers and paid differently than those that chose to be half-assed workers. Yes, I was one of those good employees and made sure I was always on time and did my job well. I was paid handsomely and received promotions over the years, too. This is the way it should be, IMO. I have been to the Nissan plant in TN many times that has no union. Those employees looked quite happy to me. They have voted against a union many times. That speaks volumes. If GM could get rid of the union workers, they would do it in a heartbeat because they know what I have experienced. The employees are shooting themselves in the foot voting and putting up with the unions. The bad employees would get filtered out and our trucks would have less issues. As far as the automation, there are plenty of automation jobs created and available for those who want to learn how to operate and repair them. That's what I did.
  3. Okay, thank you! I will save this post. I also have been doing all I can to help with the shortfalls i.e., Catch can, Filtermag, Lucas's oil treatment, turning off Auto Stop, no hot-rodding, frequent oil changes at first couple thousand miles. It's kinda a ridiculous obsession, but it does run super quiet even with the hood up. My Denali 5.3L was built in DA Mexico in February '21. I am fairly sure none of my efforts will fix a bad lifter or lifter spring. I do wish GM would send out a recall on this issue so I could have some peace of mind. I travel on long trips with family. If it leaves me stranded that will probably end my relationship with GM and I will return back to Toyota for good where I didn't have these worries. I just liked the Denali offerings, so I thought I'd give it a try and then this carp I learned about. It was all rainbows and unicorns at the dealership when purchasing...Ha.
  4. Please educate me on what a "fuel pipe' is and includes that you are referring to and why it should be replaced on a lifter repair. I am not a "motor head" is why I am asking. I have a 2021 5.3L that has 5,100 on it so far. It has been flawless so far but would like to be educated/prepared in case needed.
  5. That makes sense to me. Is this a bad thing for the truck? I believe there is also condensation from the cold engine being generated during warm up. I am hoping the oil vapors are also collected to prevent long-term carbon buildup on the valves. I saw a bunch of oil on the OEM hose connector on the valve cover end when installing this can. I'll pull this can quick if someone makes an argument that makes more sense than those that argue for the necessity of a catch can. I will be checking the "clean side" of the can after some runtime to see if it is clean. It better be or else... I will add that this particular catch can installs on the passenger side of the truck. So, the hoses are of substantial length. I am thinking this will give the oil vapors or water vapors (if any) time to return to an oil or water type consistency. I am thinking this will aid the filter to better filter the oil or water from the air. Also, by design the catch can has a long can and it would be quite hard for any liquids to exit back out of the can. I am not an expert but am all ears to common sense and best practices. I always keep an open mind as well. Thank you for your input!
  6. Regardless of who is right or wrong I just put a UPR catch can on my new '21 Denali 5.3L while I am spending coins on a new ride. It was a plug n play model and has a drain valve on the bottom of the can for easy drains. I also installed a controversial FilterMag on my oil filter to catch any ferrous metal sludge the filter is unable filter out. I can't see what the harm is in installing these two items. From what I have researched they make good sense to me to have and are easy to install/remove. The best part is they make me feel good and involved having installed them myself. The main reason I installed the catch can was because I drive short distances and don't keep the truck running long enough to evaporate any condensation collected. The truck is also not daily driven.
