  1. Really? Dang. Kinda figured especially cause one is a c3500 truck and the other is a k2500 suburban. That and 6 or so production years different. Thanks tho. I probably won't hold onto the parts that long anyway... people are getting upset with my personal junkyard out back of the house *laughs* Can't blame em...
  2. Hello everyone, This sounds astronomically insane to even me BUT... hear me out *laughs* I have a 1995 K2500 suburban parts suv and looking at getting a 1989 c3500 sierra dully. The '95 parts suv... engine 7.4L V8, trans (shot) but 4l80e, body (shot), frame (shot) '89 c3500 Dually sierra... engine 6.6L diesel, trans (unknown), body (seems solid), frame (solid?) My question is, if saved the rear diff, driveshafts (front and rear), front diff and axles, and transfer case (manual on floor) would it be possible (albeit a hell-alotta-work) to bolt the front end, transfer case etc onto the '89 c3500 to make it a K3500 or am I just out to lunch? I am hungry so... *laughs* I know it's gonna be alot of work if it can / will bolt up but again not knowing the trans of the '89 besides its an automatic (same as the '95) My other question, has anyone ever done a C to K swap (or vise versa) and how difficult it was it? All I know for sure is it's same body style. As in not the square body chevys or the OBS... so I am hoping. If not the suburban is gonna be scrapped all the same. Thanks everyone! Mr. Kate
  3. Hey everyone, Mr. Kate here, My 4L80E isn't going in reverse and has hard shifts as I have posted before. Still waiting on BackOrdered trans valvebody spacer but anyway... Has anyone else had a 4L80E no reverse and hard shifting? If so what was the cause of your problem and what solved it? When I took to investigating my trans issue I found out my trans cooler lines had both been "patched" (poorly) and were leaking. So topped the fluid up before taking the trans bottom half apart. The top up didn't fix the problem. So when I went deeper, I drained the fluid etc. No metal shavings / debris in the pan that was evident. The electrical components internally that had the small screens, were all coated in trans fluid residue, and have since cleaned it all up but havnt reassembled. So any insights on what others have done would be great. Thanks again, Mr. Kate
  4. Ah! Great! Thanks that will help alot *laughs* I will look into that too. Thanks again Mr. Kate
  5. Thanks I havnt gotten the connector apart yet. Didn't know how and don't wanna break it *laughs* But have the valve body, filter etc out. So will check soon. Found out tho the check bearings in the valve body had elongated and deformed some of the holes they were suppost to sit in tho. Well in the gasket they did... So have those parts on order too. Thanks again for all the help! Mr. Kate
  6. Hello all, I have a 1995 K2500 Suburban ("GMC" one) with a 4L80E with the cooling lines side by side on the trans body. I believe that makes it first gen. Anyway my question is, does anyone know the ACDelco part numbers for em? I can find the Rad to Aux cooler and one line that runs the passangerside front to back BUT I don't have a part number / listing for the other one. Or can the same Trans to Rad (passanger side) be used for both lines into the transmission? (asking for a friend of course "laughs") thanks for all the help. Mr. Kate
  7. Have a 4l80e (first gen?) Transmission and it doesn't go in reverse. So took pan, gasket, filter etc out to get to the reverse servo assembly. Took that apart and checked the servo pin (seems pin I have is D/C so can't find replacement or specs) Also inspected pin and looks good. So wondering If it's the "bigger" spring in the reverse servo assembly but can't find specific, part number or name etc. Can anyone help please? I don't want to buy a whole "kit" if I just need one spring. Or the servo assembly isn't the issue... First spring. Not second. Ordered second by part # but not one I now know I need. Thanks for your help Nate
  8. *bump* any help or suggestions? Newbie here at a loss with this issue. Thanks again for the help! Mr. Kate (Inside joke. Real name is Nate)
  9. Hey all, I have a k2500 suburban with the 454 v8 and 4L80e (first gen I believe since cooling lines are side by side into trans body) I do not have reverse (so could be reverse servo pin) but have heard if no reverse won't have low gear (1st) when shifted manually and seems I have that still. So not sure if electrical issue where linkage connects to electric switch on outside body of trans. Or it's the electrical connections that go into the trans for the solenoids internally. Or it's the actual gears and bands etc inside. Anyone else have no reverse, and hard shift between 1st and 2nd (and sometimes 2nd to 3rd) when in drive? 1st to second shifts hard around 2500 RPm or so. Which seems high to me. So I am leaning towards besides obvious issues like solinoid, servo pin etc. That something internally is "binding" the when pressure gets higher then needed it "pops" and shifts. Like when strut bearings bind when turning before the force breaks em free again. Any help or ideas would be great! I havnt dropped pan, changed filter or fluid yet. Or taken electrical connector off side that goes inside (which I know can leak with time and short out connections and cause problems) Thank you in advance. Mr. Kate Bare Foot Garage (On YouTube)
  10. Sweet! Thanks I will look into that at some point! Nate
  11. Wow! That's cool! Thank you for that. I am a complete "newb" when it comes to 90's chevy / GMCs. So I truly appreciate all help from all. Do you know what the F&SO code looks like? Or is it just that "F&SO"? Also do you know what visual differences are between the 3/4 ton axle and a 1 ton axle? Sorry for asking so much. I havnt been able to find info online. Damn Google saying I am gonna die when I look for 3/4 ton "corporate" axles *laughs* Nate
  12. Thanks! That deff confirms I have a full float axle but doesn't confirm if it's a 3/4 ton axle or 1 ton lol Did 1995 suburbans' ever come with the 1 ton full floating axle? Thanks again!
  13. Hello all, New here. Don't post on forums much ever but have a question. Just purchased a 1995 gmc suburban LT (I believe) has a 454 under the hood. First gen 4L80E (one with cooling lines both near front, Not split up on opposite ends) Long story short I know I have a full floating "corporate" 10.5 rear end but I don't know how to tell if it's a 3/4 ton or 1 ton. *laughs* Guessing 3/4 ton is semi- floating and 1 ton is full but I can't find anything online. I know your saying "but k2500 suburban never came with a 1ton axle..." I was told from previous owner a previous owner of the truck swapped the rear axle with a 1 ton dually. So I am trying to track down info how to verify frame, drivetrain, rear diff etc if it's a 1ton or not. One of the previous owners put "dually" rear tires on it which I like alot BUT want to make sure if it's a 3/4ton and not a 1ton that I can handle that. Also it still has drum brakes in the rear (havnt taken tires off yet to check condition there lol) and disc front. So I know it's not a newer rear axle that had disk brakes. Or disc brake conversion welded on... A body swap is one possibility cause frame doesn't look spliced or "tweaked" and looks all "stock." If you have questions on things I need to look for please ask. I have been told it was duallified (horrible I know) "professionally" but am leaning towards the previous seller was pulling my leg. Or telling me what he was told. Which still seems possible bs. Thanks again all Mr. Kate @ Bare Foot Garage
